How do I zip file folders to send to PC users, they always have problems and can't open.

Are you trying to use one of the stuffit formats (like .sitx as you said) or do you actually want to make a .zip file which would be more logical if you are giving it to a windows user (unless they too have stuffit to stuffit expander of course)?
If you do a search for "zip" at macupdate.com you will find a whole bunch of zip tools, some of which advertise they make windows compatible zip files. For example BetterZip and WinZip Mac Edition can make windows-compatible zip files.
As I initially mentioned if you have stuffit and the windows receiver has stuffit (or stuffit expander) I don't know why there would be a problem creating a stuffit file on a mac and expanding it on windows (ignoring any possible problems introduced in the method of transmission).

With ZIP files, extract was your best bet. Do the players report that the file is corrupted, or zero length?? You may need to check with the seller on whether the ZIPs downloaded correctly or see whether you can get another format.
You also could try downloading again using Internet Explorer, if they allow that.

An other way is to copy the pdf with Windows explorer into the path /documents of the phone. Open Office and choose Adobe Reader. The pdf will be copyed in the Sandbox of the Reader and You may read it. You may delete the PDF in the documents path. It will still be in the Readers sandbox. All without any cloud ;-)!

That depends on what kind of files you're talking about.
If you mean photos, then you can just plug the phone in and it will appear like any other camera, mounting the camera roll like a flash drive or SD card.

Trouble sending only attachments that I want to send to Windows users

Hi, I am a newbie who needed to send jpeg images to tech-support (non-Apple hardware (not a computer)); these people use Windows. I attached the jpeg files as Windows Friendly attachments using Apple Mail (Intel 24 inch iMac 3 GHz Core 2 Duo 4 GB RAM 512 MB graphics card 1 Terabyte hard drive running Mac OS X 10.5.2 all software up-to-date). They told me (at least 2 people) that they couldn't see my photos (but I think one of them could). After talking with them on the phone one of them said that they were clicking on .dat files. I presume that the jpeg files were also sent as well. I think that invisible .DS and invisible .dat files are created using Mac OS X (invisible to Mac users who haven't elected to see invisible files). However, I believe that these files are visible to Windows Users (for example, taking a flash drive and copying a Mac folder and displaying it on Windows shows the .DS and the .dat files).
If I am correct, then perhaps I am unintentionally emailing .dat files (I don't know if I am also unintentionally emailing a .DS file as well).
If this is indeed the case, I of course would strongly prefer not to have to ask Windows users to ignore certain files that I have sent and to only click on everything else. What I obviously would like to do is to ONLY send the files that I wished to attach minus .dat and .DS files.
Parenthetically, while we are at it.... Can you tell me how to not have the .DS and .dat files when I am copying a folder with a thousand files inside it and am going to give it to a Windows user on a flash drive? They seem to have a .DS file and a thousand .dat files to get rid of so that they can now deal with the stuff that I actually wanted to give them.
I think a solution of making Windows users typically not seeing .DS and .dat files (like Mac users) probably won't cut it unless Microsoft were to do this themselves. I have a feeling that IT people might not want to make those changes at these companies.
If this helps, I took the digital camera, hooked it up to my computer, iPhoto '08 imported the photos. I copied the photos to a separate folder and closed iPhoto after deleting the images from iPhoto. I turned off the camera and disconnected it from the iMac. I then opened up Aperture 1.5.6 and selected the images I wanted to email and Aperture compressed the photos to medium size and opened up Apple Mail for me. I typed in my text, made sure that Windows Friendly Attachments was checked, and hit send.

Suppose you want to take 1000 music files that are AIFF but you need (want, actually) to use them at work and you only have Windows Media Player, so you have had them converted into WMA files. Now, using Mac OS X, just copy the 1000 WMA files and put them in a folder that you have already created on your USB flash drive. (I just use the Finder application, I don't use terminal, at least not yet). I forgot whether I am copying the files directly to the flash drive or if I am first putting them in a folder on my Mac desktop and then copying and pasting the file onto the USB flash drive. Anyhow, then take the flask drive and hook it up to a Windows XP computer, and you will see the .DS and the . files (they actually may not be .dat files but just . files).
But just copy 2 files (you don't have to do 1000, even one file at a time does the (unfortunate) trick.
If on the other hand this is Apple's .xml data so that iTunes can handle everything, then it is a feature that is not going to go away. I suppose that is the underlying question...

Problems accesing files in Mac Mini for Windows users.

We have a Mac Mini that we use as a data server in our network. Our main server is Windows and most of the users are Windows users.
At first, we had dificulties for connecting this Windows users to the server, but finally we did it and they have been working good accesing the files on the server, until last saturday when we run an update on the server.
All the privileges for files and folders were distorted and the users that acces the server with Windows 7 and 8, can't open some files and can't modify others (there is a warning that says that the file is in use by another user and can only be read).
We already re asigned the privileges for each user and folders, but we are still having problems with users that work with Windows 7 and 8 because they can not open any file. Windows XP users do not have this problem and they are working fine.
Can someone help me with this issue?

The new Pages v5 (Mavericks) uses a new file format with the same extension name (.pages). Older versions of Pages cannot open these documents unless you first export them as Word (.docx) and send these as Mail attachments. The same is true if you originate an IOS Pages v2.01 .pages document.
You may be sending to people who chose not to install Pages v5 on Mavericks and continue to use Pages ’09 v4.3 instead — especially for the superset of features that are presently not in Pages v5.

Also, once this happens, do I have to delete the album and start over or is there a way to merge the albums in iTunes? Using iTunes 10.04.08.

And you've made me remember that using the compilation flag may only work in iTunes if you go into the Songs view, then use View > Column Browser > Show Column Browser and then View > Column Browser > Group Compilations to make sure this line is ticked.
It is also best if View > Column Browser > Use Album Artists is also ticked.
