How do I use my mac in europe?

how do I use my macbook pro in europe?

buy a socket adapter that is for the country you're planning on visiting and plug it in...
your macbook works without buying a transformer since it's rated for 110 to 240 volts...

  • How do I use a Mac Mini + Airport Express + Time Machine disk to backup another iMac

How do I use a Mac Mini + Airport Express + Time Machine disk to backup another iMac?
The question pretty much says it all.
I have a Mac Mini with an attached 3TB Hard Drive used for Time Machine Backups.
I have an Airport Extreme base station which services that machine plus several others.
I would like to backup my new iMac and a MacBook Pro to the Mac Mini.
What do I need to do on the mini to export that hard drive so that it can be used as a Time Machine target from the other systems?
    All systems are running 10.6.8.

Well you would have to do backups over a network which is much slower and has highest chance of becoming corrupt. I think your best option would be to get an apple time capsule to act as a network and back if thats how you wanna do that

You can only return the machine if you're within 14 days of purchase - otherwise you're just 'stuck' with what you purchased (unless you sell it, of course).
I always recommend that Retina owners order 16GB of RAM as the RAM is not upgradable - it's soldered onto the logic board.
Your call - if you're with 14 days of purchase, take it back and exchange for a 16GB model. Or sell it and buy a model with 16GB. The higher amount of memory will allow you to run far more memory-hungry apps concurrently.
    Good luck,

  • How do i use my .mac email with iCloud?

I had a .mac account with mobile me which i switched over to iCloud when prompted. I just receently bought a brand new iMac and want to use my .mac email in the apple Mail program but it's not working. I'm assuming the "type" of email is iCloud. Any suggestions on how to get it up and running?

Don't try to set it up in the Mail program. Go to System Preferences>iCloud and sign in with your @me.com email address. Check Mail in the checklist there, and any other data types you want to sync.  Mail will be set up automatically and both the @me.com and @mac.com versions of your address should work.

  • How can I use my Mac OS X for the next time

    Dear sir,
Please, I need your help about Mac OS X and how can I use the OS for the next time I mean when I'm going to format my computer or to use for the another computer.
By the way... I already installed the Mac OS X to my MacBook Pro so please I'm waiting for you advice.
    Mohammed Hussein

    Hi,
He bought the iMac two years after mine.
Would his Mac still be under warranty? It sounds like it is about only a year old and so may be still eligible for phone support, though that may depend on having nearby access to an Apple Tech support.
He could get a replacement disk sent to him as well. The cost,  I don't know.
Your disk would probably work, but you don't need to burn one; just use yours. If you are in two locations, then it would be better for Apple to mail him a replacement disk for his particular Mac.

  • How do I use my Mac's mic and speaker when answering a phone call?

Whenever I receive a phone call on my iPhone and answer it on my Mac, the speaker and mic on the iPhone are used for the call rather than the Mac. On an older Mac I was using, when I answered a call from my iPhone, it used the Mac's speaker and mic for the call. Is there a setting somewhere to fix this on the new Mac? When I make calls from the Mac, it uses the speaker and mic, but it doesn't when I answer them. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • How do I use my Mac plugged into power?

Hey guys, I usually use my laptop at home, plugged into power, for 3-4 hours a day (at night, most of the time), always with full charge.
I'm aware of the battery calibration and that Apple suggests that we do it once a month and everything.
My doubt is, during the period when I'm not using my Mac (during daytime, when I'm at work), what's preferable:
    1. That I leave it plugged into the power, so the charger keeps the green light and the battery level?
    OR
    2. That I unplug it from power when I'm not using and then, when I get home to use, I plug it and use?
I've been doing the second way, but I'm afraid that during the hours that the laptop is off and unplugged from power, that it might lose some battery capacity and then, when I plug it again, the charger start to charge the battery.
Anyway, the way I've been doing, when I connect the charger, it's always the green light, it never starts to charge, although the battery level never exceeds 99% ( but it says "fully charged").
    So, what's preferable?
    Thanks!

There is no reason to leave the computer on battery power if you can connect it to an AC power source. Leave it connected to the charger unless you need to use it on battery power.

