How do I use 3rd party plug-ins in Logic?

Yeah, so I installed a bunch of plug-ins such as Absynth and Elektrik Piano, and when I opened up Logic it said it scanned them as all that. My question is how and it what ways can I use them? Thanks!

1. Are to ***** lazy to read the manuals.
2. Have pirated the software (plus a few hundred plugins) and barely know what to do with either the plugins or the program. It's pretty easy to tell.

  • How to PERMANENTLY get rid of 3rd party Plug-ins in Logic pro 9.

Hi, im trying to get rid of some 3rd party plug-ins on logic, but it only looks like i can disable them. (sweeping them under the rug isn't helpful) This is a problem because i have one version of a plug-in that doesn't work and im gonna get another of the same version (with expansions) to replace it so im concerned that the 2 versions will conflict with one another and i wont get the expansions i payed for. Anyone have a solution to permanently get rid of plug-ins? -Tim

The component files of the third party plugins are in:
    Local Drive\Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\Components
You can make a backup of a given component (say in a desktop folder) and replace the component with other version etc.
You can use [Pacifist|http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/mac/12743] as well to install/extract a component from a given installation pack etc.
Edit: Sorry Immo I duplicated your reply solutions hitting posting a few sec. later...

  • How will FCPX implement 3rd Party Plug-ins?

From a Professional standpoint, the current version of FCPX is unusable on so many levels due to the absence of basic features that made FCP series the juggernaut it was until yesterday.
Here's my prediction of HOW Apple plans to distribute Plug-ins and Add-ons:
Apple is pushing towards a single, universal OS -- most likely a glorified iOS. And they're forcing FCPX users to upgrade to Lion so they have Appstore on their machines just to buy FCPX. Matter of fact, theyi're seeing more profit from Appstore/iTunes than their own computers! Ever since the success of the Appstore -- Apple/Jobs has been pushing to create products and services that will bring even more profit to the Appstore/iTunes business model.
Hence the release of the iPad and the development of iPad apps -- and the move to with OSX Lion.
The reason for this is so that Apple can take their flagship software like FCP --- and monetize all 3rd-party plug-ins and add-ons.
SO, once Apple has a consumer using FCPX, if they want Multi-cam or Import/Export features -- you will have to buy it as an add-on and sell all FCPX plug-ins and add-ons THROUGH THE APPSTORE.
Furthermore -- Apple will most likely force all 3rd-party developers to build plug-ins for FCPX as an APP -- and sell it THROUGH THE APPSTORE -- where Apple gets 30% commission -- stealing that money away from the developers, who in the past with FCP7, you were able to purchase directly from the developer.
SO -- FCPX isn't a revolution in editing....
FCPX is a revolution in MONETIZING FINAL CUT PRO PLUG-INS through the APPSTORE!

Apple is pushing towards a single, universal OS -- most likely a glorified iOS.
No they are not. OS X is a far more developed, powerful and mature OS than iOS. There is no sign that it is being some reduced in power in any way. There's a whole lot of fokks claiming it is simply because a few interface features from iOS are being added  - note added - to OS X.
And they're forcing FCPX users to upgrade to Lion so they have Appstore on their machines just to buy FCPX.
Well I hate the argue but that's factually untrue as well. No FCPX users are not forced to upgrade to Lion. Snow Leopard users can buy FCPX today, long before Lion is introduced.

  • Can't use 3rd party plug-ins

I've tried to install some third party audio units (from Blue Cat and Digital Fish Pnones) to use in STP 3, but they simply don't show up in the Effects tab. I'm quite sure I've installed them correctly but have I missed something obvious?
    Thanks!

This is the Effects tab we're talking about, right?
I downloaded that plugin, and I see that the .dmg had both a mono and a stereo version. Make sure to put both in your components folder. I know that when I removed the stereo version, no plugin showed up in STP. Maybe that's it.
    Hope this helps!

  • What are 3rd party plug-ins?

I always hear people talking about using 3rd party plug-ins in logic but I dont know what they are I have tried looking on the net but cant seem to get a straight answer.I know logic does not support VST plug-ins so are they just the AU plugins you can install in Logic or something completely different please can someone set me straight thanks.

3rd party (non Apple) Plug Ins can be anything from processing effects to Software synths, samplers, romplers whatever. The AU Plug In format is what Mac's can handle without using VST wrappers. Some users do use VST Plugs with wrappers in Logic but as there are so many AU Plugs out there there is no real need to do so unless you want to use a specific Plug which is only available as an AU Plug In.
Check the KVR Audio site, they have the best compilation of free and commercial Plug Ins on the net:

  • Using native Logic OSC support with 3rd party plug-ins & new touchOSC maps

    Hi All.
Now that logic from 9.1.2 has native OSC support, I wandered if anyone has used it succesfully with their own customised touchOSC maps?
I'm not so interested in using touchsc as a transport/mixer for logic - which is what the default logic map that comes in touchosc s focused on, but more to control a few 3rd party plug-ins inside logic (FXPansion Geist & Strobe) - which would mean I need to create my own maps. It doesn't seem clear however if or how you can edit or use touchOSC maps which use the native OSC support bult into Logic
Anyone had any joy with this, or able top shed some light on possibilities & limitations?

For now they are OSCulator reliant, and that has some advantages: primarily that the user can easily remap anything that doesn't suit their needs. I've been using these for weeks and the combination has been rock solid so I wanted to go with it rather than wait for (and learn) the SDK.
The best part is that these bundles will include everything you need, including custom Kontakt multis, VSL matrix files and of course the OSCulator mappings - and building those may have caused carpal tunnel syndrome! Talk about a mammoth task... Anyway, the goal is for it to be an easy plug & play experience.
Trying to wrap up today or tomorrow - just waiting on some website reorganization...
    Stay in touch!

  • Using third party plug-ins

    Hi.
How do I use third party plug-ins. I've just installed SSL LMC-1 component, but i can't find in the insert pop-up menu on the Logic channel strip.

    Hi,
I had that plugin, but it no longer shows up under Logic 7.2.3,which is what I'm running now.So I do not use it anyomer,at least until it is updated.
Although a cool plugin, you might want to try either the Free Fish Fillets, which sound better to me,or another pay plugin like the Nomad Factory BT Compressor FA770 which is like the Fairchild, very close in fact.
    Cheers

  • LP9.1.1/10.6.3 -- 3rd party plug-ins question..

The last 4 nights on my new system have been stable---iMac i7/LP9.1.1/10.6.3
Now i'm missing my 3rd party plug-is which i have not installed yet.
    Stylus RMX
    Omnisphere
Maschine is in the mail and i may jump at the Komplete 6/Kore 2 bundle sale.
What should i expect with 3rd party plug-ins and Logic 9.1.1, am still in 32bit mode, but lots of horror stories about noise on first note, crashes etc.
I bought this system for film scoring kinda stuff, so internal logic instrumenst are not enough for me.
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    Faisal

I would suggest to make sure Logic is in 32bit mode when you first run it after installing your plug-in's. I had the darndest time trying to get my Komplete and Sample Tank's to show up- then it dawned on me that I was in 64-bit. Ran in 32-bit and the plug in manager found all the 3rd party stuff.
Once you have it installed (remember that a lot of plug-ins should be ran first in their standalone mode to authorize)- switch back to 64-bit and all should be good (for the most part).

  • How do you install 3rd party plug-in in Photoshop CC

Our fine customer service/tech support wouldn't help me with my question/problem because 3rd party plug-ins are not an Adobe product.... Silly, isn't it since all I want to know is how do you install "any" plug-ins into Adobe Photoshop CC. Can anyone with any sanity here offer a solution?
    Thanks.

It could be complex depending on your OS and user ID permissions.    Adobe Photoshop CC Mac version only supports new Mac with Intel 64bit processors, Photoshop CC windows supports  both 64 bit systems and 32 bit systems.  If you have a 64 bit system both the 32 bit and 64 bit version of Photoshop are installed so windows has both a 32 bit Plug-in Folder and a 64 Bit Plug-in Folder.  Prior to CC Photoshop Preference let you add you own Plug-in folder tree to Photoshop Plug-in folder tree.   I still install Plug-in that way however I have to add the link manually for adobe removed that option from its Preferences UI in Photoshop CC.  I always have more the one versions of Photoshop and all installed versions use the same Plug-in, Actions and Scripts that I add to Photoshop.   There is One exception.  The Way the Image Processor Pro plug-in script is coded expects it and it default XML file to be installed into Adobe's folder so I made and exception for it.   You user ID need to have permission to modify and add files to system folders if you want to install plug-ins into the folders that Adobe created for third party plug-ins to be installed into.
Adobe Photoshop CC installer creates a folder in  Photoshop version   ...\Plug-ins\... so on my Window 7 64 bit system there are two folders
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\" and
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\Plug-ins\"
All I add to these are the Adobe ScriptListener.8li Plug-in and a link to my  Plug-ins folder.

  • Problem with 3rd Party Plug-Ins

I am running Logic Pro 7 and recently a majority of my 3rd party plug-ins quit working. When I try to load the plug-ins or open a song that uses the plug-ins, Logic unexpectedly quits. Some of the plug-ins that cause the problem are:
    Spectrasonics Trilogy and Atmosphere
    Plugsounds PS01-06
    Ueberschall BPM120 and PLP120
    Native Instruments Kompakt
This has happened before, but for some reason within two or three weeks, they just magically started working again. I could use an update on my OS (10.3.9) and some updates are available for the plug-ins, but why wouldn't everything continue to work as it had if nothing has changed? And is this absolutely necessary because I'd rather not because I'd have to update everything.

Did you update or change ANYTHING on your system? I've learnt that once I have a stable system, DONT upgrade unless you HAVE to, as updated plugins are designed to work on the most recent software, and sometimes dont get tested and/or work with "older" systems.
However, if you have not changed anything and are getting these problems, the most likely cause is either song corruption (though you said this is happening on multiple songs, so I doubt thats the problem) or preference corruption, which happened to me just a few months ago. Dont ask me how things get corrupted, but when they do you start to experience random weirdness. For example, recently all my songs stared giving me "memory errors" on stuff that use to playback fine. Once I rebuilt my preferences, every was stable again.
Here is a link to troubleshooting tips created by Bee Jay (a wise poster here). Follow them and they should fix your problems:
    http://logicquicktips.blogspot.com/2006/10/troubleshooting-logic.html
Note: if you created any custom key commands for logic, do not trash your old preferences, as you can import your key commands from this file. Check your manual under import key commands. Here is a link to the PDF of the manual, which is easier to search:http://www.apple.com/support/logic/
If you want to turn off your plugins just to see if they are at fault (though it sounds to me like song/prefs corruption, not plugin problems) use the AU
manager. I'm not in front of Logic right now, but I believe its under either the apple pulldown menu, or the file menu, or one of the other menus "up top."
(sorry for my bad description). If you still cant find it, let me know and I'll look it up, but as I said, this sound like a corruption issue and not an issue with your plugins.
    Best of luck!

  • Importing 3rd party plug-ins into CS5

Coming from CS3, I've tried drag and drop but no joy.
How do I get my plug-ins/filters moved over - or do I have to continue to use CS3 if I want to use them???
It's been some time and I'm not sure I even have the original installers or not - it would take some real hunting around to find them if I did.  Some don't matter if I lose them, while many are used often.  There *should* be a simple drag and drop, migrate or import function for this - where is it?

They sort of say DON'T USE OLD 3rd party PLUG INS!
"As with all previous versions of Photoshop, don't copy old third-party plug-ins, or plug-ins from previous versions of Photoshop, into the Photoshop CS5 plug-ins folder.  If you have set the Additional Plug-Ins Folder in the Plug-Ins preferences to a folder, deselect this option."
Well where the heck are they supposed to go then?  :-/   Their installers put them in the Plug-Ins folder...
I found for the couple I really wanted to import, and tried, once in 32 bit mode on startup (Switch this under "Get Info" for those reading along) -  they worked just fine.  Yes, 64 bit would probably be better, but I suspect that in many cases 64 bit "upgrades" aren't free - even though the features are no different.
For now, for my needs, this works and has been solved - thanks!

  • "3rd Party Plug-Ins" Not Showing Up In Preference Pane...

I'm trying to install a couple of 3rd-Party Plug-Ins... Apparently the procedure for this is to go to Preferences, and in the "General" pane, there should be a heading that says "3rd Party Plug-Ins" along with buttons "Choose..." and "Clear" and a path.
On my General Preferences Pane, there is no such section... It goes right from "Content Library & Templates" to "Media," with no "3rd Party Plug-Ins" listed anywhere in the pane.
Using Motion 3.0.2.... Did something change and they didn't change the manual to match? Or is there some setting elsewhere that's making that option disappear?
    Thanks!!!
    Nick

    Howdy,
The "3rd party plug-ins" section in the Library and preferences really refers to AE plug-ins. Third-party FxPlug plug-ins (like dvMatte or Boris Continuum) show up mixed in with the regular filters and generators.
That "3rd party plug-ins" path setting in the preferences doesn't appear on Intel-based Macs, as they're no longer supported. If you have a PowerPC system, they'll show up (and so will the setting).

  • 3rd party plug-ins are not displayed in channel strip audio unit insert

I have successfully loaded several 3rd party plug-ins (Wave Masters and IK multimedia Studio Bundle) into my MacBook Pro. The files are shown in Library>Audio>Plug-ins>Components, in User>Downloads, and they appear in my Audio Unit Manager (for each the box is checked for access from Logic Pro). Yet, when I go to a channel strip to launch some of the plug-ins, the product does not show up under audio units. How do I get these plug-in files to the insert list for my audio channels? Unfortunately, I need to launch these plug-ins in order to authorize them with the vendor. I must be missing a key step, but I have not had this issue before with other 3rd party plug-ins. Thanks for any direction.

Also, I know in the case of my IK Multimedia Classic Studio Reverb, it will NOT be available from within my 3rd party plug-in list, on a MONO channel.
I need to be opening the list on a stereo track (or stereo Aux), in order to be able to select those plug-ins.
See if it's something that simple...
