How do i use my existing headset with my new 13" macbook pro?

the 13" Macbook Pro is missing the audio input socket and there is only the headphone socket. If you look at the 15" and 17" models you'll notice that there are 2 seperate ports for audio input and output. All the description says is: "Combined optical digital output/headphone out (user-selectable audio analog line in)" In the WWDC keynote they said that less than 1% of 13" owers actually used the audio input jack ...
so how do I plug in / use my existing dual jack headset?

migrate the itunes library from the old computer to the new computer then sync as usual

  • HT1918 How do I use my existing AppleID with out a credit card to access ITunes!

    This is madness!
I created my AppleID as informed to, the way without any card details.
I tried to use it to sign into ITunes and have to review my account, now it wants credit card details and I havnt got one!
I have looked around these forums for about an hour and the pages are appsolute rubbish! All Apple do is send you into a mad loop so you HAVE to enter credit card!!! I dont bloody have one!!!!
How do I use my existing appleID to sign into ITunes when all I get is review my account, then it always asks me for credit card information?
I will be throwing this ipod straight back at the shop tomorrow if I can't resolve this!!!
    Can anyone actually help please!

I'm off down town tomorrow to return this piece of ****...............
Apple, how can you make a piece of free software that will only let me 'sign in' after you have credit card details? All the music I have just ripped from my own cd collection will now show up with no album art and song names?
Unless anyone has an alternative program that you can drag and drop music onto a nana within the next 24 hours, mine is going back!

  • How to Force mac Thunderbolt External Display with Integrated GPU for Macbook Pro 2012?

I have been getting GPU Panic whenever I use external Thunderbolt Display.
Not sure whether this is software after(Mavericks) or hardware, if anybody could shed some light I would appreciate it.
The Current Discrete GPU will only work for few seconds 10 sec max before it became blank and require you to force shutdown. This also happened even without external display Blank and GPU Panic upon restart. So I suspected either the discrete GPU failure or software in Mavericks.
But at the moment I'm looking for workaround so I can use the intel intergrated GPU to use my Mac Thunderbolt External Display.
Thank you in advance for any input.

  • Yosemite is messing with my new Retina Macbook Pro's sound output, help.

I just got my new Retina Macbook Pro 2 months ago and have been noticing some audio output issues. When I try to connect an external third-party audio device to run my KRK monitors my computer does not recognize the device and will not switch the audio output. After trying to set it manually my macbook won't even revert to the internal speakers for output and then I have to reboot my pro in order to get audio output again. This will happen randomly throughout the day after my computer has been in sleep as well, and sometimes the volume buttons get greyed out as well. Please help me with this issue as this is a new computer and it is becoming a nuisance. Even when connecting through HDMI, my audio output does not function and no sound will come out of the TV. I realize that this is probably a Yosemite glitch, but I just need to know if there is any fixes for this issue. Thanks so much for your time,
    Sam Migliazza

  • Can I use my existing timecapsule with a new one?

I'd like to upgrade to a new time capsule. I've got an old one with only 500Gb of internal storage, so it's not really big enough for all my backups.
I'm wondering if I can get some service from my existing one, even if I get a new one. Is there any point in daisy chaining them? Can I set up the old one somewhere in the house to increase coverage (of the garden, say)?
Alternatively, is there a problem keeping the existing one going - might it interfere with the new one and cause a deterioration of signals?
I also thought of putting ADSL on my other 'phone line and using on time capsule on each line. It'd be good for redundancy, but I don't know if there's a solution where you can do load balancing across two ADSL lines. Is there one using time capsules?

  • Using my existing HD with the new iMac's USB 3.0

    Hi,
I’m planning on buying the new iMac as soon as it comes out but I noticed that it doesn’t have any USB 2.0 ports and I was wondering if I would be able to use my existing external hard drives since they are USB 2.0.
Will I be able to use my existing USB 2.0 HD with the new iMac using the USB 3.0?
    Thanks a lot

Yes. USB 3.0 can be used by devices and connections from USB 2.0

  • How do I use my iPhone 4s with a new computer without losing all my data?

