How do I view albums within a genre?

When I click into a genre I get an option for "albums" and a list of artists. If I click on albums, it gives me a list of all my albums in itunes not just those within the genre. How can I get a list of only the albums within a genre?

The option at the top says "all albums", that's why you see everything in iTunes. To see the albums you have to leave the menu on a genre like Pop and watch the album cover art work. If you select Pop, you get the artists and under the artists are the albums. It could use a few more options....

Found the group in store (in this case Juana Molina) It said music -> alternative
Changed to column view, and could not find the artist at all in any of the sub categories.
iTunes is really the biggest pain in the .... and has gotten worse over the years.

Shutdown function and view album art by Genre..

Is it only me that would find a Shutdown at end of album function useful? When your lying in bed listening to music, i don't want to have to get up and switch my machine off, i want an option in iTunes that will shutdown my machine at the end of the playlist or Album.. any one else think thats useful?
What about viewing Album art via Genre? When you select a Genre, then click on the scroll album art button it shows the whole of your library!?!?! how stupid! i only want the albums in that Genre!

Please add your computer info to your profile using the My Settings link on the right side of the page.
I don't know about Windows, but on a Mac, there is a scheduled sleep/shutdown option in the Energy Saver Preference pane.. There are also quite a few free and cheap options available for download that can do it. If you're on Windows, you might look around to see what options you have.

Not sure where you're selecting the Genre, but if you're talking about the Browse option (the eye icon), when you switch to CoverFlow view, you are no longer Browsing, you are in CoverFlow.
If you switch between the different views (List, AlbumArt, CoverFlow) you'll notice that the Browse function is disabled for CoverFlow.
Of course, you could always create Smart Playlists to group your songs by Genre which would eliminate the need to rely on the Browse function.

Not a great solution, but you can completely remove the album art if you reduce the width of your itunes window.... as you reduce the window you get to a point where the artwork disappears.

Before the update, I was able to view album artwork next to song titles in the list view. With the update, I don't know how to do this now. If anybody has found out how to do it, please answer. this is how my itunes looks now

I am having this same issue on my version of iTunes (Version 12.0.1.26) for the PC.
When I go to the album artwork for a particular song, I can no longer select the covers for the song listed - unlike in previous versions of iTunes. There is no blue-highlight that occurs, as you cannot select anything. When I add new artwork, the old artwork goes into the "gallery" portion under the artwork screen... and I still cannot delete it.
This has nothing to do with automatically downloaded artwork.

I remember responding to an apple customer satisfaction survey in 2009, when I purchased my iPod Classic. I suggested it should be possible to have album art viewed in full screen like in photo slideshows or how album art is presented on half the screen when the menu is navigated to the 'music' list. Does anyone know if apple has created an iPod Classic software update which includes this glaring omission?

The progress bar is not the iPod disconnecting from the PC but rather the iPod reading in the library database from it's hard drive. It's safe to disconnect when told to.

How can I shuffle songs within one genre on i0s7?

I have got i0s7 on my iphone 5 and find that when I go into a particular genre of music I can no longer "shuffle" songs from different artists within the same genre. Can anyone help?

I'm sure you used to be able to click "Genre" view. I can more easily recognize my apps by icon than by name.
When I click view options and try to sort by genre, nothing happens. The only way I can sort my app icons is by filtering them.

They can be sorted by device type, all, or list.
The only thing that can be done in is list view to select "Genre" and it will sort by the appropriate type.
Frankly, if the apps are more easily recognized by the icon, go to the All view or device type view.

How do i view albums from my iphone to my pc

when i insert my USB cable into my computer and press on my iPhone, to view the pictures on my iphone, the only ones that appear are the ones that are in the recently added album. However i want to view all my pictures for example the ones in the ones i have transferred from my computer and ones that i have created myself but i cant seem to view them.
What do i do? (im guessing i have to do something to my phone rather than the computer but im not 100% certain)
Also the albums i have transferred from my laptop to iphone are impossible to delete off my iphone; when i connect my phone to the laptop (as you know) not all the photos are viewed therefore there is no way at all i can delete them :/ HELP

hello cathyvers, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware/malware on your pc. please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and do a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tool like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

When within genres, i can only seem to view a list of all tracks. How do i view albums within genres?

AFAIK and from the limited research that I have done, you can't do that on the iPad. Apparently the feature is available on the iPhone (?) but not on the iPad.

How to view albums in grid in one genre?

Is it possible to find a way to view all of your albums in one genre in "grid" view, so that you can see a bunch of albums all within that genre at once? I like the beginning of "grid" view, but once you click on a genre, it changes to a type of list view. The 'rollover' effect when you mouse over one genre is good, but it does not seem to be in a specific order, and then it shows only a few albums (for example about 4 or 5 different out of 148 that exist in that one genre).
Is there a way to see all those albums in that one genre - their cover/artwork - in "grid"? Essentially, I think I'm looking for a view like "icon" view in the Finder, where I'm seeing all the different icons of my albums within one 'folder' of one genre. Can it be done, and if so, how?

Type in the name of the Genre in the search box. All albums containing that text, anywhere, will be displayed. While this may still display the odd track from different genres which use the same words in most cases it should narrow things down significantly.

How to have an album view in a playlist?

I have some playlists in iTunes. When i access them on my ATV2, the titles are shown in one large list. I would rather prefer to have an Album view on my ATV2 when i scroll within a playlist. Is this possible and if yes, how?

This seems to be restricted to iOS devices. I, too, want to be able to play Playlist content by album (which is the way the Playlist was built). This can be done within iTunes, itself. ATV2 and the Remote App do not allow this. So, seems to be a matter of programming.
Would be very useful. For example, I have a Smart Playlist for anything not played within the last 2 years. At my computer, from iTunes, I can play albums within this Playlist. In my easy-chair, via ATV2, no can do--track only. And most of my collection is classical music where album trumps track.

So, I am on my iTunes. On the previous Version of iTunes, you can have the list of Albums and view at the same time the Artwork whether it was for 10, 20 songs or even just 1 song. Create a playlist, add/delete albums and sync this playlist.
You don't need to manually manage the iPhone music to do this.
