How do screen sharing in Flash Media Server?

Can one use the Flash Media Server to share a window that one
is currently working on with everyone so that everyone could see
(through the Web)? If yes, how can we do it?

FMS doesn't support screen sharing... Adobe is keeping that
one for themselves.
What you can do (although it's a sloppy hack) is to use a
screen capture driver like Camtasia, and have the user (the one
with the desktop that is to be viewed) select that as their camera
source. You then treat it like any other live video stream.
This means that anyone who is going to show their desktop
needs to have the screen cap driver installed.

  • How to edit F4V from Flash Media Server?

    I'm using FMS 4.5 to record a live stream from a webcam. Because of the poor quality when also recording audio on the same stream, I have to use two. So, I end up with two .f4v files - one with the video, and one with the audio. I need to then combine them into a proper video. However I cannot import these files into Premiere - which is quite goofy. Anyone know how to manage this?

    Well, there is definitely something weird with the file.  I couldn't find what, though.
    What worked was converting to MP4 using the following:

    How many concurrent users supports Flash Media Server version 3.0.7?

    There are major difference between the two editions you are mentioning but most important difference in your context is - No Remote SharedObjects and No Server-side coding is possible in Flash Media Streaming Server. So you won't be able to write full fledged Video Chat or Text Chat - you migth have to use some other technologies so that you can create chat rooms and use FMSS to do Video Streaming part.

  • How to get list of logged-in users from Flash Media Server in a Flash programm? (Or login/logout notifications)

    Hi there,
    I'm Very sorry for asking this. I guess it's a very basic problem, but I'm very new to Flash and Flash media Server and I need a very fast answer...
    Currently I'm working on a Director project using a flash program which connects to Flash Media Server (I guess version 3, it's quite old). Unfortunately they forgot to make a flash method to send the actual userlist (or a notification when someone logged in or out) to Director. AND, unfortunately, they lost the source code of that flash programm, so I cannot look into it or alter it *sigh*.
    Now I want to do a new flash programm which covers the old one, letting all known methods "pass trough" and building an additional method to gain the user list (or login/out notification).
    How do I get the login information from Flash Media Server? (Would be good if you could provide an idea already for flash code... as I said I'm a tard at flash till now)
    Thank you so much. And I hope you understand my situation asking here...
    Jana

    hparmar : yes, that's what I feared... I hoped it would be possible to tell the server from which application I do need the login information. What a mess.
    Dimo Hristov: thanks for your offer! I already tried decompiling the flash program with the shareware version of Trillix Decompiler. It only decompiled the UI (in a terrible way) but no source code at all. It was the shareware version where I can decompile 2 or 3 programms to test the software. Are you sure the non-free version of Trilix Flash Decompiler will do..?

    Hi All,
    I have website which has live streaming module its working fine, same module i want to integrate for iOS devices. For live video streaming we are using FMS 4.0. So please let me know how we can integrate this for iOS devices using flash media server 4.0.
    Thanks in Adavnce

    You need to place the crossdomain.xml in the webroot folder. Create a text file in the webroot folder using notepad, and call it crossdomain.xml. The text below will give you a wide open access policy, which is fine for testing.
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
    <cross-domain-policy>
              <allow-access-from domain="*" />
    </cross-domain-policy>
    For debugging HTTP streaming I recommend you get hold of something like Charles or Fiddler. These will greatly assist in pinpointing any issues.

  • How to use flash media server with cisco show n share live event module?

    hello all
    Is it  possible to use flash media server in show n share (non dme)live event ?  i 've configured flash media server, can receive  multicast streams, bu i have no idea what to write in video url fild in the live event basic setup.

    Hi Temur,
    You should be able to stream from a Flash Media Server.
    The URL should look like this:
    rtmp://xxx.yyy.com//flv:
    You can do some tests from a PC to get the exact URL that would suit your environment.

  • How to test streaming bandwidth on localhost with Flash Media Server ?

    Hello,
    I'm trying to debbug my code on Client side (Action Script 3) that works with Flash Media Server 4 on localhost. Everything seems fine up to that point.
    However, when I'm trying to test my player with other remote streaming servers, I notice bugs because of lower bandwith transmission between the server and the player.
    Is there a simple way to simulate lower bandwith with FMS4 on localhost (by config, application.xml, programmation...) ?
    Thanks
    Seb Ethier

