How do i view pdf documents on my new mac?

i just got a new macbook pro and i can not read pdf's with it. i have found that several times i will try to open a file and it says that power pc applications are no longer supported. there has to be a way around this right?

Those are not PDF files you are trying to open. They must be program files, even if they have the extension .pdf.
If you have real Portable Document Files (.PDFs) then all you have to do is double click on them and it will open in Preview App.

  • How do you view PDFs in Safari 5.1, Mac OS 10.7?  I have no adobe plug-in in library.

I have read and read of other people with this problem.  Some have got satisfaction, but I can't get their solutions to work.  Safari either doesn't open a PDF at all, or at least I can't see it...the screen is black.  Or sometimes I can see that Quicktime is opening the pdf in safari, but I can't see more than one page of a multi-page document.  There are no buttons at the middle of the bottom, I do not have an adobe reader plug-in in the Internet Plug-in folder.
So, either I see nothing of a PDF, or only the first page.  All the software is up to date.

    Quit Safari.
Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:
☞ If running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.
☞ If running an older version of Mac OS X, select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar and enter “~/Library” (without the quotes) in the text box that opens.
Delete the following items from the Library folder:
    Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
    Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
    Preferences/QuickTime Preferences
    Relaunch Safari and test.

  • How to view PDF documents with my problem

I have Imac OS and since downloading and installing Adobe Reader this week, I am unable to open PDF documents.  I get a box which states "before
viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the
browser".  How do a accept the End User License Agreement?

Open Reader by itself (look for its icon in the Applications folder, and double click on it), this should show you the EULA.

  • How to view PDF documents because say you must launch adobe reader and accept the end user license

I have a question about to display the PDF documents, could you tell me how can I display it?, I have this message that say before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser

I've got the same issue and I want to use Preview to read pdfs on Safari. At some point I had Acrobat Reader installed, but deleted it and everything associated with it. However no matter what, I get: "Before launching pdf documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the end user license agreement, then quit and relaunch the browser."
This means I am forced to use Reader, when I don't want to. There seems no way to default to Preview to read pdfs on Safari, even after deleting Adobe Reader completely.
Anyone have a clue how to fix this?

How do I "Launch" Adobe Reader in order to accept the Terms and Conditions in order to view PDF documents? ....Somers  I'm using a MAC with up to date software.

Launching is just the normal word in Apple's word for "run an app". You can launch an app from the Applications folder, or in recent versions of Mac OS using the LaunchPad (rocket icon). You can't assume all your apps appear on the dock (bottom strip), it's only the ones Apple put there or you added.

  • SharePoint 2013 cannot view PDF documents in mobile browser with office web apps

    Hi,
I'm receiving the following error when viewing SharePoint 2013 PDF documents in a mobile browser after clicking on the filename:
"Viewing of .pdf files has been disabled in Microsoft Word Mobile Viewer. Please get in touch with your helpdesk."
    My Question
Is viewing PDF documents in mobile browsers with Office Web Apps SP1 actually supported?  If so, how can I enable it?  I've already have pdf viewing working in non-mobile browsers. Word documents open just fine on mobile browsers too.
I'm getting conflicting answers for pdf mobile viewing support from various sources:
You've got Microsoft toting that they've added in PDF viewing on any device for Office Web Apps
    http://blogs.office.com/2013/07/03/pdfs-in-the-word-web-app/
A MS support person saying saying it is not supported
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_web_apps_server_2013_support_blog/archive/2013/12/31/enabling-pdf-previews-in-document-libraries-with-office-web-apps-2013-in-sharepoint-2013-open-link-does-not-work-from-preview.aspx
Another person implying that it should work because you can disable pdf browsing for mobile browsers only
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2013/07/24/control-whether-pdfs-open-in-word-web-app-or-the-default-pdf-reader.aspx
    What I've tried
When I started looking into this there was a mobile WOPI entry:
    Application     : WordPdf
    Extension       : PDF
    ProgId          :
    Action          : mobileView
    IsDefaultAction : False
    ServerName      : 20SP8
    WopiZone        : internal-http
I tried experimenting with tweaking this binding by changing the DefaultAction to true, and even removing it altogether via:
    Get-SPWopiBinding -Action "MobileView" -Application "WordPDF" | Remove-SPWopiBinding -Confirm:$false
But I still get the same message.
I removed all the WordPdf bindings and re-added them via:
New-SPWOPIBinding –ServerName "<myserver>" –Application "WordPDF" -AllowHTTP
No dice.  In fact the mobileview binding doesn't even come back... but I guess that is a different issue altogether.
    Version
    SharePoint 2013 (SP1)
    Office Web Apps Server (SP1)
    Farm Setup
    Internal facing only
2 front end servers, 1 app server, 1 office web apps server

I think the PDF support, if it exists, in only in Office 365. Always remember that the Office 365 and on premises versions will never be in sync. On premise is updated using periodic service packs and Office 365 has continuous updates. (I've heard every
    10 days.)
In my Office 365 / IE 10 tests, the PDFs open in the browser's default PDF viewer, in my case FoxIt Reader. So I can't prove one way or the other about support in Office Web Apps.

how to read a pdf document which is saved on icloud

    Greetings jjakri,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you have a PDF saved on iCloud Drive and would like to view that on your iPad. To view a PDF on your iPad, you would either need to sync from your computer view it from an email attachment. For more information on these processes, please refer to the attached article.

  • How to include several PDF documents into just one file?

I have a Word document with 6 pages that I saved in PDF.
I wanted to transform the entire document in JPEG (JPG) immage, so that I could use it in other tools, such as Facebook for example.
The problem is that using Adobe Photoshop it opens and saves page by page.
Can you give me s solution or hint?

    Thank you!
I already saved all pages as .pdf w/ Acrobat and have all 6 pages saved in
    .jpg, using Photoshop.
Problem is that I want to post the whole text in my Facebook page, and to
have it in six pieces is not quite readable...
Thanks anyway and have a joyful Xmas!

  • How can I view Preview documents on iOS 8 via iCloud Drive.

I have a number of PDF documents in iCloud drive in the Preview folder. How to I view these documents on my iPhone 5s? I have the latest software and iCloud Drive is enabled. Pages only looks under the Pages folder apparently. Is there some hidden way to view my Preview PDFs in iOS 8?
*edit* For some reason the Apple Support site thinks my iPhone is running 7.0.3, but it is in fact using 8.0.2.
    Thank you.

Would be a good idea to have an iCloud Drive app, JUST LIKE DROPBOX for fxsake. I want to organize things my way -- not be forced to use app-specific folders and a single layer of nesting. And if you're going to force that on me, then give me a Preview folder and TextEdit folder on iOS.

What is your MacOS X version?
If you have iCloud enabled, and set it to share "Documents & Data" in your System Preferences > iCloud Tab, you should be able to see your pdfs stored in iCloud in the Preview application on your Mac.
In Preview select the "iCloud" tab in the "File > Open" sceen:
