I RECENTLY HAD TO SET MY COMPUTER TO THE FACTORY SETTINGS AFTER A SYSTEM RECOVERY. HOWEVER
BEFORE DOING THIS I BURNED 7 BACKUP DISKS TO SAVE MY SETTINGS. NOE HOW DO I USE THESE DISKS
TO RESTORE MY ORIGINAL SETTINGS?

Put in your first recovery disc, then go into your BIOS and set the your cd/dvd drive as the first boot device, exit saving settings, your computer should restart and boot off your recovery disc.

Connect phone to computer.
Select Restore.
Tell iTunes which of the available backup files to use, let iTunes restore it.

I am running a HP-DV6 6090ee laptop with windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS. This problem started from last evening.

Backup from a later IOS version cannot be used to restore on iPhone with a earlier IOS version.
You need to update the iPhone to the latest IOS 7.1 version first before you can restore the backup.

Certain master images are gone: how do I use my backup vault to restore?

Images stored in a folder (the little blue book icon) named Dogs is suddenly empty. Apparently the Masters are gone too. I have searched through the Library, in the original project, by date. They are gone.
(I think I know how I lost them — by renaming other images accidently keyworded as Dogs.)
But the issue is: how do I get back these images?
I have the Library backed up to a Vault on a dedicated external FW hard drive. I have read the posts about restoring the library, but am terrified to make a misstep, with all my images at risk.
I would very deeply appreciate advice on how to proceed — that is, use the vault to restore the lost images.

Choose File>Vault>Restore Library. Aperture will show you an alert that your old library will be renamed. If this is OK click restore. After the restoration is complete Aperture will prompt you to relaunch Aperture. After relaunch you'll see another dialogue box. If everything is OK click Recover Now. The next feedback you'll get is Recovery Complete. Click OK and you're done.

The TM cannot access its sparsebundle because it is already mounted somewhere. Whether true or not.. you need to apply the standard fix. Reboot the TC. ie unplug the power and count to 10.. then power the TC again.

How to set up the number of tabs restored at once after a reboot?

I usually have opened one or two windows with a total of 15-20 tabs at once. When I restart Firefox, it loads the tabs in the background, but only three at a time. It can get a while to load all of them, and it is sluggy while loading. I have a four core processor and lots of RAM, so I wouldn't mind to trade processor time and/or RAM for speed. Also, I don't mind wandering in about:config or installing a new add-on. How can I set up Firefox so it loads more (about 8-10) tabs at once while restoring a session?

Why that change? Why deprecate a setting that only power users who knew what they were doing changed, and that can do good in the right hands? Is there any hope that this setting (or a similar one) will get enabled in a future release?
Lately, I'm having a feeling that Mozilla no longer thinks about its power users, the ones that will evangelize more, and makes breaking changes without worrying about them. The ones that are fleeing to the other open source browser. Maybe it's time for me to think about switching, too. Sadly...

How do I reformat my backup disk?

I deleted a file from an external hard drive that I use to make Time Machine backups from my MacBook Air. Apparently I did something wrong (I moved the file to trash on my computer, but didn't empty trash before ejecting the disk, I suspect that the problem is) and now I cannot use the backup disk any longer, because it says that it is "read only". I used Disk Utility to verify and try to repair the disk, but I can't. It says this: "Error: Disk Utility can’t repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files." Since the disk is a backup, I don't need to know how to do that, but can som

If you deleted a file you need to recover you can use a utility like data rescue or disk warrior.
They are expensive though.
If you just want to reformat the backup disk that is easy.
In Disk Utility go to the Partition tab and select Partition Layout.. change it to one or two partitions .. whatever you like.
Click on the options below the graphic of the disk partition.
Ensure the disk is partitioned correctly using GUID not MBR.
Ensure the disk is going to be formatted.. Mac OS extended Journaled .. that is the only acceptable format.
Then click apply.
However if you do this.. your file that you deleted is lost forever. (I am just unsure if you want to recover this file or not.. or it was you think the cause of all this happening).

hey guys, im going to try and make the story short and to the point.
basically, i had a macbook pro and i backed it up and then it got water damaged. so now i have the backup on a external hard drive but MY macbook is fried. my dad is letting me use his now so thats good. my question is, how do i use the backup on my external hard drive? i want to make a separate user on my dads computer and use the backup of my old computer on that user.

Your best bet is to log on to an Admin account and use +Migration Assistant+ to transfer your user account. See [Using Migration Assistant|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/Migrate.html].

I dumped by corporate wIn-pc environment that I was forced to use for the past ...forever. Have been delighted with the Mac experience..... for 24 months..but these type of un-resolved matters with terse error messages reminds me of the bad old days.
I had the problem 2 weeks ago and solved it by "clicking about" after reading the forum Can't remember what i did though. V. V. V. frustrating when the Mac is a business tool. I don't want to be a mechanic, I want to be a driver.

I'm on Mountain Lion and have version 6.1 of AirPort utility so there is no button to "Disconnect All Users"and the only other option of "removing and re-selecting the drive via Time Machine Prefs" doesn't work either. So this will work.
Launch Airport Utility and select the TC "Edit" button, then select the Disks tab. Deselect "Enable File Sharing" and click "Update". The TC will reboot then follow the same procedure and reselect "Enable File Sharing" and click "Update". After TC reboots again you'll be up and running. Not the neatest way to do it but saves having to unplug the TC which risks disk damage and the whole procedure takes less than a minute.The "Enable File Sharing" button seems to have replaced the "Disconnect All Users" button but with the slight disadvantage that it reboots the TC which takes up additional time.