    Thank you zarihs Rawna
    Indeed, i have been with Server-Side ActionScript (SSAS) way. it's more simple, i think.
    Well, here the step what i did :
    Step 1 :
    Make a file "main.asc" et copy & paste the code below.
    - more info : http://www.peachpit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=31217
          *main.asc*
        var bandwidth;
        application.allowDebug = true;
        // Application callback functions
        application.onConnect = function(client, user) {
            //12800 = 100 Kbps
            //64000 = 500 Kbps
            //131072 = 1Mbps
            //327680 = 2.5 Mbps
            //983040 = 7.5 Mbps
            //1966080 = 15 Mbps
            //3932160 = 30 Mbps
            //6553600 = 50 Mbps
            //15728640 = 120 Mbps
            bandwidth = 64000;
            client.setBandwidthLimit(bandwidth, bandwidth);
            trace("clientToServer = " + client.getBandwidthLimit(0) +  " serverToClient="+  client.getBandwidthLimit(1));
            application.acceptConnection(client);
            trace("TEST");
    Step 2 : Save the file under the folder underneath FMS's applications directory
    Example : FMS\application\dyn
    More info : http://www.flashcomguru.com/articles/fms2_basics.cfm
    Step 3: Start the FMS server. If there is a problem, check the log file
    Example : FMS\logs\_defaultVHost_\dyn\_definst_\application.00.log
    Step 4 : (optional) Change the value of the variable bandwidth for your test. I put in comment some common internet connection speed converted in bytes.
    That's all,
    regards,
    sethier

  • LCCS functionality with flash media server 4

    Hi,
    I'm now using the LCCS account in my application to create p2p audio/video connections and screen sharing. Audio/video streaming is working well. However screen sharing uses RTMP protocol which means that all the data goes through the server. Due to network speed (and big distance from user1 -> LCCS server -> user2) screen sharing isn't very enjoyable and efficient because of delays. Now I wonder how to implement my own Flash Server, that users can authenticate to, publish p2p streams, and share their screens via my private server. I Assume that I need Flash Media Server 4 Enterprise (Am I wrong? Maybe some lower version applies), but what next. I completely don't know how to bite it. How to implement connecting/authenticating/routing/making connections to my own server?
    Best Regards
    Peter.

    Complete the following steps for each of the following files located in the Flash Media Server root installation folder (C:/Program Files/Adobe/Flash Media Server, by default):
    FMSAdmin.exe
    FMSCore.exe
    FMSMaster.exe
    FMSEdge.exe
    Right-click the file and chooseProperties.
    Select the Compatibility tab and click Change Settings For All Users.
    Select Run This Program As Administrator. Click Apply, and then click OK.
    Complete these steps for each Flash Media Server service.
    Restart the computer.
    Flash Media Server starts when the computer starts.

    Hi,
    Thanks for using FMS4.
    When you said "
    I have stopped and restarted service so many time, rebooted server at least twice. "
    How did you make sure that the services are restarted ? Probably they have not yet started at all ? You need to have admin privileges to start/stop the FMS services. Please make sure you have the admin rights for the logged in user.
    Open a command prompt as admin, and run the following commands :
    net start fms
    net start fmsadmin.

  • Flash Media Server Licensing Question

    This may seem like a simple NO, but I'm interested in
    building a pre-built image which will contain Linux installation
    and Adobe Flash Media Server pre-configured. This setup would be in
    a single image file used to run inside of VMware Server as a
    Virtual Machine. By building the image, anyone who wants to test
    FMS could download the image and load it into the Virtual Machine,
    and not have to dedicated a full server to the installation.
    If anyone can provide me a factual answer, either yes, no, or
    someone to contact at Adobe I would be very appreciative.
    Similar images of other programs can be found here:
    http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances
    Other applications images include firewalls, web servers, and wiki
    servers

    No. FMS is not an "out of the box" solution. You'll need some
    experience with Flash (client side flash), but how much you'll need
    to know depends on the application you plan to build.
    Adobe provides a set of communication components and sample
    applications, and it's fairly easy to drag and drop your way to a
    simple webcam application. It won't be very flexible, and it
    certainly won't be secure, but it will get you started.
    You'll also need to understand how to install and configure
    server software, or hire someone to do that part for you. Just so
    it's said, you can't install FMS on a shared hosting account, so
    you'll need your own server.
    As far as learning curve goes, I suppose it depends on your
    background. If you already have an understanding of actionscript
    and client/server communication, then the learning curve isn't
    horribly steep. If you don't have a background in Flash (client
    side flash), you might want to cover some of those basics before
    diving into FMS. Unlike other streaming servers, there is no
    default player that just pops open on the client side when a stream
    is requested (like Windows Media or Real)... you need to build the
    client application (.swf) yourself.

  • Is Flash Media Server is Thread Safe?

    Hello,
    I am trying to develop a game in flex, using flash media server 4.5. As its a multiplayer game, the server side code, should be multi threaded.
    Please let me know, is the "Flash Media Server 4.5" has Thread Safety mechanism. Please provide me any link( or guide me) to have detail decription regarding this.

    Hi,
    I am not sure if this exactly will help you but you can use SharedObject class to store data shared by different clients. With this you can also achieve synchronization. Below link has the details about SharedObject class:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/SharedObject. html
    Also, following link has an example which shows how to synchronize users and store data using SharedObject:
