How do I use Safari RSS?

I have RSS in Mail and it is straightforward.  Just click on one of the folders.  Subscribing to a site is easy also since a window will come up with 'subscribe in Mail' as a choice on the site I am subscribing to.  I have not noticed one for Safari.  I explored Safari and the only page I could find for RSS is in the bookmarks list that comes up after clicking the open book on the toolbar.  I do not want to use Safari RSS if it does not have a listing of all new RSS's that come in daily.  I would like to transfer all the Mail RSS's to Safari if Safari has as handy a page.  I could not find a real explanation about Safari RSS in support.

Hi,
I realise [this article refers to NetNewsWire|http://www.tuaw.com/2007/07/30/an-easy-way-to-import-netnewswire-fe eds-into-safari> and not Vienna, but have you tried drag-n-drop as they suggest there?

  • How can i use safari without it crashing on me everytime i open it?

when i open the safari browser it only stays up for a few minutes until a window pops up and says "safari has stopped working" and "windows is checking for a solution to the problem" and then the browser completely closes. this happens everytime i open safari. How do i get this to stop so i can use safari again?

Fingers crossed, your Windows 7 will have been recording some additional information about those.
First, open your Action Center and expand "Maintenance". Click "View reliability history":
Once the reliability report has been generated, look for Critical events for Safari generated at the time of the "Safari has stopped working" messages. Doubleclick the name Safari in the critical events. (Don't click View solution.) Here's a screenshot showing what to doubleclick:
You should see something that looks like the following screenshot:

  • How can I use an RSS feed in my course?

The University System of Georgia goes to considerable effort to provide its 36 institutions with a content management system that auto-generates RSS feeds, including iTunes U-specific tags.  We use it to feed content to our iTunes U public sites as well as in many other venues such as our statewide LMS.  These RSS feeds also work nicely with the authenticated side of iTunes U  which some faculty still use to support their classes.
So why is it that I cannot use an RSS feed in my all new iTunes U course?

Just to confirm that you originally had a podcast accepted in the iTunes Store, and now you have had a second version accepted with a different Store URL? The procedure you have followed is the correct one, though I don't know how long it's likely to take the Store staff to get round to removing it. Just remove the original feed from the server: it will still show in the Store, which has cached it, but obviously subscribing won't work, and the absence of the feed may encourage the Store staff to remove the Store page.

  • How do I use Safari or Outlook Express for e-mail?

I have Mac OS 10.3.5 and Safari. I am going to switch my ISP with AOL dial-up to a DSL company possibly with Yahoo. I have never used Outlook Express. Now, I want to use either Safari or Outllok Express 5.0 for my e-mail. I want to save all the e-mail in my compter. Which program can work better for me? How do I start to set up e-mail?
Thank you very much in advance for your advice and instruction.
    Robert

Safari does not do email (except if it is web email which all browsers can do.) Outlook Express only works with OS 9, there is no OS X version. OS X comes with a dedicated email application called Mail. You will find it in your Applications folder.
If you open the Mail application and select Mail Help from the Help menu you will find all the information on how to configure Mail for your email needs.

  • How do I use Safari full-screen?

I would like to have full-screen use of Safari without seeing the toolbar along the bottom of the screen. Can anyone advise me of how to do this? It seems a waste to have an inch of a 13" display taken up with the applications I can choose to use by closing or minimising safari.
    Thanks

"I would like to have full-screen use of Safari without seeing the toolbar along the bottom of the screen"
    You can re-position the "Dock"
If the Dock is in your way, you can hide it, change its size, or move it to another side of the screen.
To hide the Dock, choose Apple menu > Dock > Turn Hiding On.
To move the Dock, choose Apple menu > Dock > ”Position on Left” or “Position on Right.”
To change the size of the Dock, locate the separator between the row of application icons in the Dock and the Trash. Then move the mouse over the separator until the pointer becomes an up and down arrow, press the mouse button, and drag the arrow up and down.
To see the Dock when it’s hidden, move the pointer to the bottom of the screen. If you’ve moved the Dock to the left or right, move the pointer to that side of the screen.

  • How do I use safari v8 to navigate as I did with my former safari versions?

I just got a Mac Air with OS X Yosemite (Safari V8).  I cannot figure out how to do the simplest thing!  .... like navigate to see the yahoo or google web site home page --- even when I set up my preferences. The tutorial did not help - is there an article or info on this? I have been a Mac user for years and this browser is sooo different, I do not know where to start!

  • HOw to better use safari (or another browser)

When you click and drag the bottom-left corner of safari and drag it narrower the vertical scroll will magically appear at some magic length. On some websites the text in the middle will compress itself into a narrower area leaving the side columns intact. In others the window will narrow from the left and inwards.
I was wondering if there was any way of forcing a website to narrow from the left when it by default compresses the middle. This will come in handy when I want to have more windows open and visible at the same time. I want to remove the adds on the side instead of just compressing the center text/other media.
    Maybe there's a hotkey?

