How do i use an iTunes library in a disk other than startup?

I boot off a Solid State Drive (only 240 GB) but have most of my data in a 750 GB HDD.  My media has grown to the point that I cannot fit it into the SSD but easily fits into the HDD.  Can I just use the iTunes library in the HDD?
I found my answer at the following link:

how can I use my itunes library for iphoto slideshow?

    Here's a possible workaround:
Create the slideshow in Iphoto and add a theme and music.
Install Picasa  and it will include the slideshow on it's indexed list.
Upload the slideshow to PicasaWebAlbums and send the link to anyone you wish.
The music and theme is preserved.
Caveat: My playback pictures appear darker than usual but that could be just lousy photography...:)

  • How do I use one iTunes library for several user accounts?

    This is definitely a question!
I have several user accounts for my osx. One I use at home, one at work etc.
What I never have been able ta manage is a way to use the same iTunes library (the same music files) for the different accounts.
When a new user profile is created, everything in it is set to scratch.
I have tried all kinds of tricks:
    - Direct iTunes to look for It's library on the other users folder (wich doesn't really work, cus even if you are Admin you don't have access to other users folders through another user).
    - Creat an alias for the other library-folder and refere to it.
    etc. etc. You name it...
    Anyone?

  • How can I use my ITunes library currently on my desktop, on my laptop?

Having a family party and wanted to play some of the ITunes songs I have on my desktop using my laptop. How do I do this other than with home sharing which if I understand correctly, only works within your home while both computers are on. Party is not in my home and I also want to play more than just "purchased" tracks.

i am sure there will be no problem with access to itunes through your laptop, if you still stay in your country:)

  • How do I move users' home folders to another disk other than boot disk

I would like to move all of my various users' home folders to a different disk. How is this done?
Do I need to then have the disk mount before any users log in? If so, how do I mount it?

But if you are using Leopard (since you are posting in the Leopard category) and simply forgot to update your profile, you can select the location of your home directory by going to System Preferences Accounts pane, and right (control) clicking on your user name to get the +Advanced Options+. You may need to +unlock the lock+ (give authorization) first.
    Here are more specific directions.

Your library will only be where you put it.  Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to the new one.

  • A friend gave me her VAIO laptop. How can I remove her ITUNES library and use mine which I want to sync with my Ipad and Iphone?

A Friend gave me her VAIO laptop. How can I remove her ITUNES library and use my library.  Want to sync my Ipad and Iphone to My library.

I believe when you plug her old iPhone in to your computer it will notify you that the phone is synced with another library and ask if you want to register it with your library.  At least this is how iPods work.  I'm not sure about iPhones.  If you want to actually use the phone as your own you may need to go through AT&T.
If you're just looking to use the iPhone as an iPod (without the phone portion of it) you may run in to some problems.  The iPhone really wants to be on a cell network all the time.  I think you'd have to jailbreak it to get it to work properly as an iPod.
Let us know what happens when you plug the phone in to your computer.

Extract the hard drive from the faulty computer and recover the library from it or see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. (At least one link in there may be useful even if you don't have such a device.)

  • How do I use one iTunes account with multiple macs?

I have a Mac mini and am getting a MacBook Pro.  I want to use my iTunes library that currently resides on my mini on my MacBook as well without jacking up anything.
I have an iPhone, an iPad Air and a classic iPod that are all sync'ed to the iTunes on the mini.

    Hello blcampbell
There are many different ways to handle this and the easiest way is to migrate you data is to use Migration Assistant. It will migrate not only your music but also other content from your Mac Mini. If all you want is music, you can always just select that as an option. The article below will guide you through that option plus a few others if you are unsure how you want to proceed.

  • How can I share my iTunes library between user accounts in iTunes 11

Since upgrading my iTunes library to Version 11 I can no longer share the library between user accounts on the same Mac.
The 2nd user is asked to create oir use an iTunes library, but when it is pointed to the Media folder it cannot share it.
Previously in iTunes 10 it all worked fine.
How can this be done please?
The library is in a shared areas that we both have Read/Write permissions to.

that works for anything he purchases after he creates the new account.  What about his current music that currently resides in my itunes library?  How can I get his current music out of my library into his new account/library??  Thanks..
Copy it to his computer into his iTunes library and authorize his computer with the iTunes account used to purchase them..
You cannot tranfser items from one iTunes account to another. Purchased items remain part of the iTunes account is was purchased with.
iTunes account - used to purchase items
iTunes library - where purchases (and CD RIPs) go on the computer

I just would like to connect my iPad to ONE itunes library and at the same time connect my wifes iPad to the SAME itunes library. Can this be done? How? Thanks! Maybe the answer is something really easy like "just connect both to the computer and sync them".
    Thanks!

Plug them in and use them.
That is all you need to do.
In the answer from Apple I do not find anything about how the 2 exisiting iTunes accounts will be handled.
    They will be handled fine.
All purchases from both iTunes accounts can be sync'd to both/either iPads with no problem.
I have three iTunes accounts (me and two daughters), 3 iPhones, an iPad and a few iPods.
Any/all content can be sync'd to any device, no problems.
