How do I view reminders or To Do's in iCal in Mountain Lion

Just upgraded to Mountain Lion today. Have hundreds of tasks, ToDo's, reminders - whatever you want to call them. Previously they appeared on right side of iCal as a list. I see no "Show Reminders" in View menu, nothing in Preferences. Searched for a reminder and nothing came up. Has everything gone to "Reminders" app?

I was disappointed to find that Calendar and Reminders are two separate apps in Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8.3). But I am more disappointed that I didn't think to check for discussions about this issue before upgrading. I didn't think to check on iCal in Mountain Lion because iCal was working so well. If it ain't broke why change it?
I have a little network of three 2011 model iMacs that had been running Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.8) with Snow Leopard Server on a Mac mini. We don't share files as much as diary entries and our to-do lists. We are very happy with how OS X 10.6 handles this.
There are a couple of pieces of software that I would like to use that only run on Lion or Mountain Lion so I thought I'd upgrade one of the iMacs to Mountain Lion. After the upgrade Calendar appears to have picked up the iCal data on the iMac and our shared iCal data on the server but not the to-do list items. It appears from the discussions that no provision has been made to import the data into Reminders. Strangely, some completed to-do items appeared in Reminders.
After my first shutdown and next startup of the iMac I also encountered the frozen dialogue box "Upgrading calendars …" which some of the discussions mentioned. Calendar quit OK and I re-opened it without the dialogue box appearing again. Calendar is a big window too that doesn't seem to be able to be reduced down much.
Some years ago I used an application called Now Up-to-Date on various Macs running OS 8. It combined a calendar and to-do list that could be shared on a network but the network features didn't work with OS X in Classic mode. It wasn't until later versions of OS X that iCal incorporated the combined features.
This is a bit of a long story but for the first time using Macs I think I will uninstall an upgrade. My little network was working fine. I'm also not keen to upgrade the server to Mountain Lion and risk messing up features that have been working well.

In my iCal, "new reminder" does not appear in the menu under "File". How can I get reminders to show up on my iCal?

If you're running Mountain Lion (10.8.3), reminders is now a separate app.  Launch reminders from your applications group and you will be able to access File>New Reminder.

  • How to update the BOX version of the Logic Pro 9 in Mountain Lion??

    Hi!
How to update the BOX version of the Logic Pro 9 in Mountain Lion?
For example,  if tomorrow will be new updates for Logic Pro for exapmle 9.1.8. (now I have 9.1.7) Will I not able to get it?? Now should I buy the second Logic pro??
Recently I have got answer from App Store support:
"Max, since you have not purchased the app in the App Store, you can't get updates directly in App Store. In this case, you will need to purchase the updated version in the App Store so you can get further updates."
It's... I bought Logic Pro 9 + MainStage +  + +++ .... in the Apple Retail Store and what now?? Updates works perfect in Snow Leopard.
    I can't understand...
Can you help me please? =)

    Max,
Rest assurred, you will get updates via the App store. What will happen is when you install the box version, the Mac App Store will ping when there is an update to download(for free), much like any other Apple app(Garageband, iWork, etc) regardless of where you bought it from. If it's installed, it will check for updates.
If the Mac App store doesn't show an update that you know is out, simply down it directly from support.apple.com and apply it.
Hope this helps. If so, LIKE the post.

  • Can anyone tell me how to restore my itunes library and playlists? After I downloaded mountain lion my library is missing and my devices can be synced to only one library ...the missing one

can anyone tell me how to restore my itunes library and playlists? After I downloaded mountain lion my library is missing and my devices can be synced to only one library ...the missing one

That .itl file actually is the library -- at least the critical part of it although the library is actually many files and folders.
Try starting iTunes and immediately hold down the option key.  When it asks, guide it to the .itl file.
It's really hard to say without being able to poke around your computer.  Upgrading should not delete the old library, but still it happens to the very, very few which is why we make backups before updating.  If the old library file is gone then so are your playlists.  You can always see if the following is of any use:

I think that in general, the Alerts do not show if the program is in the foreground and is active.  Try putting Twitter behind another program and see what happens.

