How do I use a Hebrew font in indesign?

How do I use a Hebrew font in Indesign?

You will need either the Middle Eastern version of InDesign, or a plugin like World Tools for the English version of ID. If you are a Creative Cloud member, you can just download the ME version by setting your langauge correctly in (I think) the Creative Cloud app. If you own a perpetual license for some earlier version of CS, then it's not so easy, and World Tools is (in my limited opinion) probably your best bet.

  • How do I use Edge Web Fonts with Muse?

How do I use Edge Web Fonts with Muse - is it an update to load, a stand alone, how does it interface with Muse? I've updated to CC but have no info on this.

    Hello,
Is there a reason why you want to use Edge Web Fonts with Adobe Muse?
Assuming you wish to improve typography of your web pages, you should know that Muse is fully integrated with Typekit. This allows you to access and apply over 500 web fonts from within Muse. Here's how you do it:
Select a text component within Muse, and click the Text drop-down.
Select Add Web Fonts option, to pop-open the Add Web Fonts dialog.
Browse and apply fonts per your design needs.
Muse also allows you to create paragraph styles that you can save and apply to chunks of text, a la InDesign. Watch this video for more information: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/muse-feature-tour/using-typekit-with-adobe-muse/
Also take a look at these help files to see if they help you:

  • How do I use the Japanese fonts in Font Book in a Pages document?

How does one use the Japanese fonts in Font Book in a Pages document. Pages has its own fonts but I cannot get the Japanese fonts into it.

To type japanese on a computer you change the keyboard, not the font.  Go to system prefs/keyboard/input sources and add Japanese/Kotoeri to the list, then select Hiragana in the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen, then type.  The font will take care of itself.

  • Using Sinhala Unicode Fonts with Indesign

    Hello,
We are having trouble using  Sinhala Unicode Font with Indesign. We require this to covert content to the EPUB format.
Siyabas - how to install Sinhala Unicode
Do you know if there is a  Plug-in for the Sinhala Unicode Font? Or is there someone in the community working on it?
    Thank you.

Hi, Thanks for your post. We want to convert to reflow able text, which can include illustrations (For Example - Children's Books).
We tried FM Abbhaya Font as it is easy to read and using a traditional Sinhala keyboard input method.
For Some reason we cannot get this input to be recognized by Adobe Indesign, to convert to an Epub format.
We tried the open font on Windows, but it means selecting each character from a table. As a small publisher it is not practical.
In fact the ideal path for us will be to convert our printed books to Epubs using OCR.
Any thoughts on that? Thanks for your time.

  • How do you use edge web font in Edge Reflow?

By default, I don't have a lot of fonts. It's just viewing a few of them.
How can you get the web font for Edge Reflow? Can you use font from fontbook?
Is there a way to download Edge Web Font?

Above: using Brandon Grotesque (web use font) does not display the correct font.
I'm using Typekit and have an internet connection. If I switch to a "desktop use" font, it shows up, so I'm guessing the "web use" only fonts won't show in Reflow. A little frustrating when you're trying to get an accurate preview/determine best font styling because of the back-and-forth workflow.
Above: using Source Sans Pro (desktop use font) does display the correct font.

  • How can I use brandon grotesque font in muse?

Hi, I wanted to use brandon grotesque font in muse as it is a web font in typekit, but i cannot find it in the "web fonts' section in Muse, how can i bring it from Typekit to Muse?

Mark the text you want to assign to the font.
    Access the Text drop-down box.
    Select Add Web Fonts.
Muse will open up the available Fonts through Typekit.
Select the font, double click to import.
Note: the font you want to add doesn't exist in Muses' Typekit library.
I am not sure if you can add a Typekit font that is outside of Muse's library.

  • Using Adobe Thai Font in InDesign

    Hi
I am having trouble with using Adobe Thai Font on text copied from PDF into InDesign(CS3). When typing with Adobe Thai Font in InDesign it shows as a 'normal' font like Arial. When copying from PDF to InDesign the text appears as glyphs almost like Windings.
How do I get the Adobe Thai font to use properly?
    Hop you can help me.
    Kind Regards
    Anne

It's not clear what you're trying to do. As Peter said, typing Roman
characters will get you Roman characters. The Thai font won't translate.
If you set up Thai input, then you can type Thai, or you can just use
    the Glyphs palette.
But you mentioned something about copying from a PDF. What you get from
a PDF depends on how the font used in the PDF was encoded. Does the PDF
use Adobe Thai? You might get better results saving out RTF from the PDF.