Basically long story short my laptop just died, I can't get it past the start up screen and have subsequently lost all my music, files and iTunes Libary - and yes I know it's dumb of me not have a back up and I will not be making that mistake again - I have purchased a new laptop running windows 8 however as my iPhone is synced with my old laptop it will not allow me to sync with the new one without losing all of my data. Now I manually managed everything bar my apps on my old laptop but when I check to manually manage eveerything on the new laptop I obviously get the error message I will lose data when it syncs to the new laptop and I don't know what to do.
I've lost all my music before and when I don't have my old files to back up what I lose I'm at a loss... can anyone help?
If I click to manually manage will I just lose my apps as this was the onlyu thing synced with my old laptop? I can cope losing these....

Please search the forums. This has been covered here extensively.

  • How Can I use Type II PC Cards (cardbus) On My Macbook Pro

    Greetings...
I have tried a search but to no avail.... I was given FREE of charge a EVDO pc card to use with UNLIMITED usage p/month...PROBLEM is I have Macbook Pro original release.. the card is obviously the Type II pc card..
    1. is there any way i can use this card with my macbook pro?
    2. what is the official "name" of my model? i.e. 1st release.. ect. ect..
    3. what other way can i make this work?
    please do advise..
    thank you kindly!!
    oNe

    Hi Sean,
    1. I found this with a quick Google search: http://www.duel-systemsadapters.com/?productid=DP-0001
Only catch with this is the cost of the adapter negates the free pc card.
    2. Not sure of an official name other than MacBook Pro and then it's CPU speed and its chip designation (i.e. Core Duo, Core 2 Duo). I've seen the last couple of generations referred to by Intel's designations (i.e. Santa Rosa, Penryn).
    3. Don't know any other way other than getting an Expresscard-compliant card.
    HTH.

  • How can i use my phone number for imessage on my macbook pro?

I have been trying to sync my iMessages between my iPhone 4s and my macbook pro but it will only use my email. I have been told to change the setting in the message menu but I can't seem to find that! Help me please!!!
    Thank you!

TRy to check on your imessage setting on your iphone. It should be setting>messages> imessage. If you can see your phone number then your mac will be able to see your message. If not toggle the message on and off. Once activated your mac will ask you if you would like to use your number for imessage, click agree(0r yes) then you will also receive a message on your iphone that your mac started using your phone number for imessage

  • I have an old 23 inch cinema display will it be compadible with the new retina MacBook pro?

So I have an old 23 inch cinema display from 2006 and it's been in our basement for a few years and I'm going to buy the new MacBook pro with retina display I'm wondering if these 2 products will be compatible so I could work at my desk the display Powers up fine I just need to know if they're compatible ?

Assuming your 23" Cinema Display has a DVI connector or a built-in DVI cable, all you'll need will be a mini-displayport-to-single-link-DVI adapter or cable, and the display should work well.

  • How do I use my bluetooth headset with apple maps?

I can't seem to get apple's maps to talk to my headset -- it's only using it's own speaker (I don't have a bluetooth-enabled car). Any ideas?

I can pair the headphones with the computer but the sound from GB is distorted and muffled. I can barely hear it. The set works with iTunes, but not with GarageBand.

  • How do I use old data files with a new installation in Oracle 9i

I am in an unenviable position, with an unsupported database.
We are running Oracle 9i on Windows XP. We are upgrading soon to Oracle 11g on a newer platform, but need to get our development environment working first.
We lost a system that was running our development database without having a database export. The C drive was placed into a new system as the D drive.
I have loaded Oracle 9i on the C drive, but I have been unable to determine how to point it to the existing data files on the D drive. My search skills may be the limiting factor here...
We cannot simply load the drive as C, since the hardware is different.
What are the steps to point the new database software at the data files on the D drive? Or, how do I copy the old data files into the new Oracle Home and have them recognized properly?
    Thanks for any advice.

Are you stating that you don't know how to use COPY command?
Can you recreate same directory structure on new C drive as exist on old C drive?
Can you then drag & drop copies of the files?