  • HT1338 How do I update my 2009 Macbook OSX 10.5.8 to Mountain Lion?

I'm not even sure this is possible... My computer has stopped recieving updates so it looks like it's about time for an upgrade but I haven't a clue where to begin given how old my current software is. I read the requirements for Mountain Lion and my computer is compatable but I'm still quite confused. Please help!

Buy or Obtain an OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard disk. These cost $29.99 a peice, and is required to use the Mac App Store.
Run software update. You only need to install the OS X Update. You don't have to update other things like itunes until you have Mountain Lion.
When you have the Mac App Store available, launch it. Locate Mountain Lion. Should be on the front page. Buy it with your iTunes account, similar to buying a song or an iOS App. It will download an Installer application. If the application does not launch automatically, launch it. This application will lead you through all the steps required.
Before you update, make a backup, if you have not already made one. Do not use Time Machine if you are on 10.5.8. Use something like Carbon Copy Clonor. (Google it). You should probably back up your entire disk.

  • HT201364 how do I uninstall OS X Mavericks and revert back to OS mountain lion?

how do I uninstall OS X Mavericks and revert back to OS mountain lion?

You can't uninstall an OS X version. You would have to erase the drive and reinstall a prior OS version. That's why you should never upgrade without having a backup.
However, just about any router in the world should work with Mavericks, without the need of any DVD supplied software.

  • How will the new OSX Mavericks affect applications already installed and using Mountain Lion?

How will the new OSX Mavericks affect applications already installed and using Mountain Lion?

If you're asking about compatibility, that would be something you would need to ask of the app developers, though most apps compatible with Mountain Lion should be compatible with Mavericks. You can also consult the tables here:
    http://roaringapps.com/apps
though that information comes from user reports and so should not be considered authoritative.
If you're asking whether installing Mavericks will delete your apps, no, it won't, though a good backup is always highly recommended.

    Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • HT1619 How do I disconnect an Apple remote from my MacBook Pro w/ Mountain Lion update?

My friend set up Apple TV while I was using my laptop in the same room and the remote is now connected to my laptop. I've looked at a bunch of different sites and forums trying to figure out how to disconnect it and it seems that with the new Mountain Lion operating system, there is no way to do this. PLEASE HELP it's driving me crazy because everytime he presses a buttom on the remote, it interferes with what I'm doing.

Sorry, but my late 2009 MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion continues to be be controlled by the ATV2 remote after disabling remotes in system preferences. Anyone else having the issue or has a solution?
    Cheers!

  • How do I install/upgrade iWork 2005 on my new MacBook Pro / Mountain Lion?

I just bought a new MacBook Pro (converted back from Windows) and installed an old version of iWork (2005) I purchased years ago, hoping to upgrade it. It didn't install properly as it only shows a folder in Finder/Apps, with a couple of docs in the folder and doesn't show up as an app for Upgrade. The guy that upgraded my MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion at the Apple Store told me this should work.
       1) How do I install iWork 2005 on my MacBook Pro / Mountain Lion?
       2) How do I upgrade it without having to purchase a new copy?
    Thanks!

You cannot link any version of iWork installed from a retail disk or trial to the Mac App Store.
You install iWork '05 on your new Mac just as you always have, making sure you have the serial number to enter. But the iWork apps are very reasonably priced on the Mac App Store & have come a very long way in 7 years. And now Numbers is available for spreadsheets.

  • How do you reset an admin password on a MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion?

I forgot the admin password on my mac and I tried resetting it using the command+r technique at startup however a lock symbol appeared which requires a password to access.
Does anyone know how to reset the password without using a startup disc?

    Forgot Your Account Password
    For Snow Leopard and earlier
Mac OS X 10.6- If you forget your administrator password
    For Lion/Mountain Lion
        Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow
instructions in the dialog window that will appear.
Or see Reset a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Password and
