How do I use iTunes with new iPod

I have my own video iPod, and use iTunes without a problem.
However, I bought a refurbished iPod for a relative, and am now trying to download music onto this new iPod. When I go into my iTunes with the new iPod connected to my computer, I can't get the new iPod to show up on the task bar -- so I can't download music onto it.
Do I have to create a separate account for this new iPod, or somehow download iTunes again for this new iPod in order to get music onto it???
Thanks.

Using a second iPod is normally just a question of connecting it to your computer choosing how you want to update it and using your existing iTunes. You don't need a separate Windows account unless two users want to use the one computer and maintain separate libraries. You don't need two instances of iTunes for separate accounts. Have you had look at either of these troubleshooting pages?

Video purchased through the iTunes store can be played on your computer, an iPod, through AppleTV. It can't however be transferred to a Motorola Q. Sorry.

  • Old iTunes with new iPod

    Hi,
Here's my question. I have an older iPod from circa 2004. I want to get one of the new 'iPod videos'. If I do this can I use the new iPod with the iTunes that I have on my PC or is the iTunes only allowed to interface with the initial iPod that it was sync'd with.
    thanks guys,
    Dennis

You can use the new iPod without problems. Just make sure that all your tracks are in iTunes (i.e. you don't have any that are just on your old iPod and not in iTunes) and when you connect the new iPod, you'll be stepped through getting it set up, just as when you first connected your old iPod.
If you plan to use both iPods with the same iTunes library, take a look here:

What i want to do is delete some of the songs off my ipod that i have downloaded. Is this possible or no beacuse i dont have a clue.
    Thank you
    Tim

iTunes for Windows and the standard copy protected songs purchased from the iTunes Store are only compatible with the iPod/iPhone range and the iTunes enabled phones from Motorola. You may be able to get your player working with the aid of a third party helper program. Have a look at this one and see what you think: iTunes Agent -Windows
If your player supports drag and drop through Windows Explorer you can drag tracks from the iTunes Music folder rather than through the iTunes interface. Also remember that many players will not work with AAC (MP4) format at present so if you imported anything from CD into iTunes using the AAc encoder then they will need to be converted to MP3. You won't be able to convert iTunes Store copy protected songs, you can only burn them to data discs for backup or Audio CD to play on other players.

  • Itunes with new ipod

Ok I recently just switched ipods from a 5th generation to a 7th generation ipod classic. My question is how do I get Itunes to show me 7th generation games and other 7th generation stuff on Itunes? It keeps showing my 5th generation games for ipod. Are there any games for the 7th gen. ipod? Thanks

There's no such thing as a "7th generation" iPod. If the iPod classic were to be labelled with a generation number (and Apple has not done so), it would be a 6th generation iPod.
So, if you have an iPod classic, you will find all of the games in the iTunes store to be compatible with that model iPod.
Simply clicking on the "iPod games" link on the main home page of the iTunes store will display all the games currently available.

  • How do I sync itunes with my ipod touch without erasing my songs

I buy my songs using the wifi store on my itouch, then I transfer them to my pc. When I synced it, it told me it will have to erase my songs, since I already transfered the songs, I would. But there was a "problem syncing" and it erased my songs and I had to BUY them again. How do I sync it

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you will need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Then connect the iPod to your computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod fom that backup.
You can also redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Using ITunes with 2 Ipods

My son and I each have a 30GB Ipod. My son has over 200 songs in iTunes. We listen to different types of music. How do I put only my downloaded music onto my Ipod without checking and unchecking his songs? Can I Tunes be on 2 differnt machines? If it can, how do I move his over 200 songs to his I Tunes? Here is some info that might help.
My computer is running XP Pro(I Tunes installed)
    Son's computer Vista(no I Tunes)

Just for future questions, this is the iPhone forum, not the iPod forum. Unless you have an iPhone that you don't mention, you'll generally get the quickest and most accurate responses if you ask in the appropriate iPod forum or, for question about iTunes itself, in the iTunes forums.

  • How can I use iTunes with 3 devices with 3 different apple-id

    Hello.
My problem is that we purchase 3 different devices (iPod, iPhone and iPad1) on different times and activate them with different apple-id´s - niot knowing the problems we get.
Now I buy an iMac and want to organize the data of all 3 devices (which unfortunaly have different purchases of music, books and films)  with that new iMac.
What can I do to get the data synchronised with all devices without loosing data? Out of this pool I than want to synchronise only selected items of music and books to the different devices.
Apple says that it is not possible to merge that 3 accounts to one account. Also my try to share the date with home shareing doesn´t work.
    Any help out there?
    Thanks

Log out of your Apple ID with iMessage at Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID. Select your Apple ID and at the menu window that appears, select Sign Out. Follow this by turning iMessage off.
Turn iMessage back on and try to re-authorize your iPhone with your Apple ID with iMessage which should register your new cell phone number.
