How do i use imessage and facetime on my deactivated iphone 4

I got the new iphone 5s and so now my iphone 4 is deactivated. I am trying to let my sister use my deactive iphone 4 in wifi to facetime and imessage me. How do I do that?

What do you mean by deactivated? If you just mean it no longer has a sim card the 4 will work as it did except make phone calls.

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you linked the phone number to iMessage and iMessage wont turn on. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

The telephone number will be dimmed when you view these settings on an iPhone.

Can't use iMessage and FaceTime on new iPad

I just bought the new iPad WiFi but I can't activate iMessage and FaceTime.. I get message about failed connection to the WiFi network although it is connected and I can browse the web, Facebook, get stream photos and such without trouble.

With iOS 6.1.3 I could use FaceTime and iMessage perfect. Yesterday I updated my iPad (2) to iOS 7 and both Apps said there's a Restriction with this iPad. What can I do?

I was having the same problem on my iPad mini until just a few minutes ago. It kept telling me to check my network, which was working fine with all the other devices in my house. I recently noticed all my FB.posts weren't reflecting the proper time so I checked my Date and Time settings. Sure enough, it was wrong. I adjusted it to the correct time and time zone, logged back into iMessage and now it connects just fine.
I hope this works for you as well.

If you are having trouble activating Facetime or Imessages turn them both off on your device and reset the device (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost)). Wait for the device to restart and wait a minute and turn Facetime and imessage back on and wait for activation. If that does not fix things read the following articles:

Go to settings and check both face time and imessage. Make sure they are both turned on. Also, check restrictions in settings while you are there. Somethingnmay have gotten scrambledmduring the upgrade.

Okay,so I have an iPod touch tht is iOS6.my iMessage sometimes works,and them randomly stops sending and receiving messages and says "not delivered".this issue has been going on for a while now and I don't know how to fix it.ive tried the following:

Hi Meg, I have been having problems as well. I found out there was 2 outages with Apple's servers last Tuesday and Friday. However, I still have some contacts that will not work for iMessage at this point.

If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked. I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. "Sign in with you Apple ID..." I do and I get a message that says "Could not sign in. Please check your network conn. and try again" I can use the safari app on my ipad and browse the internet. I am able to use iMessage and FaceTime on my Iphone 4 so I'm kind of confused. I don't know how to solve this issue. I've already tried the DNS thing, time-zone thing, restore, reboot, you name it, I tried it. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? So if I create an Apple ID for her, can I link it to my email? Will I still be able to sync her iPod to downloaded songs from my Apple ID?

No, sorry. Purchases are permanently tied to the AppleID & Account used when making the purchase. Purchases cannot be transferred to another AppleID.
