How do people work with iphoto

Even though I use Aperture for 95% of my work I occasionally find the need to use iphoto. (slideshows, Iphone syncing, etc)
When iphoto integration launched I turned off the generate preview functionality of aperture because it was taking 6 years to process my library and was consuming a ton of disk space. At the time I was using a G5.
I have a beefier machine now (mac pro) so I could probably turn the previews on again but I'm wondering if it's worth it. For now I just export the images that I need to iphoto but I was wondering what other people are doing.
Is the best option still to leave the previews off?

I view Aperture as more of an engine room, rather than a publishing medium.
I import all of my images (RAW files) into Aperture for processing and project management.
Once finished, I publish the image - whether that's via a print lab, exporting to disk, uploading to the web, or creating an iPhoto event or a combination of some or all. Either way, I look at iPhoto as just another publishing option (albeit it an excellent one for storing and viewing images).
Once published, I relocate the masters from Aperture to an external drive - which keeps my Aperture library reasonably small, and avoids duplication of images which have been "published" to iPhoto on the same computer. It also serves as a way to formally "close" a project in Aperture. I never delete the projects though, because they provide a wonderful way to archive the metadata for future needs (again - the engine room analogy).
I only generate previews in Aperture when I need them (ie, for iLife integration) and periodically delete all library previews to clean things up.

Yes you can. In iPhoto create a Album with the photos you want in it. You can drag them from your Events folder. In iTunes with your iPad connected go to Photos by cliking on your iPad. You can then select the album or events you want.

iCloud will not work with your computer because iCloud requires Lion. Lion requires an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better. For you to have iCloud and PhotoStream you would need to buy a newer Mac Intel model meeting the requirements for Lion:

I am new in OWB tools and I have many doubts. Therefore, I would like to know if anyone can guide me a bit with the theme of FK and profiles.
How do I work with FK in a data profile?
If I have a table that has a FK to most of the tables, because it is like a parent table. What should I do to have that FK in the profile?
e.g.

Can I associate the computer with both ids for the purpose of identifying all of our music with both or just one of our ids? Is there a good way to do this? I'm sure we're not the only people with this problem...

You cannot merge two separate libraries across user accounts. Photos does not have the function of merging different Photos.library files. If you have Aperture then you can merge the two before migrating over to Photos.

An icloud account is designed to be used by one user. That user can have all his/her devices synced with the same Apple data (email, contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc.) . When two people use the same account, then problems usually occur when one user edits data that the other user doesn't want changed on their device. You can continue sharing the same ID for the itunes account in order to share the purchased music, apps, etc. itunes accounts and icloud accounts are different.
It's by far better that each user has his/her own icloud account.

I have found that my Mac Book Pro 15 inch late 2011 is slower than my PC Windows 7 for certain downloads, and working with iPhoto. Would adding RAM be helpful in speeding up this process. Currently I have the stock 4GB RAM, and storage 500GB HD drive.

Working with iPhoto pix in iMovie '11

Two questions on working with iPhoto pictures in iMovie '11:
Is there a way to control the sort order of pictures in an iPhoto event in iMovie '11? Or, looking at it from a different perspective, how does iMovie '11 sort photos when I'm browsing an iPhoto event? iMovie has the photos in a different order than iMovie and I can't figure out how it's determinig sort order. I'd like the photos in iMovie to use the same sort order that iPhoto uses. The next best option would be to have iMovie sort by photo name. Just as background, the sort order I set in iPhoto is "By Title." Before import into iPhoto, I changed the titles of some photos that I know will not be used in iMovie so that they sort to the end of an event.
How do I navigate from one iPhoto event to another? I must be missing something basic...when I need to move from one event to another, I have to select another iPhoto choice (such as "Photos" or "Last Import") and then select "Events" again.

For Question #1, an album definitely helped. In iPhoto, I highlighted all 19 events in this particular library, selected File>New Album, and set the sort order by title. Back in iMovie, the list of photos was sorted the same.
Regarding Question #2, I figured out why iMovie was acting the way it was. I had increased the height of the photo viewer/browser pane so that the source list collapsed to a single drop-down. So the source list that normally looks like this:

I don't think iMovie is set to allow you to go back to the list of all events without selecting some other item in the drop-down first. When the viewer pane is lowered so that the source list looks like the first screen above, you can click on Events and have it return to the list of all events.

I have iphoto 6 and when i have it open and i click on TM in the dock it gets rid of iphoto and brings up the desktop folder instead. How can i get TM to work with iphoto visually?

Yes, that exact same order you mentioned.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it is a restored library from the previous iPhoto?

iPhoto is no longer developed. At some point in the future (though not in the lifetime of Yosemite) an OS Update will come along that may disable it completely. How you choose to go forward is up to you. Some folks go all-in with the new app, some may hold back to see how it develops over time. But eventually, iPhoto will no longer work.

1) click in page window command button, Identify the header and footer window
2) single click on Header window and click change button(pencil symbol)

Thinking about buying an Airport for my iPad to boost the wifi signal any know how the Airport works with an iPad?

An Airport will not boost a WiFi signal. Period.
An Airport can be configured to extend (repeat) a WiFi signal generated by another Airport. This is done to extend the distance of the WiFi system but it does cause a loss of throughput (because of overhead).
I wanted to get a WiFi signal out to my back porch. I turned off the radio on my existing router (Westell) and purchased TWO Airport Express units. One replaced the Westell radio and the other functions as an extender. Works like a champ.
