In Reminders - just long-press on a blank and then type in your Reminder. Pressing the PLUS allows you to start a new list altogether.

you should be able to update if you connect your phone to iTunes on the computer.
Create a backup first and then update to iOS 6.1.3, Facebook is integrated in that version.

I just downloaded both the new iTunes and the new iPhone iOS 5 software. On the iTunes program on my computer, when I look in the summary tab, it says my iPhone is up to date with the 5 software. However, when I try to use my phone, all I can do is enable location settings, select a wifi network, and select to restore my phone from iTunes backup. The next and last thing I see on my phone is "Connect to iTunes" when I am already connected to iTunes. The program on the computer says it has been synced, but I cannot use my phone at all beyond this prompt. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP! ):

Long shot but here we go... the setup for iOS5 requires some user input into the actual iPhone itself ie putting in apple id for icloud and wifi stuff. As far as your computer is concerned you are still updating until youve done this stuff.

I use ical for my dog grooming business & the ical was perfect for it but when I did the update to my ipad it is very difficult to use. On the old one I could look at the month ahead & if I seen a day that I wanted to look at I could just double click on that day & it would pull that day up for me but now I have it takes me for ever to figure out how to look up what I need to. I went through all the avenues to avoid paying $19 + tax for an Apple service call, and I will share my issue and solution here. I did all the removing of the calendar, resyncing and still had no calendar on my iPod.
The last time this happened, I believe it was an issue with the installer file. I think the Senior Tech just wanted to make sure it didn't happen ever again.
This time, I talked with a normal IT Tech (for free), after waiting some time, she came back and asked me to reset my iPod. For those of you that need the step-by-step here it is (mine is an iPod Classic 120 GB):
- Move the lock button back and forth, until you see the display change from lock to unlock
- Hold down Menu button and middle circular button (I guess you can call this the ENTER button) simultaneously until Apple logo appears in middle of screen (and nothing else)
- Wait a matter of moments until the screen comes back with your menu items, icons, etc.
- Check to verify calendar is there.
If the other options above don't work, this is the next step. Save yourself $20 and try this first.
Good advice (that I am going to try in the future): just reset your iPod every month or two, and avoid all the hassle I had!

ICal opens by itself when I use reminders on iOS 5, then it crashes.

Whenever I create a new reminder on my iPod touch, the iCal on my OS opens by itself. And that's not all, it opens and stays freezed. So I have to close it and reopen it to use the iCal.
Anyone having the same problem?

If none of the previous stuff worked do this:
Type 'msconfig' in Start & press Enter
In Services, disable 'iPod Service'
Restart
That's probably it but if you're still having trouble you can also try:
Type 'msconfig' in Start & press Enter
In Startup, disable 'Apple Push'
Open iTunes
Show menu bar (if it's not already showing)
Edit --> Preferences --> Store
Uncheck 'Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases'
Restart

I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. This will not, however, avoid wiping any non-purchased media from your phone (ripped CDs, etc.) as this is only synced one way: from your computer to your phone. You will have to either rebuild your iTunes library with this content and sync again to restore it to your phone, or purchase 3rd party software to copy it from your phone to iTunes prior to syncing (such as Touch Copy).

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

You cannot 'roll back' your iOS. That's never been supported or allowed by Apple (with only one exception).

It's not the iOS. It may be a setting on your iPhone or the wi-fi network, or a hardware issue. But it's not the iOS. If it was, then everyone's iPhone 5S using the same iOS would not be working, and that's not the case.
Troubleshoot your issue.
