You may have orientation lock turned on. If you open Control Center by sliding up with one finger starting below the bottom of the home screen, you should see an icon that looks like a lock with a partial circular arrow around it. The turns orientation lock on/off. When on you should see a small version of the same icon in the menu bar.

The company I work for sends over emails with their photo attached - and the image comes over with a ? - how can I view it? I checked the settings on mail and it shows that I have checked the box to allow images....anyone? Thank you!

If it is an attachment you can click on Quick Look to open the picture or document. I use this when items do not open in the email window.

How to detect imbedded image inside GroupWise email?

I am using GroupWise 8.0. I created a new mail and used File->Attachments->Attach Files...to attach files, and selected one MS WORD and one Excel file to attach to this emai. Then I launched Paint to open a jpg file name image.jpg, selected the image to copy to clipboard, and went back to the mail to use Edit->Paste to paste (embed) the image into this email, then send the email.
Using Object API when I try to fetch the message, the attachment collection shows 3 attachments, one is MS WORD document with Objtype is egwFile, second is Excel file with Objtype again is egwFile, so far so good, then the third one shows name as image.bmp, BUT the Objtype also is egwFile (instead of egwOLEEmbedded)?? I used these statements to get the objtype of each attachment.

How do I opt out of receiving email to a question I asked almost a year ago?

I asked a question almost a year ago and am still receiving email answers to any question that is similar to this. I receive anywhere from 100 to 200+ answers per day. I have sent this to my spam folder but to no avail. Anyway to opt out of this?

If you are receiving 100 to 200 messages a day they are not coming from a single thread, especially one that is that old.

Remember the emails you are getting will not be stopped by turning off the email notification preferences, those only affect future email. To stop current email you have to turn off the notifications themselves.

How do I send images in an email, but not embedded in the message body?

I want to submit some jpg images of artwork to a competition and the rules state that attached images must *not* be embedded in the email body. They want the list where you can see the file name and you click on it to open it, as I've seen in Windows MS Outlook. I've searched the net and I see that this is a problem for other people, but I've not seen a solution.
I'm using the current version of iMail, and I've tried setting the message to Plain Text, the "Windows Friendly" setting, as well as the "Always attach at end of message" setting. All leave the image embedded. I'm using the current version of iMail. Anyone know how to do this? I have a deadline approacing so time is of the essence. Thanks!!

I agree that it's a shame to have to buy something that I feel Mail should already do. That said, it seems that people's experience with sending attachments using Mail seems varies - I believe it's often to do with how the recipients email client is configured.
All I know is that since installing Attachment Tamer (used to be called Mail Attachments Iconizer) a few years ago it's something I no longer have to bother about.
I think you can run AT in demo mode to test flight it, before committing to buy.

In Mail, how do I view both notes and emails at same time?

Is it possible to view the notes pane and the email pane at the same time? I keep notes about each project I'm working on so it helps to have them up as I'm replying to emails and setting todo's. If this is not possible, can I move notes out of Mail?

It may be a problem with your Safari cache file (you can reset it by going to the Safari Menu and select "empty cache". You could also post the site address so we can have a look at it. The "cache" file retains a memory of pages you have accessed to facilitate their reloading on subsequent visits. If you are using DSL or Broadband for internet access, then the Cache is not necessary. Post back if you want guidance for de-activating it.
Otherwise, it could be a problem with the 10.4.6 update (which I doubt). If the empty cache does not resolve your problem, rerun the update, however, use the 10.4.6 combined update version. After the install/restart, repair permissions using Disk Utility in your Utility folder.
