How do put an e-mail icon on navigation bar?

I am new to firefox & do not know how to get to my e-mail while on the browser. Can I put an e-mail icon on the browser somewhere that will start-up Outlook Express.

Firefox hasn't had a feature like that for over 5 years now. You need to install this extension to get that functionality and the icon.

You can't delete it. Look on all your screens and inside all your folders. When you locate it, tap and hold it until it wiggles, then drag it back to where you want it, finidh by tapping the home button. If you still can't find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. This will restore the home screen to its original configuration but may move other apps around to do so.

Do you own Acrobat? If so what version? If not what version of Word and PP do you have? Newer versions contain non-Adobe software for creating pdfs. If you do not own Acrobat that it would be best to check in a Microsoft forum on how to use Word to create pdfs.

open up the Inspector and go to the Page Tab (second from left)
Choose Layout and increase the size of Header Height

White dot beside icons in Navigation Bar

What does it mean when a small white dot appears beside some of the icons within the nav bar? I assume it means that the application is running in the background. Is it prudent to "Quit" these applications or is it OK to keep it running in the background? Sometimes I don't like to Quit it, as it disappears off the nav bar and I have to retreive it. Thanks!

Yes, the white dot indicates that the Application is open.
To retain any Application on the Dock +(Navigation Bar)+ control (right) click on it and in Options select Keep in Dock. Now then when you Quit the Application, the short cut icon should remain on the Dock for the next time you want to open it.

Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks. 
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar. 
This will open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark if you want to remove such a bookmarked entry.

How to hide extra text and icons in address bar

I want to make the icons and extra text in the address bar go away since they do nothing for me and only take up space that I need to use to see the whole URL. Right now there's a green padlock icon on the left side with 1/4 of the space taken up by "Mozilla Foundation (US)" instead of the URL, other times it's a little globe or a little lego/car battery looking thing, or several icons in a row. There's a permanent star shaped thingy on the left and a down arrow that want to get rid of as well. I don't care at all what they mean, I just want them gone. I need to see as much of the URL in the URL bar as possible, not a bunch of icons and extra non-URL text. The address bar should be for addresses, and that's how I want my browser to function. I don't care one single bit what those icons or extra text are for, so please don't try to advocate for their staying. I've made up my mind 100% that I want them gone. Can I make them go away, yes or no?

I use code to hide the URL in case of a EV certificate and only show it on hover.
You still see the green padlock.
