Unfortunately, photos that are deleted from the phone are also deleted from your 'my photo stream' album and from the iCloud photo library, unless you saved them to a shared stream, you will no longer be able to recover them, shared streams can be viewed from the shared section of the photo app on your phone.

The pics are gone. This is what a restore is. You erased your iphone, reinstalled your software, then added back your settings from the date of the last backup.
You should have imported your photos to your computer as you would with any digital pictures, before any restore or update.

If it's not on icloud.com any longer you can't restore it from iCloud. (Contacts are only synced to your iCloud account, and are not included in the iCloud backup.)

to know what your OS is, click on "apple" up there, then click "About this Mac ".

I have downloaded every update and my battery life is better than any previous iPhone I have ever owned. I see posts from hundreds of people every day, and this is not a commonly reported problem. Lol no , don't own anything to sync with . Use my iPhone as a phone mostly , don't know why cos its not even good at that!! Have maybe downloaded 6 or 7 apps since I got it , I delete all mail from unknown in case of virus so don't think that's the problem. Opened iCloud account an hour ago because someone said they could be in there !! Haha think that's maybe not how it works .i have a yahoo email but never put any phone numbers there. I still have phone numbers from twenty years ago after having many phones ,have only lost the ones from the So called " Smart phone" !! Not too feckin smart if you ask me !! I have a new IPOD Touch and have ( think i have ) set it up for icloud.
So im on the understanding that when i take a photo it will auto upload to the cloud ?
So how do i know if my pics have been uploaded ?...And how can i check if they are there ?

Photo stream photos don't use any of your personal storage so you don't need an iCloud storage upgrade for them. Also, photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days, allowing sufficient time for your other devices to download them. Photo stream will not permanently store your photos unless they are added to a shared stream. However, photos added to a shared stream will be a lower resolution than the originals so it isn't a good choice for archiving photos. To keep your photos permanently in their original resolution, import them to your computer using your usb cable as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
To confirm that photos are in photo stream, check your my photo stream album on your phone. If you see them there, they are in photo stream.
You can't delete the photos from your phone and keep them in photo stream. When you delete them from your phone, they are also deleted from photo stream, both in iCloud and on all your devices/computers. If your goal is to be able to view your photos without storing them on your phone, you'll have to use a photo hosting service that provides an iOS app, such as Smugmug or similar.

I backed up my notes on my iphone 4s to my mac before wiping it to give to someone else. I found on here to go to Library-App Support- Mobile Sync-Backup and I can see the files of the backup, but it all opens in TextEdit as gibberish when I try and pick out a certain file. I am looking for 2 specific Notes that did not back up via icloud, but should be somewhere on my physical computer.

Not sure what switching your phone to silent has to do with an issue with Notes? Need to know specifically what your Notes issue is. Do you have Notes set up on iCloud on your Phone and your laptop? What backup are you referring to? Where are the original Notes that you are expecting to see on your laptop?

From your last post, it sounds as if you're hoping to stream music to your iPhone (and your computer) from iCloud, so when you delete songs from iCloud, they will also be deleted from your iPhone.
iTunes Match sort of does that, but not quite, as the songs you have played on an iOS device get stored there.
