Avinash, if you want to put any video on your iPod, you will need to ,encode it at a resolution of 320 by 240 (h.264) or 480 by 480 (MPEG4) pixels, so the iPod will not adjust the res. automatically because the maximum res. is limited to 480 by 480 (it still is bigger than the iPod's maximum of 320 x 240).
I've found that watching 480 by 270 pixels widescreen movies on my 17" LCD monitor is OK. Also, keep in mind that although a DVD has a res. of 720 by 480, 480 by 270 will certainly be of a lesser quality than a DVD, but could match the res. of a VHS (I don't know what's it's resolution but it is less than a DVD).

First of all what to you mean by Movies? If you mean commercial releases that are issued on DVD, then you have to use software to rip and convert these to an iPod supported video format. There are a number of Windows compatible programs to do this, Video Vault commercial software is one, the free program Videora is another. Streaming over wireless.. Hmmm if I say it works well and it doesn't I will get the blame.. if I say it doesn't work and he tries it and finds out it does.. he will think I'm a dupe or a dope..
There is no single right answer. On paper yes, wireless can do it.. in practice.. it depends on a huge number of variables. My experience.. and not with this equipment.. is that wireless can happily stream a show for an hour.. and then suddenly start to judder and flutter and pause and cause angst and misery. I don't trust it. Try it and see.. it might work good for you. It might work sometimes.. it might not work at all. Or it could just be snail like slow. Use the experimental method.. suck and see.
On more general note.. what files are you going to play from the TC.. I use WD Live as it plays everything.. Apple make the ATV to link to itunes.

Sounded like a good question to me but nobody seemed willing to respond. So... as I had never rented a movie, I decided to test the work flow on one of the $0.99 "specials" found on iTunes. For my test, I selected "Dark House." The 943.5 MB SD movie downloaded in about 8 minutes to the "Store/Downloads" area in the iTunes app on my older PPC computer—most likely a volatile cache area as I could not locate a physical file at the Finder level. In any case, it seems that if you select the file in the "iTunes/Downloads" tab, it appears you can play the file locally on the computer (later confirmed this). However, as I wanted to take advantage of the my ethernet connection to my main HDTV, I went to that TV2 device connected to it and checked it's local menu. Sure enough, I found the movie available in a newly added "Rentals" menu that now displayed between the "Music" and "Movies" sub-menus within my own iTunes Library menu.
Be advised that starting file takes a second or two of extra time each time the you quit/restart playback as it seems the movie must be "re-authorized" for the device each time. Further, the rental can only be played on one device at a time. That is, if you want to switch from the device to another, you must close the playback sub-menu for the current device before opening the file on an alternative device. In my case, I tested switching the movie back and forth between an TV2 device and the iTunes player.
Hope that answers your question as I plan to go and watch the move now. If nothing else, this was a learning experience for me. Quality was typical for the data rate and I had no problems viewing the content on my system. I also like the fact that chapter "descriptors" were used for this content rather than the default chapter numbers I normally use.

Well, pretty much all you need is an A/V cable. It's a cable that has what looks like a headphones jack at one end (except that it has 4 connectors instead of 3) and RCA cables at the other end (with the red, white, and yellow jacks). Plug the headphones jack end into the iPod and the RCA jacks into the TV (yellow is video, red is right audio, and white is left audio). Then if you want to watch a movie or photos on the TV, go into the settings for either one of those and where it says TV Out, either set that to Ask or On. I always have it on Ask because then what it does is asks each time before I view a photo/video if I want to output to the TV or not. But, you will only see something on the TV if you are watching a photo/video; you will never see the menus etc on the TV.
