How do I vertically align my text to center within a div?

any solutions?

nevermind I found a way to do it. It's probably not the most efficient way but since I only have a single line of text within the div I managed to vertically center the text using line height. I am new to web design and have been studying and watching tutorials for the last month on dreamweaver. I am getting better but I must say dreamweaver is quite glitchy when it come to accurately displaying the actual design of the webpage in split view. Only when I view my work in line view can I actually see what is really going on.

Without free hand creating the sizing?

Assuming by "interactive text boxes" you mean form fields; in Acrobat, make a form field, then copy it and paste. (GIve the pasted copy a different name so they don't genetate the same field feedback.) Now you have two fields of the exact same size. Shift-click or marquee-drag to select both, then right-click and choose a command from the Align, Distribute or Center menu.

  • How do I vertically align paragraphs in a page?

I am new to Pages, and I've run across a problem that is really aggravating because it should not be rocket science... but it seems to be, at least for me.
I need to center the text on the page so there is equal white space above and below it.
In Word, you select File --> Page Setup --> Layout --> Vertical Alignment and choose "Center." Done.
How do you do this Pages? I've scoured the manual and online help and can find nothing on this.
    Thanks in advance!

Note that the Vertical Alignment does not apply to the Text Layer of a Word Processing document, just to the text in objects that accept text within the shape. For your application you would probably want to add a text box, centered on your page, to hold the text that you want to center.

  • How can I vertically align items that are in different regions

    Hello,
I am a novice developer in APEX. I am creating a page which has 4 regions on it. Right now it looks like the following:
    ----region 1----------------------
    label: field label4: field
    -----region 2--- region 3--
    label: field label45: field
    -----region 4---------------------
label:field [one-item-worth-of-space. next item aligned to right of item below]long_label: field
    label: field label: field
I am trying to vertically align the items in these regions, in such a way that all the colons are vertically aligned.
I am having a particular alignment problem in region 4, column 2 (item are bold). Both label:field, and long_label:field in region 4 have the same vertical/horizontal alignment option as the rest of the region (right for label, left for field). For some reason, there is one item space between these two items. This space is removed if I switch the two fields.
I would really appreciate any help trying to understand
    - how to remove the one-item-equivalent space between two items in region 4
    - how to vertically align all these fields in different regions on one page.
I tried to create the original scenario in bold, but the post would not allow space formatting. I apologise if it is difficult to understand
Thank you in advance for your time.

  • Vertical alignment of text in a cell doesn't work

In Numbers 3.2, the vertical text alignment seems to have no effect on the text. Whether I select the text itself, the cell, or the row, pressing one of the vertical alignment buttons for top, middle, or bottom does nothing.
I've searched through all the menus but I don't see anything to affect this. Alignment in the menu is of the left, right, justify variety, not top, middle, bottom.
My goal is to reduce the padding in a row so that I can squeeze the text right up to the cell borders, but Numbers doesn't seem to allow me to do this. Yet I have someone else's number sheet, and it's obviously possible since they have it in their sheet.
    Thanks for any help,

The culprit is the automatic text inset of 4 pts. Drastically un-intuitive.
    Aliza,
Only un-intuitive if you believe that most people would like their cell content lying right against the cell border.

  • Vertical alignment in text form

Been trying set vertical alignment so that text will align with the top of the form box, and having a frustrating result. It will only align if the box is one line only.
A multi-line box will not expand vertically to accomodate long text; an expanded (vertically) box will result in text beginning below top alignment. Anyone working on a fix for this? It seems to be a new problem, as I have used this feature with in the past with old versions of Acrobat.

If I understand your issue correctly, you can achieve this by playing witht the Left and Right values under Layout tab of the object properties.
Let me know if this is not what youare looking for..

  • How do I get lines of text to wrap within borders of a layer?

I am using Windows XP, SP2, and Dreamweaver 8. I am
struggling with the transition from building layout tables to
building layers, and have spent a great deal of time reading books
and following tutorials. I keep running into a problem which would
seem to have a simple solution, but I can't find the answer in any
of my texts or web searches. I may not be using the correct
terminology to describe it . . . but here goes.
Let's say I build the layout first, and it consists of two
columns, a left sidebar, and a larger layer for content. When I add
text to the content layer, it does not wrap into several lines, ,
respecting the right border, as it would do in a table. Instead, it
continues in one long line, pushing the edge of the layer out to
    the right, destroying the layout.
What is the solution? Do I need to create a container for the
page, before I build the rest? Or, is there an attribute that I can
apply to the specific layer to prevent this problem? Or is it an
    attribute of the text??
Can anyone recommend a good entry-level tutorial for me,
which would address such "beginners" problems? I have found the
Dreamweaver tutorial "Creating a CSS-based Page Layout" to be very
unhelpful. They show you how to make the layers, but there is NO
information or guidelines on how to fill the layers with content so
they work properly and maintain their layout. I've also spent time
studying the Dreamweaver 8 "Missing Manual" from Pogue Press. That
book has been very helpful, but not with this issue.

