  • HT1498 Unable to watch a rented movie from Apple TV!

So frustrating, rent a movie from iTunes on Apple TV and yet it will not download. This has happened multiple times.
I have watched movies before on iTunes, but in the last few weeks they do not download. Have latest software updates, going thru Brighthouse network.
Stated I have rented movie have to click on setting and click download, but I did that but download continues to spin and nothing comes up. I unplugged Apple TV but that did not help.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

  • How do I watch a rented movie on Apple TV

I rented a movie. Began to watch and had to stop. 15 minutes later, I went back to watch but cannot find rented movie.

A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
Also check your payment details, make sure your details are exactly how they appear on your credit card statement, you might also try changing some of those details, saving them and changing them back again.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.

  • HT1657 Can I watch my rented movie from Apple TV on my macbook?

I rented a movie on my Apple TV and would like to finish watching it on my MacBook.  Is this possible?

Read the FAQ that you linked:
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer."

  • HT204291 how do I watch a rented movie from my iPad 3 on the apple tv

    plz answer

You can't.  When you rent a movie, it can be played only on the device where you obtained it.  If you want the flexibility to change your mind, the original download must go to your computer's iTunes.

  • How do i watch a rented movie

how do i watch a rented movie on itunes? where do i go?

If you rented it on your iPad then you can only watch it on that iPad - from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1657 :
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
As to why it's like that, I don't know, I haven't seen anything that says why

  • How do i transfer a rented movie from my user account to my wife's user account?

How do I transfer a rented movie from my user account to my wife's user account?  I sync my iPad with my user account and she sync's her iPad with her user account, but she wants the movie I downloaded onto her iPad.  (We use the same apple ID).

Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202 - You can manage your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers as long as you have set the device to "Manually manage music."  -  e.g. adding music from a second computer to an i-device.
Hold on.  I don't know if the above will work with a rented movie.  There's all kinds of restrictions on what you can do with rented movies.

  • Can I watch a rented movie from iTunes on my iPhone while on a plane?

Can I watch a rented movie from iTunes on my iPhone while on a plane?

I read that I may need to start the movie prior to departure so that it can connect via wifi (or whatever internet connection I use) and start the 24-hr "timer" for rented movies.  So,.. no truth to that?  More specifically, I can start a rented movie on iTunes, while on a plane, without an internet connection?

How do I watch a rented movie on my ipad2?

Beware. I downloaded a rented movie then took the ipad to a destination where I knew I would not have internet access.  Attempting to play the movie  the first time was notified an internet connection was required.  Very frustrating.  Also confirmed on this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2439219?start=0&tstart=0.

  • HT1657 do you need internet to watch a rented movie from itunes

Do you need internet to watch a rented movie from itunes?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
From my own personal experience, I have found that when I turn off the Wi-Fi on my Wi-Fi only iPad, I am still able to play rented movies on it. I have tried this perhaps four or five times and in each case, this has been the result. I have also noted that other users have had the same experience as I.
However saying that I have noted a small number of users that have stated they are unable to view rented movies without an Internet connection. This knowledge base article from Apple, also suggests that an Internet connection is required.

  • We used to be able to watch rented movies from Apple TV right away.  Now it takes hours.  Is there a setting to change?

We used to be able to watch rented movies from Apple TV right away.  Now it takes hours.  Is there a setting to change?  They used to start playing after a few minutes of starting the download but not now.  What's up?

Pat, I've been experiencing this issue intermittently for weeks.  It seems to occur with HD content --including HD trailers --exclusively.  Tonight has been no exception.
I have done considerable troubleshooting to try and isolate the cause.  My results suggest that Apple's servers are to blame but I've not seen many others reporting this issue in these forums lately.
I live only 170 miles from Apple's North Carolina server farm.  I assume my iTunes rentals are being fed from there.  My broadband connection is a fast one (30Mb down) and consistently tests near that speed when this issue occurs.
I have both a first and second generation AppleTV.  When this issue occurs, I will change devices and rent the same movie to see if th device itself is to blame.  The issue affects both.  I have tried using an ethernet connection instead of my Airport Extreme's 5Ghz wireless connection but that does not remedy the issue.
So... my broadband connection is more than capable, my router is performing optimally (I recently had my local Apple Store test it as well), and neither of my AppleTV's is immune to the issue, so...  it must be on the delivery end.
Unfortunately, Apple does not post the status of their iTunes Store's servers like they did with their MobileMe servers.  They should.  In fact, the AppleTV should display a status message when Apple's iTunes servers are experiencing technical difficulties or heavy network traffic.
I was an early adopter of AppleTV.  It has not been problematic until now.  This is trying my patience.  My advice is that you request a refund everytime this happens.  I do.
I am taking this matter to the VP of iTunes services.  If Apple's servers are choking, or if their streams are being throttled by ISP's, or internet TV is too ambitious for this country's internet infrastructure, I deserve to know.
