How do tell if iPad has acquired GPS signal

iPad-mini, Retina, WI-FI + cellular, IOS 7.0.6
I want to use my iPad camera in wilderness areas to identify specific areas. I want the Pad to store the GPS coordinates in the EXIF of pictures I take. Question is - how do I tell whether iPad has acquired GPS satellites before I press the camera shutter. I don't want to take a picture and then discover the EXIF does not contain the GPS coordinates. Can I do this without using any 3rd party apps?
TIA
Eric

This helped me in the sense that I feel I didn't overlook something obvious about GPS status. I feel cheated that Apple doesn't have a GPS status icon in the status bar. Also, I would think that all Apps that use GPS would at least indicate whether they have acquired GPS satellites or not. I imagine some of them do but as far as I can tell the Camera app does not (?). I don't feel that I should have to consult another app in order to determine when conditions are right to tap the Camera app's shutter. If that's the case then I guess I'll use Motionx.

  • My iPhone 4 has no GPS signal.

I have location services turned on.  My iPhone 4 cannot get a GPS signal from the Google Maps or MotionX Drive app.  It's only able to find a location using the cell network, not GPS positioning.  Is there anyway to troubleshoot this issue?

I can confirm the the native map app cannot "ping" and is only able to find my location using the cell network.  Other than taking this to the apple store, if there are any suggestions, please let me know.

  • How to tell on iPad if I'm on N or G?

I have a time capsule and another airport extreme. Both are capable of N. I have it configured for dual mode to support my iPhone that can only use G. My question -- how can I tell from the iPad which network it is on? How can I tell if it is on the N or G network?
    Thanks

On most routers you can give the two segments different SSIDs. This is what I do for example.

  • Can i view how much data my ipad has used?

Altho I am on an unlimited internet package I am shocked at the daily usage figures.  Especially as I only watch about an hour of streamed TV per day.
I'd like to see how much data streaming is happening on my daughter's iPad mini - right before I go and find a method to time restrict the device!
    Thanks in advance

    Settings>Cellular/Mobile
Here you can check the amount of data being used. I would suggest to reset the statistics (bottom of the page) then monitor the usage.

  • Newbie question: how to tell if account has web services access?

As the title suggests I am new to CRMOD though I have worked with other web Apis.
Right now I have a CRM account but keep getting the "capslock" response in my SOAP call. I think it is because the account is just a regular account and is missing certain rights. How do I tell the admin to grant my account those rights? I'm not sure how to make such a request in words they will understand.

    Hello Daniel,
You need to identify your role. If you go to mysetup you would know your role.
Ask the admin to grant "Enable Web Services Access" prvilege to your role.
    This should be fine.

  • Assuming no obstruction, how far can an iPad/iPhone transmit Wifi signal?

    Hi there,
I'm interested in setting up an outdoor Wifi network that mobile users can connect to.  When planning hotspot density, I believe I'm limited by the distance/range a standard smartphone/tablet can transmit Wifi signal to.  Do you know how far an iPhone or iPad can be from an access point before losing its Wifi connection?
    Thank you!

  • How to tell what template is applied to a Framemaker file?

I'm new to Framemaker...so please excuse if this is a silly question.
We are trying to figure out how to tell what template has been applied to a Framemaker file. We are using the structured view in Framemaker 7.2.
Perhaps I am thinking too much like a Microsoft Word user -- in which case I can look at what template has been applied to a document.
Does Framemaker work the same way -- or are templates associated with Framemaker files in some other way?
    Thank you --
    J-Ha

    J-Ha,
FrameMaker works differently. Strictly speaking, there is no way to tell which template was used last. A FrameMaker template is just a FrameMaker document which you call "template". Using File > Import > Formats you can import all or selected formats from one document to another. The main benefit: Each document is completely self-contained and does not require any other document.
Many solutions I know of include a user variable named something like "template-version" into their template document or put the version information on one of the reference pages. When importing user variables or reference pages, this can tell you version imported last.

  • Apple website says WiFi only iPad will geotag, but they also say only the 4G version has a GPS. How can it geotag without GPS?

How can I add a new iPad?
My 90 year old Mother is getting an iPad, but she is not able to sync it. I would like to handle the syncing chores for her, on my computer. Tried this with my brother's iPad, and iTunes rejected it, saying only one device could be synced with iTunes. I can do it with my iPhone, why not with a second iPad?

are you asking how to add an ipad ???? or are you asking how wifi only ipads geotag??
how does a wifi only device geotag by rigor
wifi only devices scan your surroundings for the Mac addresses and ssids of your surrounding wifi networks, and most likely the power levels of those networks. they send this information to several different places, either google, apple or skyhook. i think its called skyhook, from what i recall from this question before. well anyway. once you send the list of wifi networks to them, you will get back what is most likely your gps coordinates. its not as exact as gps, though.
this technology is also used by other devices that have actual gps chips in them, like the iphone, as a way to speed up gps locates. gps you need to understand can take a few minutes to 14 minutes to actually receive the radio signals from the satellites, so surrounding wifi networks and cell phone towers and sometimes constallation maps are used to speed up the process of obtaining your location
this is what google does with all those vans you see driving around. they scan the networks and their gps corridinates for your ipad wifi. apple collects them from our iphones, because it is cheaper. this was widely reported as a bug, and the media was saying that apple was tracking your wearabouts, but it was just a bug.
this is also how a mac computer (mini, mac book air, mac book pro) can be located on icloud. it does not have a gps receiver either
