Thanks so much for all the help!The only way to remotely wipe an iPhone running firmware version 2.0 or later is with an iPhone that is accessing an Exchange Account which can be done from the Exchange Server only.
I know the passcode lock is only 4 digits, but unless you are using 0000 or 1111, someone would have to be lucky in guessing your passcode, or have to spend a good amount of time going through every possible 4 number passcode combination. -

YOu can only do that if you had find my iphone setup and activated prior to having your phone stolen.
Then you log into icloud.com to remote wipe, but your phone has to be connect to wifi or cellular data to do that. -

Before you erase your phone, you need to first delete the iCloud account, sign out of FaceTime & iMessage. If you don't, this phone will still be linked to your Apple ID. Once you do that: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings.
But, delete iCloud & turn the other stuff off first...important you do this. -

i have deleted all contacts in icloud but still have them on my iphone (which is backed up as well to iTunes) how can i restore the iphone data to the iCloud so it will resend it to my mac book and iPad? thanks royThere's a menu choice (I think under "Files") that lets you sync purchased items on a device back to itunes. Look for that.
iCloud does not store music. If you want to do that you'd have to subscribe to itunes Match, but to get music to the match servers, you need the music in the itunes library on your computer. -

Put it in recovery mode to restore, you'll get the option to reset the passcode during this process.

If you have previously synced your device with iTunes
You may be able to reset the passcode by restoring the device.
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes prompts you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes", below.
Right-click the device in the left column and select Back up.
When the backup is complete, select Restore.
When finished, restore from your most recent backup.
If you are using Find My iPhone, you can use Remote Wipe to restore your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode.