There's no need to struggle with this. Just don't do it.
    Forget layers
exist. They are not the way to move ahead, and will get you
    into serious
trouble if you imagine that they are the next step in your
    advancement.
Continue to work with tables as you learn about CSS. When you
    understand
that you rarely need to use any kind of positioning, then you
    are ready for
the next step: moving from tables to table-less pages.

No kidding. In fact, the book is COMPLETELY wrong on this
    issue. Your best
bet is to take Elmer's Glue and glue all the pages of Chapter
    8 together. I

  • How to add note to underlined text for pdf within Preview

Sometimes I can right-click in underlined or highlighted text in Preview and get an option "add note" so that there's a text box without an balloon icon (like the one you get by pressing control+N). But it is so tricky that I have to try several times before the option appears. Is there any easy way to do it?

Welcome to Apple Community forums, Tom.
Go to View menu >Show annotations toolbar > click on the text box at the bottom and you should get a type cursor when you click on the area outside or within the document or photo. Then type. Does this not happen consistently?

  • Vertically align middle input text in a text box

I'm creating Flash-based software that has text boxes where users write in the answers to questions. I want the text that the user types to be vertically aligned to the middle of the text box, so that even if the response is two or three lines, it is still centered in the box.
It doesn't appear that I can accomplish this through the properties window in Flash. Am I missing something? Or is it possible to set the properties of the text box with actionscript, and would that allow me to vertically align the text?
    Thanks!

You're not the first to ask this, but if you got an answer of how to do it, you'd likely be the first.  I don't think it is possible since there doesn't appear to be any sort of top margin property available for TextFields.  You might be able to fake something like that though if you think about it... like using the changed event of a textfield to reposition it vertically in a pseudo border/bkgnd.
If you do come up with a solution, you should share it here... as I said, you're not the first to ask.

  • Basic questions about word spacing and vertical alignment with CSS

I'm sill very new to Dreamweaver and web page designing. I've
read the entire manual SC3, one book, and starting another but I
    have almost 0 practice.
Q1. so far I haven't been able to produce the effect of the
Word Spacing property. I tried all kinds of tests and I don't know
in what scenario this effect will show. Can someone give me a
simple example that shows the effect of this CSS property.
Q2. Vertical Alignment: this works well with images inserted
into text but I also expected this to work with text against other
text. For example I typed TEST© and assigned a different SCC
style to the © so that I can make it smaller and put it up
with the Vertical Alignment property. Surprisingly this propery
didn't produce any effect. How is htis suppose to be done?

    > This is some text. This is some text.
You forgot to wrap your text in <p> tags so the style
    rule you created
    doesn't apply.

    Hello,
For vertical alignment of text, you can use a trick with the line spacing.
Use the space before and space after and adjust in such a wat that the text will appear as center alignled vertically.
say for eg: you set the space before = 2 mm and space after as 2 mm, so the space before the text and after the text would be 2 mm and thus the text will appear as center alligned vertically.
But you have to also take care of line spacing while adjusting the space before and space after.
    Hope this help you.

  • Vertical align to center in a div

  • Alignment of text in textField

  • Setting Vertical alignment

I know how to set vertical alignment in a Microsoft Word document.
I have been unable to find out how to do the same thing in Pages '08.
I know it has to be there because if I open a document in Pages that was created with Microsoft Word that has vertical alignment set to center it is recognized by Pages.
    Any suggestions??
    Peter

I do not think it is available through the UI. The way to add vertical alignment to a page is to copy a page from a converted Word document and paste it to your Pages document.
It does not seem like Pages XML is currently fully documented, even though it has been claimed to be. I thought it would be here but that is not for the current version, and it is incomplete.
I would guess it is this kind of information:
    <pre>
    <sf:verticalAlignment>
    <sf:number sfa:number="1" sfa:type="i"/>
    </sf:verticalAlignment>
    </pre>
However, searching Apple's developer connection gives no confirmation.

  • Aligning the Text in Centre for MultiLine Cells in JTable

    Hi;
Does anyone know how I could make a java table that has multiline text cells AND this multiline text is aligned to center? I tried to extend JTextArea and to implement TableRenderer - multiline was OK but it did not do anything on setHorizontalAlign. If I extend DefaultTableRender than I can align the text to center but I got no multiline...
    Any ideas?
Kindly to provide me a solution for this its urgent.

    Hi;
Thanks for the reply,on using Text Area as renderer i.e using Multi-Line cells in JTable, i achieved the objective of displaying the text on multiple lines in the cell."In my Table there are 5 columns and i'm setting renderer on 3rd and 5th column,If the text is too large in column 5 it automatically gets wrapped off for all the cells in column 5.For column 3 my text is not so large as compared to column 5 and due to which the Text in the column 3 starts from the top for all the cells i.e (the first row in column 3 is parallel to first row in column 5 ),Now the problem is i can't display the text in the center of all cells for Column 3 .