  • How Can I use 2 Macs and a PC with two monitors

This is for my office at work.
I currently am using dual monitors and sharing those between a G4 and a PC. I'm using a Belkin switch box for the two computers. I'm adding a Mac Pro. I'm thinking I might use the Mac Pro by itself at another workstation but I would like to use it at my current workstation along with my other machines.
I'm getting a new 23" monitor with the Mac Pro. I want to use it as my main monitor, then use one of my other monitors as a second screen. Is it possible to use two monitors with 3 computers? I would have to use the new keyboard and mouse (both will be standard, not wireless) on both of the macs and use the PC keyboard and mouse.
    Thank You
    Jim

I would use the new Mac Pro as the main workstation and attach your mouse, keyboard and your new monitor to it.
Then use the Belkin Switch Box to connect 1 monitor to the G4 and PC.
Download and configure 'Synergy' (http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/) on the new Mac Pro (as the primary) and the G4 and PC (as secondary) - This will allow you to deal with only one keyboard and mouse.
I'm with Malcolm, I would download and install VMware Fusion. VM the PC w/ Converter (http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/) and only deal with the new Mac Pro and G4. With the new Mac Pro, you can fire up the PC VM with 2 cores and have it set to a secondary space. You will not notice the difference.

  • How do I use a Mac keyboard for Windows functions?

I just changed from an HP to a MacBook Pro and I'm running Windows XP on part of the hard drive. The problem is that I'm missing my key buttons, like <fn><prt sc> to print the screen or <insert> and <delete>. I can't figure out how to compensate for the lack of the buttons on the keyboard.
Any solutions? Does anyone know where there is a good reference for this sort of thing?

I don't know of a chart, there should be one out there.
    There is a utility, "InputRemapper"
    check http://www.versiontracker.com or Google
what it does is let you map keys on MacBook etc. I use it because it also boosts the fan speed, otherwise my system can get too warm so it needs something, and there is no mechanism in Windows and with Apple's BootCamp services it seems, to use the thermal sensor data to adjust the fans. There are 3rd party like InputRemapper that might - but would like to see it "bundled."
Did you check the search field above next to Support for "BootCamp"

  • How do I use IB(Mac) to display text from opened tty port?

    I'm using OSX10.9.4, XCode 5.1.1 etc, Mac Mini. 2012. 16GB. Fast processor.
I can open the serial/usb port and read the data from it with a [command line] tool...

What I'd like to be able to do is display the data that comes in live in a Graphical Interface, not as a command line tool. It also saves it to a file, and perhaps it's easier to read the continuously built file? Certainly for building historical data.

you can do this with the firewall (ipfw) or ssh. id suggest googling those and also posting this in the UNIX forum here. Ive never attempted to do it but i know it can be done with either. which you use will depend on what you need to accomplish.

  • 2 Macs, 1 blog site.  How can I use 2 Macs to edit my iWeb site???

I have a Mac at home and my laptop at work. Both have iLife '06 on the and iWeb. I just designed a web site (and uploaded it) using iWeb, and I'd like to add to it from my laptop at work. I brought a pushlised copy with me, but there's no way to load it for iWeb to read it!
Is there somewhere I can copy the site files to on my laptop so when I open iWeb, it recognizes them?

  • How can I use my Mac G3 (OS 9.2.2) to make Windows disk images and compress them into Windows stuffed archives?

I have a collection of old Windows diskettes, 800 K and 1.4 MB.  I want to make disk images (or whatever is the Windows equivalent) and compress them into Windows stuffed archives.  I want Windows users to be able to download them, expand the stuffed archives, extract the disk images, and use the softsare on old Windows computers.  I need to do the work on a Power Macintosh beige G3 Tower using OS 9.2.2.  What software can I get to do it?

    To Jan, Greetings
Thank you for your message and for your suggestions.
Is WinZip a Mac application that makes compressed files that can be opened on a Windows computer?  If so, then do you have any notion where I could find a version old enough to run on OS 9.2.2?
I noticed that DropStuff 6.0, which I use on my G3 Tower, has an option to make compressed files that are self-extracting on Windows.  Do you know if that works?  I suppose that I could make such a file and then find somebody with a Windows computer to test if for me.
Yes, I could (shudder) get an old Windows computer somewhere, learn to use it, and do the project that way.  Do you know if the old versions of Windows include disk image programs and file compression  programs?  Or, would I need to buy some old software?
Thank you for the information about the size of the diskettes.  As you've probably noticed, I don't know very much about Windows things.
    Sincerely,
    Frontiersman

Check your machine's actual specifications here.
It looks like you can support up to 3 MByte in a 17" iMac and up to 4 Mbyte in a 20" iMac, if your cache size coordinates with the specs on the linked page.
OWC says you should be able to put 4 Gbyte into your machine here.  Wherever you get the memory, it would be a good addition.  This is the Apple Store listing for your machine, as near as I can figure it.

  • How do i use my MAC as a TV?

I'm not too system savvy and so need a little help.  thank you for whatever help you give.

The Apple store (and other retailers) sell devices to enable you to watch live TV on your Mac.  Elgato are a major manufacturer.  Either search for them on Google (products are called EyeTV) or look in video accessories on the Apple store website.  This is one rather expensive and advanced example (there are cheaper ones from the same manufacturer which are less advanced):
