How do I view attachments in gmail

Attachments used to come up in their own window. Suddenly they started being treated like a downloaded file and there was an arrow on the toolbar. I did not like this method of viewing attachments so I deleted the arrow. Now the attachments go directly to my download file and I have to go there to read the file.
How do I get back to my original way of viewing attachments?

# Click the menu button ([[Image:New Fx Menu]]) and choose Customize.
# Click "Restore Default"
#Click the menu button again to exit
#Now you should see the arrow again
To open the attachments, click on the arrow then the name of the file.
Or click on the arrow, then "Show All Downloads"
I don't think there is a setting to open downloads in a new window as it was before.

Okay I am stumped! For the life of me, I can't figure out how to save attachments that come through my gmail app. Specifically 3gp videos and documents files. You can't. If you want to 'view' an attachment, you'll have to open it, regardless whether that's 'quick' or not.

I'm trying to use iCal for my work appointments. My appointments comes with files attached (schedules, notes, all in rtf format) and when I open one, highlight the file attached (that at this point has lost his original name and became something like 3dfg565gf....) in the info window and hit the spacebar, all I get is an empty page...
Where am I going wrong, can you please help?

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with opening attachments in Mail on your iPad.
I recommend following these steps for an issue like this (you can skip 4 because it does not relate to the issue you are experiencing and any other steps you may have taken):
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

Hi barkeram,
Something you could do in the Playback mode is change the "Playback block configuration" in the "Playback Configurations" View to see and manipulate the entire data. For example, my default block size was 100 samples and my entire data contains 2800 samples (as shown by the number of iterations = 28).
I can change that to be Block Size = 2800 samples (which is my entire data) in which case I will have only one iteration. My data view will now show all my data rather than just a block.
You don't have to know before hand how much data the log file contains. Just multiply the default block size and number of iterations (when you select playback) to get the new block size and enter it in the Block Size field.

How do I open attachments in emails I receive to view them before I send them on to friends?

Often, pictures or simple documents (eg, one-page PDFs) will appear directly within the message itself. You can also use the Quick Look button next to the attachments line (in the message header) to view and scroll through the files (provided they're viewable, and aren't compressed or binary files).
You can also click Save next to Quick Look to save the files to your Downloads folder.

You should be able to view them natively within iOS. If you can view them in safari and want to save them, then download iBooks or search for other apps that can view and save them.

How do I add attachments to a Captivate 7 eLearn?

Articulate has an Attachments button in the player window. In Captivate 7 - I want the user to click a button and the attachments window appears for them to download a document/PDF.
I can not find anything in Captivate to add that into the eLearn. I know that I can create a click box to hyperlink to another site but I actually want the document embedded into the eLearn similar to how Articulate has the ATTACHMENTS button and you can decide which file to download.
Any guidance will help alot! I don't want to switch this eLearn to Articulate.

While it's not a built-in feature, you could probably get the same result with a little bit of creativity.
I haven't tried it, but you could probably make a text caption or smart shape with the text links formatted as you want, putting it on the first slide set to show for all slides, not visible upon viewing the project. Then you could make a smart shape button, also set to show for all slides, that show/hides the text caption/smart shape with an advanced action.
(Obviously you'd still have to do as Rick says, and make sure the linked document(s) are in the right place when you publish your project. )

I was actually referring to the ability to view the attachment in the body of the message rather than the QuickLook function - so for example, a photo would actually display in the body of the message without using the cmd y. This is the default state, but during my endless tinkering I did something to prevent attachments from automatically displaying. Which I now just remembered - it is an option in Cocktail! Thanks for the assistance!
