Stay forever and don't count towards your iCloud storage use.

  • HT201317 My iPhoto keeps telling me that it is unable to connect with photo stream and when I click on Photo Stream in iCloud settings, a few minutes later, it is un checked. Please help. Photo Stream works on my iPad and iPhones, just no longer on my mac

Hi. When icloud first came out it worked well on all of my mac devices (macbook pro, ipad, iphones). However now it no longer works on my computer. When I go to system preferences it is unchecked and when I check to enable it, it tells me it can't. I also go to iCloud settings and when I check the photo stream box a few minutes later it is unchecked (which I never do). Please help.

Mmmm, I was hoping there might be a few more clues.
With little confidence you might try the following.
    Reset photostream at iCloud.com.
Log out/in of iCloud on your Mac.
    Trash your system preferences plist.

  • I bought 20GB of iCloud storage to back up my iPad, but it still says 5GB, the original storage. What do I do?

The money was already payed and I'm really confused on why, I tried restarting my IPAD and shutting down, etc but it still says 5GB.

Try this. If it works, backup the iPad after the device restarts.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Photo Stream on iCloud not working

    Hi,
    Here's the facts...please help.
    1. iPhone 4S just backed up to iCloud...took 3 hours.
    2. All settings are in "ON" position for: Photo Stream and iCloud between all my devices, including "automatic uploads"
    3. NOTHING shows up in Photo stream...on any devices (iPad 3, and iPhone 4S)
    4. iPhone 4S shows 2.2GB backed up on iCloud
    5. iPad 3 shows 64.1MB backed up.
    6. Attempted to back up iPad 3 numerous times, via WiFi...which I'm always on...it took 30 sec...nothing transfered.
To put it lightly...I'M ******.  I've been trying to get my photos and videos from my iPhone 4S onto my iPad 3 and it's failing miserabally every stinking time.  Here my words when I say EVERYTHING is in the "ON" position for iCloud file transfers between my iOS devices.  The only thing I haven't tried is putting in my Apple email ID for the sharing option.  By my estimation that should be irrelevent.  I'm going to sleep on this now, cause I'm on the brink of stress, and I don't want that.  Hopefully I wake up tomorrow with some help.  Thanks.
    -Paul

Yeah...after reading numerous threads I discovered this disturbing solution.  It's beyond me as to why settings have to be "reset" in order to work properly.  As I've stated in another thread....my iPhone and iPad have had iCloud device sharing set to "ON" since the day I walked out of the Apple store with my product.  Completely unacceptable on Apple's behalf.  If it's "ON" it should work...no questions asked.
    Thanks for the response.

i have i Photo 8.1.2.  do i need to buy iPhoto 11 to photo stream through iCloud?

Yes, and you need to be at lion level in the os.... AND you need to have an intel chip set greater than intel duo core to run lion.   Don't make my mistake and buy iPhoto 11 only to discover I need to upgrade to lion (which I can't on both of my macs!)

  • Can't share photos using shared Photo Stream with iCloud Control Panel for Windows

BACKSTORY: My friend took pictures of my family. I want to see the pictures he took. We live about 2.5 hours apart by car. Gas prices are too high for me to just drive down with an external hard drive to get the pictures and I might as well throw my money out the window if I were to ship him a hard drive and he ship it back. SO. I ask him if he would share photos with me and he quickly agreed. He added me to a Photo Stream  he has. ok cool. I recieve the invitation email just fine but this is the error I get when I click on the link:
    ERROR MESSAGE:
    Photo Stream
Follow these steps to join a shared photo stream
1.Make sure you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 6 or a Mac running OS X 10.8.2 withiPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later installed.
    2. Sign in to iCloud on your devices.
    3. Open the invitation email on an updated device and tap the Join this Photo Stream button.
    WHAT I NEED:
How can I view shared photo streams using iCloud Windows control panel 2.1.2.0? How can I work around this error message? I don't own any of these products that apple wants me to own in order to view these photos! I don't have the cash to go out and purchase them. What can I do to get "my" photos? Do I have to be signed into my friends apple id to see the shared photos?
    What I've tried:
I already have the icloud control panel installed and updated to the latest version.
I'm signed into iCloud on the control panel. (no apple id password issues)
    I have photo stream checked.
I have my photo stream checked
I have shared photo stream checked.
I have tried copying and pasting the link into the address bars of Safari for Windows, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer,  and Firefox respectively and pressing enter to load. all present the same error message.
I visited iCloud.com to see if there was anywhere to access the shared photo stream there... No option exisits
Checked my photo stream folder in windows explorer. it's completely empty. I haven't put any of my own photos there so nothings missing per se... I just can't see my friends shared photos.
    MY SET UP:
    Windows 7 64bit Home Premium
    4gb of RAM
    iCloud control panel version 2.1.2.0
I don't own any version of Outlook, (if that matters. I doubt that it matters at all in this case.)
I don't have any iOS Devices or a mac capable of 10.8. My MacBook is stuck at 10.6.8. It's a late mid 2008 just before the aluminum unibody computers came out. If I had only waited another month... sigh. Murphy's Law is alive and well.
any sugestions, especially correct answers, are welcome. please help me figure this out. Thanks in advance.

    Hello desert_dweller5,
It sounds like you art trying to access a Shared Photo Stream, but you do not have one of the devices to enable your Apple ID as an iCloud account.  The following article provides information on how Shared Photo Streams work:
    iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
The article states that for privately Shared Photo Streams to work, the recipient will not only have to have an Apple ID, but it will have to be an iCloud account:
Friends and family with iCloud accounts can view your photos in the Photos app on any device using iOS 6 or later; on a Mac in iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later; on a Windows PC with Windows Vista or later and iCloud Control Panel 2.0 or later installed; or on a second generation or later Apple TV with software version 5.1 or later installed. They can also view your photos on the web if you enable Public Website in the settings or options for your Shared Photo Stream.
Since you do not have an iCloud account and just and Apple ID, your friend can share the photo stream as a public website so that you can view it, as stated in the same article:
Can I share with people who don't have an iCloud account?
Yes. If you enable Public Website in the settings or options for your shared photo stream your photos will be published to a website that anyone can view in an up-to-date web browser.
To be able to change an Apple ID to an iCloud account, you would need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later as stated in the following article:

  • Problem with shared photo streams in iCloud

I am using version 9.6 of iPhoto on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012). I am using OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1. All of a sudden I cannot see any photos in my shared photo streams in iCloud - all the streams are showing up and the subscribers but it says there are 0 photos. It is the same for mine and other people's shared photo streams. I can still see all the photos on my iPhone and iPad. I have not been able to find a solution online. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes it helps to delete the cached copy of the Photo Streams from your user library.
Open the folder ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/          in your user library in your home folder.
Remove the complete folder iLifeAssetManagement/ to your Desktop and compress it.
    Then restart your mac.
Your user library may still be hidden.
To open the hidden User Library:
    Quit iPhoto.
Use the Finder's "Go" menu. Click "Go", then hold down the options key, until you are seeing "Library" in the drop down menu appear and click it)
In the window that opens select the folder "Application Support", then look for " iLifeAssetManagement/"

  • Trouble accepting invitation to a photo stream on iCloud for PC

My father used to have an iPhone so he has a valid Apple ID already. He still wants to be able to be a part of the photo streams my family is creating and showing nowadays. We downloaded iCloud Control Panel for his Windows 8 laptop and all of the photo streams he was previously subscribed to show up. However, when I sent him an invite to the newest photo stream we can't figure out how to join it. When we click the "subscribe" button in the email he receives it pulls up a new page that says "To subscribe to...photo stream on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, open your invitation in the Mail app, and click the Subscribe button in the message.", nothing about how to subscribe on PC. We could really use some help! We need to know how to subscribe to a photo stream on iCloud for a Windows 8 PC.
    Thanks!

A video cannot be saved from within a shared stream.

  • Receiving someone else's photos in my Photo Stream through iCloud.

I've been using Photo Stream on iCloud for almost a year with no issues.  Last week, some random guy's photos started appearing in my stream.  The pics seem to be from an American account (or at least he was attending an NFL preseason game), while I live in Canada.  I'm a little uncomfortable with what seems like a pretty serious privacy issue and I'm obviously wondering if he can see my photos too.  How do I fix this?  Thanks.

Just as an interesting follow-up, I contacted Apple's technical support line to try to inform them of this privacy violation (i.e. That I've received photos of some guy's kids on my phone) and was told that they couldn't help me because I didn't have tech support coverage.  I could, however, purchase said coverage for $60 or $70.  I explained that I wasn't having a technical issue with my phone, but rather there was a back-end issue.  I asked why I should pay to have them deal with a problem on their end, and a problem that is actually affecting someone else, since it's his photos that are getting broadcast.  The Apple tech couldn't supply an answer to that.  He did suggest that I change my password, though I can't imagine the issue is that some guy hacked my account so he could upload pictures of his family playing in the backyard or him attending a football game.
