How do I zoom in to the desktop in mavericks?

One of my favorite features (on older OS X versions) was the ability to zoom into anything displayed on the screen by holding down control and sliding up on the mouse or trackpad.
Now I discover I can no longer do that.  I think Mavericks discontinued everything I liked and added new "cutesy" features that I don't care for.
How do I get back all of those nice features I had grown accustomed to?
Hey Apple!  It isn't broke, so PLEASE! Stop trying to fix it!

To answer my own question, I found the solution in System Preferences>Accessibility and turned the feature back on.
I don't know why, but I have to spend half of my life now searching through preferences and turning on features that I want.
Mavericks makes me want to go back to PC

    Welcome to the forum.
What are the pixel x pixel dimensions of the Video Clips?
What are the pixel x pixel dimensions of the Frame Size in your Sequence's Settings?
Those do not match, where they should, unless you have a very good reason for them to be different. One can Scale UP the Video to match, but that is usually going to degrade the Video quality.

There are several ways. The two easiest are to click the Junk icon to turn it off or right click the message and select Mart As-Not Junk.

Can anyone tell me how to eject a disc from an imac.  Also the desktop doesn't show a disc icon.   Help!

The very top row on your keyboard, right over the delete button, there is a button with a pyramid on it.  Push that button.
    Good luck!

  • How do I hide apps on the desktop iPad?

I don,t want some built in apps on the desktop.  How do I hide them?

If you press and hold one of the icons on your homescreen, then after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. You can then delete apps via the 'x' in their top left corners (though you can't delete the built-in Apple apps), or drag them around the screen so as to re-arrange theie order. If you drag one and hold it over another then a folder should get created with those two apps in - you can then drag more apps, up to 20, into each folder. Press the home button when you've finished deleting/rearranging so as to stop the shaking. You can also do it when connected to your computer's iTunes via the device's Apps tab (which some people find easier to do).
There is a bit more info about doing it directly on the iPad in the manual whch, if you havn't got a copy, can be downloaded from here : http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad

You can't zoom videos with the standard Camera App.

  • Turn off pinch to zoom for just the desktop

Is there any way to turn off the pinch to zoom feature on my macbook for just the desktop? I like to use it for zooming in on web pages and photos and stuff, but i hate when i accidentally make all my icons huge or tiney. Thanks

Yeah, I figured there wouldn't be an easy way to do it. I was actually kind of thinking of maybe a 3rd party software. I know theres things like multiclutch which let you assign your own gestures, but I don't think you can use it to turn off a gesture for just the finder. Any other ideas?

  • How can I remove icons from the desktop on my iPad Mini?

I understand that there are apps on my iPad that I cannot delete, but is there a way of removing an icon from the desktop?

Remove, but not uninstall from the device?  Where would they go if you did that?
Once you delete an App it gets removed form the homescreen, and deleted from the iPad.
There is no "Less used Apps" area or anything like that.
Everything you have, and you can access, is on the home screen. There is no other place to access Apps.

  • How can I get rid of the ~/Desktop/ directory?

I would like to delete that infernal Desktop/ directory because I don't use it for anything. Everytime I delete it, it gets remade on reboot. I've tried running pacman -Qo on the Desktop/ directory, but pacman only seems to be able to find non-directory files.
I figure this has to be a common question, but my forum searching skills appear to be lacking because I haven't found anyone who has asked it. All I managed to find was one thread on linuxquestions that was not helpful. Thanks.

After a bit of googling, I found out that people do have problems with the Desktop folder reapperaing in Gnome (where Nautilus seems to be recreating it...). This link http://pythonide.blogspot.com/2007/11/h … sktop.html could be useful for Gnome ppl.
As far as KDE4.1 is concerned, it doesn't have any such problem i.e. Desktop folder doesn't reappear after deletion. Additionaly, one can change one's default "Desktop folder" using start-menu > System settings > About me > Paths > Desktop path.
UPDATE: If your "default download dir" is Desktop, firefox would graciously create one for you if it doesn't exist, as ozar rightly said. This applies to KDE-4.1.

  • How to delete an app off the desktop, without removing it from the dock

Yep. I thought you would just drag it to the trash (like Windows) But when I do that, it deletes the whole Application.

    Hello there ...
When you move files or apps from the desktop to the trash that is what you are doing, trashing them. If you want to keep the application (and keep it's shortcut in the dock, 'cause that what the dock is ... Shortcuts ...), then move the application either into /Applications or your user folder, then the dock shortcut will remain and the app will still work, but just not be on the desktop ...
Hope that makes sense and helps ...

  • Application no longer allowed access to the desktop in Mavericks

HI I have a particularly irritating problem.  For a while now any application that attempts to access the desktop upon initial startup or to save a file to it will hang requiring a force quit from the finder.  Installations go without a hitch.  This problem only appears when apps either default to the desktop on first run or when they are directed to save a file from them to the desktop.  Drag and drop operations from local folders like documents and downloads or external drives or folders to the desktop have to problem doing so.  I have run repair permissions on my main drive.
Partial System log showing current app problem.

Any Ideas on what to do so I can get functionality back on my system.  Currently I am on a late 2007 iMac extreme edition 2.88gighertz model with 4 gigs of ram.  I am running the latest updates to Mavericks.  Overall its not a problem with programs that I can set or open with no preference to start but there are some programs that default to the desktop upon initial startup.  These are effectively unusable at present.  Thanks in advance for the help.

Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Or you can do it from the Recovery volume as described by machack in this post:

    1. Restart holding down the Command and R keys.
    2. You’ll be at the Repair Utilities screen. Click the Utilities item in the Menu Bar, then click Terminal.
    3. In the Terminal window, type resetpassword and hit Return.
    4. The password reset utility window launches, but you’re not going to reset the password. Instead, click on icon for your Mac’s hard drive at the top. From the dropdown below it, select the user account where you’re having issues.
    5. At the bottom of the window, you’ll see an area labeled Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the Reset button there.
The process takes a few minutes. When it’s completed, restart.

pick the photo in the slide show - click on the settings icon in the tool bar and on this slide - click on start next to Ken Burns at the bottom of the settings window and zoom the photo to the desired size using the zoom in the lower right hand corner and pan to the desired starting point by dragging - click end and do the same for the final position and you have it
