How do I use a Cross-Tab to show me multiple fields without Summaries?

Is it possible to add a Cross-Tab to a report with 6 columns and 4 rows; the values in each field are taken from a different field in the db and no summaries are used?
Essentially the cross-tab needs to look like a table that you would create in Excel or Word.

Linda,You cannot do that, because cross-tabs have always a summary on the axes (the number of having the value in the column AND the value in the row).If you need a table, you can use borders for your field and field header.

How to move vertically the fields without using the Cross tab layout

I'm using Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.48.18).
With Administrator I created a custom folder and I have the following list of fields:
Ticket id
Creation date
Actual Situation
Gravity
Owner
Category
Group
Inside my report I have as parameter the Ticket id, and then my intention is to create a page item for the ticket id, in order to change it directly from the report.
Now my question is very simple. Instead to show the data as usual:

I'd like to know if there's a way to show these fields exactly in this way:

I tried to create a Cross tab layout, starting from the Table layout, but it doesn't work because I don't have data points to show, and above all I don't need a Cross tab logic.
I need only to move vertically all the fields in order to show, for each ticket, all the ticket's details as shown above.
Is it possible to have this layout ?

Hi Rod, I'm sorry if I answered you only now.
My expression "in order to change it directly from the report" was just related to the Ticket Id, but right now the customer's requirements changed and I don't need to change it inside the report ; I just insert the Ticket Id at the beginning as parameter and then I see all its details.
So, I tried your second solution (row generators) following the article on the blog...and It worked perfectly.
Summarizing I created:
1. a folder called "Row Generator - 20 rows"
2. a complex folder called "Fields names"
and then I created a join between the Tickets folder and the Fields names folder with the Dummy field
I also create a LOV (on the Administrator) based on a calculated field inside the Fields names folder (I followed the LOV example shown inside the Row Generators Blog Article).
Now, created the first piece:

I'm trying to create others details blocks, always in "vertical style" (Customer’s Data, Further Information, etc) as below:

How to calculate difference in cross tab report

Hello All,
I have a cross tab report . I have values for 2 KPI's no of employees joined and no of employees left organization on monthly basis.
I want to calculate employees Joined - employees left organization.
Please let me know how can we achieve this.

Hi Prasad,
I think you want the difference between the two columns in the cross tab i.e.
"Count of Joinees" (lets say V1) and "Count of employees left the organisation" (lets say V2)
For achieving this you can do:
1. Create a variable V1 (as measure) for "Count of Joinees" as you have already used in your cross tab (1st Column), just create a variable for it.
2. Create another variable V2 (as measure) for "Count of employees left the organisation" as you have already used in your cross tab (2nd column) just create a variable for it.
3. Add a column next to "SUM" insert the formula =[V1]-[V2]
I think this should work just try it.

How to arrange columns in cross tab

Hi,
I have 4 formulae that i need to put in as the columns in a cross tab.
I have added 4 of them in the column section of cross tab expert but when i preview ....it gives me total again and again and repeatetive columns, All i want to view is just 4 columns(for which i have created formula) and grand total column.
Is it possible.

That is so coooooooooool:)
This way i got rid of all the extra columns and extra labels that were appearing on the top.
With this another qs has come.
Now I am getting the column headers as 1094, 0.00,0.00,0.00 and the last one as total.
Is it possible to remove 1094,0.00,0.00,0.00 and get actula column headers ??

Cross-tab report: need to SUM field and present as HH:MM:SS format

I am creating a cross-tab report and several of the selected data fields I need to summarize are time-based fields, which are stored as seconds in the database. When I create a standard report, the formula to convert the seconds to HH:MM:SS and SUM works just fine, but when I try to bring that formula field into the cross-tab report, it does a COUNT on it rather than a SUM.
How can I get it to SUM that data and present it in an HH:MM:SS format in the cross-tab report?
Here is the formula I'm using in the Standard Report to convert from seconds to HH:MM:SS and SUM the data.
totext(abs((Sum ({wagent.acwtime})) / 3600),"00") & ":" &
totext(abs(remainder((Sum ({wagent.acwtime})),3600) / 60),"00") & ":" &
totext(abs(remainder(remainder((Sum ({wagent.acwtime})),3600),60)),"00");

In the cross tab, do the sum on {wagent.acwtime}. In the cross tab on the page, right click on the field for the sum, select Format, press the X-2 next to Display String, and enter your three line formula, replacing {wagent.acwtime} with CurrentFieldValue.

I am using the High Speed Data Logger vi to read from a 16 channel A/D card (NI PCI-MIO-16E). The project may require more than 16 channels. How can I use High Speed Data Logger to read from two A/D cards? Will it be able to write the data to one file?

The High Speed Data Logger vi will not acquire and right to multiple DAQ boards at the same time without modification. LabVIEW is more than capable of doing this what you are trying to do, but you will have to modify the code.

if your alias name for a column contains spaces, it needs to be enclosed in double-quotes.
is there a real need to have such a column heading? what is the problem in enclosing the alias name in double-quotes?
SQL*Plus has no problem displaying such a column heading? what issue are you encountering?

How do I use serial port read and show text, but not have it scroll off screen?

I am new-ish/returning amateur user of Labview and I am trying to edit the example VI "Advanced serial write and read VI" that is part of dev suite 2012. I need to use the string box to show ALL text received from serial port, always appending and only rolls off screen when more real data arrives at serial port.
What is actually happening is as more bytes (or no bytes AT ALL!) arrive during read time, current text rolls off the string box. Even when 0 bytes are received, screen is blanked out.  I am not very familiar with functions locations and even worse at understanding obscure references to functions, so please keep replies very basic so I can follow.
Just to be clear, I need the string window to behave like hyperterm does-always shows data and it is not pushed out of window arbitrarily.

OK- lets start back at the beginning. I have a few questions...
WHy does incoming txt get placed at top of txt box and then scroll up?  why would it make more sense to input at the bottom and scroll toward the top. I have created this huge txt box that appears to be impossible to use.
I have attached example of txt boxes I have tried, and pic of VI I have edited. Bad marks for uglyness....

UIX LOV: How to Design an LOV that provides lookup value to multiple field

Hi,
I've have an input form which has following fields.
1) Task Name1: (input lookup field. invokes LookupTask.uix)
2) Task Name2: (input lookup field. invokes LookupTask.uix)
3) Task Name3: (input lookup field. invokes LookupTask.uix)
4) TaskId1 (hidden form field. tied to field Task Name1)
5) TaskId2 (hidden form field. tied to field Task Name2)
6) TaskId3 (hidden form field. tied to field Task Name3)
the way I intend to have the LOV work is as follows:
The three Task Name input fields are populated by using the same LOV page LookupTask.uix. The user will select a task name from the LOV page.
When the user invokes the LoV against the TaskName1 field, and selects a value from the LoV and closes it, then it should transfer the task name from the LoV to the Task Name1 field and the corresponding task id to TaskId1 hidden field on the input page. If the LoV was invoked from the TaskName2 field, then the lookup values should be transferred to the TaskName2 and TaskId2 fields correspondingly.
I am able to make it work if there is just one pair of field, i.e. TaskName1 and TaskId1. I'm not able to make it work with multiple fields served by the LOV window.
any suggestions on making this work will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried setting the onLovSelect attribute on the lovInput to a javascript callback function that populates the hidden form fields?
