How do I upload a video to play on my website from my MacBook Pro?

How can I take video clips on my MacBook Pro and upload them to my website and then embed the video with a video player so that visitors to my website can see and play them from specific webpages on my site and on my blog?
Is there a specific software program I need?
I've been told I need a Flash Video player uploaded to a file on my website but I can't figure out what that means in terms of finding a Flash Video Player I can first download to my MacBook and then upload to my website FIle Manager, then figure out how to upload the file so that it connects to that Flash Video Player that is on my website.
This is all very confusing and frustrating to me and I need a solution as quick and easy as possible.
THanks,
Skip

So, my question is how do I do that, what type of software, video player or html code, etc. do I need to have to make that happen.
that is +a little+ beyond my skills, allthough I did that in the very beginnings of some of my websites a few hundred years ago And it is a little beyond the topic of this board..
to offer at last a few remarks:
• video files are huge.. check your contract, how much webspace your provider offers you.. (1 GB as a start)
• due to size, your guests will generate lots of traffic/bandwidth.. check your contract, how much traffic your provider allows you.. (a few GBs per months)
• the usual dilemma - what codec? YouTube made flv popular (=compatible with 99% of computers, 0% compatible with smart-phones and iPads..); actually, we're (and YT..) in transition to html5, which allows the more lean and 'better' h264 codec.. but do your guests use 'modern' browsers as Safari/FF/GC...? Do you have to offer a 'switch', flv/new? ...
• you have to upload your encoded files to your web-host, add some lines of code which generates a 'player'-experience (= tons of advice and free downloads around the net...); 'link' the code to your site-folders containing the videos - done.
• webspace and traffic
• decision to encode in what ..
• encoding video, probably wth some 3rd party encoder
• some 'website generator software' which allows manual coding for embedding your 'player'-code
=> now you see, HOW convenient iWeb is...
.. which, by the way, supports upload/FTP to 'foreign'/non-MobileMe websites..
perhaps you should try this very Mac-like way as a start..

  • How do I transfer a downloaded offline website from my macbook pro to an ipad2?

    I want my sales team to use an ipad2 to sell and present our products.  I have a website built that fully works offline which is our catalog.
    Now I want to transfer that website from my macbook pro onto a 'master ipad' so I can then sync up the other ipads with the 'master ipad'.
    How do I transfer the site to the ipad?

    Have you tried resetting the iPhone and rebooting the Mac?  I don't think iPhoto has an import size limitation, but if you still have trouble then perhaps using a cloud service like Dropbox as an intermediary will get the job done.

    how do i block website from my macbook pro?

    It's an very old and simple question! There are two ways that you can use to block websites on your Macbook Pro:
    1. Enable the Parental Control on your Macbook Pro, choose the app you don't want your kids to use.
    2. Install the Internet filter software for Mac that can help you block any unwanted websites automatically.

  • How do you get the sound to play on the tv from your macbook

    I connected my macbook to my tv using a HDMI cord. I'm trying to watch netflix but the sound plays from my macbook. How do you get the music to play from the tv instead.

    The adapter to HDMI doesn't carry sound from a MacBook earlier than the Mid 2010 models and most TVs don't have separate RCA input plugs for audio with the HDMI inputs since they expect the sound to be carried by the HDMI plug. With HDMI you'll need to use external speakers or headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs for audio with the HDMI plug.

  • How long does it take to delete an old user/administrator from my MacBook Pro?  Hours/Days?

    I just bought a new 2011 MacBook Pro and I want to give my late 2006 MacBook Pro to my niece for college.  It's in near-perfect condition.
    I'm trying to delete all of my user info and files.  I went ahead and created an account for her as an "administrator".  Then, I logged off from my account, logged in as her and then tried to delete my old account under System Settings / Accounts.
    I got as far as to remove the user account and to delete the home folder for my old user account.  Now it says "Deleting account..." under my user name.  It's been this way for about 6 hours.
    I have no way of knowing how long it takes, but does anyone know if it takes hours?  A full day?  With no status bar to indicate the deletion process, I have no way of knowing if my old computer is "stuck" or if it's actually working.  I have yet to try and stop the process for fear of screwing something up.  But if anyone has any idea how long this might take, I'd appreciate it so I can move on and do other things while this computer just "does its thing".
    Thanks!

