How do I use a computer to computer network?

I tried to set up a computer to computer network form my mac to connect with my pc notebook.
my notebook says it is connected but I do not see my mac anywere, what do I have to do to acess my shared folder on my notebook?

Perhaps the actual computer-to-computer wireless network is not really working.
Start by making sure you have created the computer to computer network properly on your Mac by reading Communicating with other computers wirelessly. Do NOT implement a password, since this feature is difficult to get working properly with a PC at the other end of the connection.
Then configure your PC's wireless adapter to connect to the wireless network you created on the Mac.
Note that having a wireless networking connection between these two computers sounds like a nice high-tech idea, but a direct cabled connection would be (a) less trouble to set up, (b) would be far more secure, and (c) would provide a dramatically faster connection.

Jabber for Window, phone mode, how to disable "use my computer for calls"

We have a Citrix environment and only want to control the Cisco deskphone with Jabber for Windows in the phone mode.
We use CUCM 8.6.2 and I have installed Jabber for Windows 9.7.0 and all works fine, I can control my deskphone, make and receive calls, phonebook and Outlook integration works fine.
Is it possible to disable "use my computer for calls" as we do not want users to make calls via Citrix, but only use the deskphone for this.

Soft-phone mode cannot be disabled. Supported Features on Virtual Environment are the following.
Supported Features
    Instant messaging and presence with other Cisco Jabber clients
    Desk phone control
    Voicemail
    Presence integration with Microsoft Outlook 2007, 2010 and 2013
We have an existing defect which is in Terminated state because feature is not supported hence cannot be fixed.

Where did the phone come from as most of the UK carriers unlock phones, but the fact that you are now abroad may be a problem.

How to update using Windows computer to download update files

I have a macbook I use at home, with OSX 10.4.7. Due to lack of a fast internet connection, I cannot update the macbook. At office, I have a faster connection, but on a windows computer. How do I download the files that are required for Macbook particularyly? I see files only on the macbook software update window, but on visiting the website, I see only a list of common updates, with nothing specifically for Macbook.

If you see more than one version of a download, you should choose the Client, Intel version, for a MacBook.

How can i use different computer to manage iPhone?

I have been using iTunes on a Win7 machine since i had my iPhone4.
Now, since i have some problems in Win7, i'd like to switch to my Mac mini (mac os x Lion) to manage (sync, backup, update) from now on.
If i connect, i am not allowed to backup since this is not the computer "attached" to this iPhone. I do have most of the stuff on both machines (music, apps, and so on...)
How can i change this? Indeed i want to avoid replacing my iPhone content by different things...

you need to move your iTunes Library from your Windows machine to your Mac. Apple has iTunes set up so that you can't simply use multiple computers to back up and download files to your phone. It keeps us honest and doesn't allow you to share music, movies, books etc.
You should be able to copy your library to a flash drive or DVD on your PC, unless it is really huge.
Or you can turn on home sharing on both machines and copy your files from the PC to the Mac.

How can I use my computer as a Headset device for my phone with Bluetooth?

Hello, Both my laptop and my phone support A2DP but for some reason the service (from the phone) does not show up while I add a new connection and the phone does not let me initiate a connection with any other profile except FTP, even though it detects other services in the service list like A2DP and works perfectly fine with other profiles like DUN, HID, OPP, SSP if the connection is started through the computer. I am currently using the latest version of the Toshiba stack [v8.00.12(T)], I have tried using WIDCOMM but it refuses to install drivers for both the internal Bluetooth and the USB Bluetooth that I use on my desktop. The standard Microsoft stack (generic driver) does install but it does not seem to communicate with my internal and external (USB) Bluetooth. With BlueSoleil (the default stack that came with the USB Bluetooth) I could set my device as "headset" instead of only "laptop/desktop", and this allowed both my phones to detect my laptop as a device they can use as a headset, but the problem with this stack was that only the older phone could actually connect to my laptop and that the internal Bluetooth could not be used. Basically, I want to set the device type as a "headset" for my phone using the Toshiba stack like I did with BlueSoleil. Is there any way this could be done? Thanks. Attached: Device type selection

It's not possible. You can use the iMac as a display for the MBP, but the reverse is not possible. The MBP does not have Target Display Mode as a feature and no third-party app nor hack can enable something that doesn't exist. The only way to accomplish this will be one of the network solutions.

How do I use another computer to add music to my Iphone?

The laptop I had all my Itunes stuff in lost funtion in it's USB ports. I am trying to move my iphone over to my desktop so I can once again download MP3s to my Iphone, but I don't want to delete everything on my phone and I also can't upload a backup of my phone to my desktop, as it doesn't have enough room to hold another 10 GB of data.
So what i want is to keep everything on my phone, but be able to upload new songs from my PC

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. You'll probably have to purchase an external drive to recover the media to and free up some room for a backup, otherwise you're looking at wiping everything and starting over.

How do I use Home Sharing on campus network?

I attend Auburn University and they use 802.11X authentication for wireless devices on campus. Right now all my Macbook Pro, iPhone 4, and iPad can all connect to the network just fine. The only problem is that they cannot see each other over AirPlay or iTunes Home Sharing. Does anybody know how I can get this fixed or is this something I am going to need to work through with campus IT?

Relying only on TM to me is iffy but I would bet you have clones in addition to TM like I do. I agree with everything you said but to the OP question, it is possible. A time capsule or AEBS+HD are pretty similar but one is officially supported while the later is not.
Since I'm rambling a bit I will add this. I only use TM for the times I delete something and then wish I had it back. All my restores or migrations are done from my clones. One clone is made weekly and is a snap shot of my system. One clone I keep remotely located and is updated monthly.
My system:
Internal 1TB
Ext HD1 2TB (1TB data, 1TB clone)
Ext HD2 2TB time machine backup (internal + HD1 data, not the clone)
Remote 1TB clone
I'm fully redudant with my method and it has saved me before.

Automatically name computers using existing computer name

In my environment, I have brand new computers to be imaged. The computer name needs to consist of the room number and the serial number.
I am utilizing the Collection Variables within All Unknown Computers collection to define the room number. And I am using CustomSettings.ini to automatically grab the serial number and combining that to the room number to OSDComputerName.
That is working perfectly fine.
My question is how to automatically use existing computer name as the name of the re-imaged computer?
If I use the same task sequence, because the computer is no longer an unknown computer, it doesn't prompt me for the room number. The computer name ended up containing the variable %roomnum% plus the serial number. I do not want SCCM to prompt
me for anything but automatically use the existing computer name.
Please advise.

The variable %RoomNum% is defined in the All Unknown Computer collection and a prompt appears for me to manually enter that information before imaging the computer the first time.
But when I reimage an existing computer, I get no prompt and because the variable is not defined, the final computer name because %RoomNumber%9999999, which is longer than 15 characters and so the task sequence fails.
How and where in the task sequence do I define: if this is not an unknown computer, then use existing computername?
I also notice that I can add a step called "Capture Windows Settings-Migrate Computer Name". Is this the step that I need? Where in the task sequence should it be added to?
Here is a section of my task sequence. I didn't change much from the default created MDT Task Sequence.