That is a function of how the site was coded. Some areas of a page could have absolute sizes while other areas have relative sizing. For example if I develop a site with a vertical menu on the left side I may want that menu area to stay the same width regardless of the browser width. So I'll make the menu container a fixed width so that the menu always displays as I wanted it to. I may allow the areas to the right of the menu area to change size as the user reduces or expands the size of their browser.

  • How to use iweb rss feed in an iphone web app?

So this is my dilemma.  I wanted my iweb turned into a web app using the rss feed.
This is simply done cause of the "Add To Homescreen" feature.
While the RSS feed works beautifully on safari... it does not read as a webapp.
This surprised me cause I thought it would still be safari that would be loading my web app.
I tried everything to get my RSS feed to work in a web app but i failed miserably.
Is there a fix for this?

Adding to the homescreen doesn't make it a webapp.
It creates a shortcut to the webpage, just as dragging a url to the desktop creates a .webloc file.
    You want an iWeb "webapp"?
Add this page to the homescreen and then click that icon :
    http://www.wyodor.net/_Demo/Fancy/Dynamic_Text.html
Then click the links in the dynamic textboxes.
I leave it to you to figure out how it's done. Hint : read the documentation.
To summarize : you want a fix for a problem that does not exist.

  • Safari & RSS how-to

    Hello.
I'm new to Safari, but have more or less got to grips with it. The only thing I'm having difficulty with at the moment in RSS feeds. I used to have several in Firefox. They were displayed on the top bookmark bar and acted as folders. I clicked on one (say, BBC news main page) and the menu would pop down displaying all the titles for that feed. I don't seem to be able to do that with Safari. Is that right, or have I just missed something?
Also, if that feature isn't available, how can I use RSS feeds? I can't seem to work out how they operate in Safari. I can bookmark a feed page, but that seems to only give me a standard bookmark - which is pretty useless. I want to be able to see that the site / feed has been updated, and if possible, what the updates are.
I had a look at the support documents, but they weren't much help. Can anyone help?

To create a folder of the RSS feeds for a particular category or site, click on the book icon on the bookmark bar (far left). This opens your Bookmarks Manager. There, in the collections column, single-click on "bookmarks bar". On the right side, click the + at the bottom of the window. This will create a folder, which you can personally name.
If the particular RSS feeds already exist, use the spotlight panel at the bottom of the page to find the bookmark. Once you locate it, drag it to the new folder you created. Otherwise, click the bookmark icon to return to the normal browser window. There, surf to a RSS feed. Once loaded, click the bookmarks bar going back to the Bookmarks Manager. There, you can drag/drop the bookmark into the applicable RSS folder.
Give it a try, letting me know how you make out. Once you get the hang of it, you can create multiple folders for the bookmarks bar, each having RSS feeds specific to your needs. For example, on my bookmarks bar, I have a folder for Apple information. When I click on the folder, it reveals the various feeds, each with a number next to it showing the number of new items since I last looked at the page.

I have just updated to iOS7, no icon for browser, was using Safari, how do I get it back and can I reverse the upgrade and go back to iOS6?  Thanks to you from the UnTechie

The icon for Safari has probably moved to make room for new apps. Scroll the Home screen to look for it.
    You cannot reverse the upgrade.

  • I am trying to import Firefox bookmarks from a Windows machine into Firefox on an Apple. I do not want to use Safari. How do I do this?

am trying to import Firefox bookmarks from a Windows machine into Firefox on an Apple. I do not want to use Safari. How do I do this?
I have, on my HP laptop, running XP Pro, using Firefox 4.0, went under bookmarks to show all bookmarks. A window opens up that says library. I then go to import and back up, and I choose export HTML. I then move this file over to my new Mac Pro. On my Mac Pro I also have Firefox 4.0. I go up under bookmarks, show all bookmarks, import HTML. It lets me browse and I find the file on the desktop, I select it then nothing happens. I am not interested in using Safari. I would like to continue using Firefox. However, as an experiment, I followed the same process except on my Apple computer I opened up Safari and tried to import in the Firefox bookmarks. It came up with an error saying the file could not be accessed. I then thought perhaps the file got corrupted, so I went back to my Windows Firefox and re-exported the bookmarks again. Same problem. So, am I creating the bookmarks incorrectly on my Windows machine?
    Thanks,
    Kent

Probably your Mac cannot understand the Windows html format, please try the following to see if it helps:
In your PC, export the bookmarks in html as you did in your post. After you have saved it, change the name of the file to “bookmarks.html” and save it again.
In your Mac, import the saved file as you posted.

  • When i click on safari to use the internet it says "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet", but i am connected to a wifi network so how do i get safari to work?

when i click on safari to use the internet it says "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet", but i am connected to a wifi network so how do i get safari to work?

you may be connected to the wireless network but the question is the internet working properly on the wireless network...
what i mean is that i can make a wireless network without the internet so i can save and share files and have other devices connected to the same network access them... but you have to make sure that your internet it running properly... may have to reconfigure the router is your using PPPOE or if it was working prior to your post then try to restart your modem... that usually resolves most issues.