    Cool.  Thanks for the response back.
    The late 2006 is running on OS X Lion (10.7).
    As for the "Activity Monitor", where would I find that?  I tried to search for it...but nothing popped up.
    I did, however, "get info" on the hard drive icon and noticed that the available disc space has gotten bigger, which would indicate to me that there have been some program and file deletions during the course of the day.  In fact, when I started the process, there was only about 50Gb of disc space available.  But, it seems like that number has doubled, which indicates to me the disc space is slowly freeing up.
    Again, it would be nice to some how know how long it would take.  Maybe this "activity monitor" is something I can find and see.

  • How can I upload a word/excel file to a website from my iPad?

    Hello everyone,
    I use my iPad mainly for my job, I'm a professional translator. Unfortunately, I'm having a very big trouble, for my needs of course, that comes when I have completed my translation on a file word/excel and it's time to upload on the website. Infact, my iPad is not browsing the place where these file to upload are stored but only pictures from the gallery. Did anyone run into this before?
    Thank you
    Carlo

  • HT204350 How many hours (maximum) does it take to migrate 400  GB from one MacBook Pro to another MBP using Ethernet connection?

    How long do I need for migrating data from old MBP to a new MBP?

    The fastest way would be to connect the two computers over Firewire, start the new MBP in Target Mode, and either clone the whole hard drive from the old MBP or only copy across the things you need. Doing it that way would take about 1-2 hours depending on how much stuff you're copying.
    Ethernet would be a lot slower.

    We are evaluating the use of iPod touch devices to record best practice videos on our manufacturing floor and to post to an internal Moodle web site. How can you upload a video from the iPod touch to a site other than YouTube? The Moodle upload interface is expecting a file selection dialog box like windows or OSX. I do not want to have to go through an intermediary step of messing with a pc.
    Thanks!

    It should be around 7 and a half gigs. In iTunes, across the bottom there should be a bar that show how much storage is being used and by what. (music, movies, apps, etc.) To make music take up less room, you can check the box to make it convert the music to 128kbps AAC. This lowers the quality, but with most earbuds and speakers, you can't even tell the difference.
    The iPod touch has parental controls built in. You'll find them in Settings. I think they only work for enabling/disabling Safari, Mail, YouTube, and App Store. Here's an app that does more: http://www.mobicip.com/online_safety/ipod_touch

    How can you get 2 videos to play simutenously together so both are playing side by side on screen at the same time?

    Welcome to the forum.
    As Steve observes, what you are talking about is called "PiP," or Picture in Picture.
    He has given you the basics of creating a "split-screen" PiP, and that should be exactly what you wish to do.
    For more detail, plus more ways to do PiP, I strongly recommend his book, Cool Tricks & Hot Tips for Adobe Premiere Elements 11, from Muvipix. He has an entire chapter (Chapter 10) on PiP, and many of its uses, with detailed instructions on the settings to accomplish it. Just that one chapter is worth the price of the book.
    Good luck, and happy editing,

  • How do I play video from my macbook pro to my tv?

    How do I play video from my macbook pro to my tv?

    What model MacBook Pro do you have? On my late 2011, I used to use a Mini DisplayPort/Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter to get video and audio from my Mac to my television. I used this adapter from Monoprice. Worked great - I just no longer use it because I bought a 27" monitor.
    You can also use AirPlay mirroring if you've the right MBP and an Apple TV - but the wired method works, too.

  • In Windows how can I save a video just played by Flash Player?

    In Windows how can I save a video just played by Flash Player?

    This is what I ended up doing.  I put the FLVPlayback inside a movieclip and put this on the first frame:
    stop();
    var vidTime:Number=0;
    on the frame that the video plays on I have the video and a close button (which is a movieclip) and I put the following script:
    if(vidTime>0)
        htMeasVid.seek(vidTime);
    close_btn.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, seekCount);
    close_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, closeBtnUp);
    function seekCount(e:Event):void
         vidTime=htMeasVid.playheadTime;
    function closeBtnUp(e:MouseEvent):void
        e.currentTarget.parent.play();
    on the following frame I have this code:
    close_btn.removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, seekCount);
    htMeasVid.stop();
    and then on the last frame I have this:
    gotoAndStop(2);
    so that it doesn't reset the vidTime variable to 0.
    Thanks again for the help.