  • Hebrew Fonts Mac Indesign CS6

    Hey there!
I'm having problems with my Hebrew fonts and need help. I have Indesign CS6 for Mac and have downloaded the Hebrew Supported version. I have set up my document so that paragraph and character reflect the need for Hebrew. I can use the standard Hebrew system fonts, however I have loads of great Hebrew fonts which are recognised by Font Book but not in Indesign. The weird thing is that on CS4 these fonts were recognised (however at that time I didn't have Hebrew support so ended up typing, letter for letter, backwards to get the text I needed.
Can you give me some indication as to why I am unable to use these fonts? When I try to use them I get this warning:

The warning sounds like it indicates that the font you want to use might not be suitable for Unicode Hebrew.  Are they perhaps in some legacy encoding?
In any case, you should also search/ask in the forums devoted entirely to the problems of Adobe products, if you have not done so already:

  • How do I use a Korean font in an English version of Indesign CS5*

I have created an English brochure for a client, and the same brochure was translated into German. Now I am being asked for a Korean version. Can someone provide some guidance on how best to proceed in Adobe Indesign CS5? I gather that I use Apple Gothic or another font... but it doesn't show up as Korean. Also, is Korean a vertically read font?

Korean is occasionally set vertically, but it's an extremely old-fashioned technique outside of a few limited areas - some ads, the spines of books, et cetera.
To be honest, I'd say "package your InDesign file and send it to a firm or freelancer that specializes in English to Korean translation, with experience in the subject matter of your brochure." It sounds like you are asking for automated machine translation within InDesign; ID has no such ability. There are ways to flow automated machine translations into ID documents, but you're most likely to find those tools in the hands of translation agencies anyways.
No matter where you get your translation done, I'd advise against you trying to typeset the Korean yourself - there are issues with Korean in English-language ID. Without some careful setup, ID will treat Korean characters as if they were Chinese, and will break Korean words in incorrect locations instead of at spaces.

  • How to create PDF without embedded fonts from Indesign

Can anyone tell me how to create from Indesign a PDF that certainly does not contain any fonts I don't want to include? But that would appear in the same layout in a substituted font, including italics and small caps?

You can't, InDesign will embed the fonts for  you.
To unembed fonts you need Acrobat Professional. Go to Tools>Print Production>Pdf Optimiser
    go to Fonts
And select the fonts to unembed.
You could select any text and change the Transparency to 99.9%.
Then in Edit>Transparency Flattener make a new one using High as a base for the new
    Select Convert Text to Outlines.
When you Export to pdf, choose Adobe PDF 1.3, and go to Flattening, choose the new Flattener Preset that you just made.
And when you export it, any text forced through the Flattener will be converted to outlines. (this could violate the terms of the Font Licencing.)

  • How do you change the default font in indesign cs3 on a mac?

Hi, I have tried closing all indesign docs and then changing the font in the font menu to helvetica (from times), then opening a new document and it still gives me [Times (TT)] when i draw a new text box and write something in it.
I have tried quitting indesign and reopening it and its still the old default font of [Times (TT)] - which is also not an available font on my machine.
I have also changed my basic paragraph style to helvetica from times, and it still doesnt change the default font when i open a new document.
When i open a new document in indesign it comes up with helvetica in the character pallet as the font, its just when i go to draw a text box and write something in it that it writes it in Times.

Is it possible you have more than one text frame object style, or that you have some default paragraph style set other than [Basic Paragraph]? If you are only editing Basic Paragraph and your default text frame is set to another syle, or you have another paragraph style selected when you begin typing, you might see this behavior.
If not, try resetting your preferences. Replacing InDesign Preferences

  • How to Use a Downloaded Font

How do I use a downloaded font with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2007?  The font is in a zip file.  What I found on Google gave directions for Windows XP and I was able to find the font dialog box through the control panel, but there was no drop down file option (where I was supposed to be able to simply add the font), which is what all the sources told me to look for in Windows XP ... which doesn't really help for Windows 7.  Please help!
Nothing I post is an official statment of Best Buy or Geek Squad, it is only a helpful opinion!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I can help you out with this! Windows 7 has made it easy for us to do this!
    1. Right click on Zipped file that you have.
    2. Click extract here.
    3. You should see another folder appear that is unzipped.
    4. Open that folder and find the font file. (There are a few different types)
    5. Right click the font file and choose the option "Install"
That should do it! ( You can also delete the 2 folders you are left with once it is installed)
    Hope this helps!

  • How to use Typekit-Desktop-Fonts in other apps or e.g. Font Explorer X Pro on OS X

How can I use Typekit-Desktop-Fonts in other apps e.g. Pages or Font Explorer X Pro on OS X?

    Hello,
Thanks for your interest in Typekit!  This help page shows how to select fonts from Typekit for desktop use and sync them to your computer:
    http://help.typekit.com/customer/portal/articles/1145956
Once the fonts have synced to your Creative Cloud account, they will automatically be added to the font menus in all of your desktop applications, including Pages, Keynote, and Numbers.
Typekit fonts are not added to your font management software, however; you'll manage these font selections directly from the "synced fonts" page in your Typekit account.
I hope that this helps; let me know if you have any other questions!  You may post them here on the forum or email us directly at [email protected]  Best,
