For the balance sheet, you could use either LSMW or FB01 (fast entry), if the qunatity of the lines is not huge. For the link; what do you mean exactly? You can define WBS is characteristic in CO-PA if you want and define the proper derivation rule (KEDR).

Not sure about the scenario - many BOMs for many production line - Is it that there are very high number of material master data which has BOMs or there are lot of BOMs for single material. If it is the second case, concept of variant configuration can be used, where number of BOMs are reduced by using super BOM.
Regarding high quantity of POs: probably you can exlpore the option of clubbing small POs into a single one for common vendors.

...you should have a look at the diffeent best practices offerings (aka. All-in-One). Theree are a lot of offerings there - pre-configured, ready to go - that apply to manufacturing industries like Chemical, Automotive, etc. Go to help.sap.com and you will find details abiout the content of the different best practice solutions.

How to manage linked files with multiple designers?

Hi,
I work at a small company with multiple designers (5 of us) where 3 of us work remotely. We use dropbox to manage our files so that everyone has access--we keep client files in specific folders and stock media in a shared folder.
Currently whenever we open a file that's been edited by someone else, we have to go in and individually relink the files. Some would prefer to embed the files, however this can increase filesize by 60-400mb. Our current files total in at around 500gb, so I don't think that's a viable option.
4 of us are on Macs, 1 on Windows. 1 has CS5, 3 have CS6 and one has CC.
My question is this:
If we all have the same path to dropbox (or the same path to the file, either way) will Illustrator be able to automatically find the files?
Eg. X:/Dropbox/...
If so, will it work cross platform?
I know InDesign has a better link management system, is there a good plugin that would help with this?
I'm going to continue to do my own research and testing, but I thought I'd consult those more knowledgeable than me.

Thanks for your response. Currently, dropbox works so that it syncs online but also is stored locally on your hard drive (not like a network drive). So one person could have a different path to the dropbox folder than the other. As for the second part, that would be about the same as embedding it in the file as far as general disk space usage. We use many of the same stock photos in multiple files, so keeping them in the same location reduces the amount of space used. It wouldn't be a huge problem if illustrator used relative paths instead of absolute paths, but alas.
I was forgetting that Mac OS doesn't use drive letters, so there probably won't be a way for illustrator to read things as the same path cross-platform...
I'm still wondering if there are any good plug-ins which help find broken links.

How do you link styles with bullets and lists?

It seems that amongst all the other hapless changes in Pages 5 there is no way to link bullets & lists to a style. I hope I'm missing something.
If I create a style with a numbered list it, then click on the next paragraph I'd like to have that style, the style name changes along with font characteristics and alignment, but no bullets or numbers. Moreover, pages crashes often when I try to update bullets and lists.
I have a fantasy that somewhere in Pittsburgh where I beieve the Pages development team lives there's a building full of coders passionately fixing all these things. If just the people on this thread put in $20, the former cost of Pages, we could probably hire a team to do the work for them.

How ADF BC can cope with unexpected changes to the underlying database

Hi all,
i have been experimenting with Fusion Web Applications based on ADF BCs for a few weeks now. The framework is, indeed, very powerful but i wonder if it is flexible too and, in particular, if it is able to smoothly adapt to changes occurring on the underlying database. I have some doubts about that cause, in some circumstances, i found myself in the need of modifying the database structure (removing or adding columns or constraints to tables) and, though i was able to quickly and easily reflect those changes to entity and view objects thanks to ADF synchronization, the consequent adaptation of the existing JSPXs based on the previous definition of the view objects was quite painful: i found very hard to reflect the changes to the JSPXs and, in some cases, i had to rewrite the pages from scratch!
Since the company i work for is projecting to use ADF for realizing a web application backed by a very large database (which i bet will undergo to numerous changes during the development phase!) i'd like to know if there is something i'm missing here and to ask you some advices on the recommended approaches to develop agile and flexible Fusion Web Applications with ADF BCs.

So I wouldn't exactly go outside when it's below freezing and watch a movie. Also if it gets cold, let it warm to room temp before you use it, and don't, for example, take it into the bathroom to warm up since cold items and warm, moist air lead to condensation which can damage the device.

How do you cope with releases of your custom Portal Content (PCD Content)?

Dear SDN Community,
I'm very interested in how you cope with release management in the Portal (PCD).
Where I'm focusing on is the release of a "project" trough your landscape (Dev, Test, QA, Prod)
When starting a project you start with a new folder lets say "My Custom App" that contains all your content.
Once done you transport to Test, QA and eventually Prod. Now the Content is in use and roles are assigned.
Request for changes arive from the customer and eventually a new release need to be implemented.
Offcourse you could then change/update the content in the initial folder and transport that to Test, QA again but you will not be able to fix incidents while creating the new release because objects maybe touched.
I was thinking about a scenario where you create subfolders in your application folder, see example below:
\ "My Custom App"
|--- Release 1.0
|--- Release 1.1
|--- Release 2.0
|--- Current
You only do this on your Dev system. Everytime a Release is OK you put it in the "Current" folder and transport this to Prod.
Using this you won't have to change the Role assignments in your different landscapes as they are always pointing to the "Current" folder. In addition this scenario enables you to provide Pilot rollouts to smaller groups parallel to the Major release.
My question to you is to shoot on it and give your oppinion/feedback... where possible provide links to SAP document or best practices that describe this subject...

It is an interesting approach you describe and I see no reason it should not work.
The only thing which can create some problems is that the object ID of roles must be unique. For example com.mycom.roles.roleA cannot exist in two separate folders in the PCD. For all other PCD objects it is the PCD ID which must be unique and this includes the folder prefix.
In my experience, the most natural solution for this in large portal environments is to have both a version and a production line.
The production line will be your standard sandbox, development, test/QA, production and the version line will consist of an development and test/QA systems.
Long running projects for enhancements to existing functionality will be done in the version line, before being transported to the production line when ready for GoLive. This makes even more sense when you have version lines for backend systems your portal are using which are modified at the same time.
Whilst the project is running, the production line can be used for changes to the current version, but it is important to note that all these changes have to be migrated into the version line in order to make sure they are not overwritten.
Of course, a version line brings extra cost related to synchronization and similar, so it is not always it makes sense.

I am authoring a DL DVD disc for a Yoga Institute, after burning original master with No copies allowd condition using, CGMS - CSS conditions, How to make 1000 copies.
If I buy DVD duplicator ( replicator?) and hook up to PC via USB , then use the duplicator burner to make copies, how it works. As I tried on www days, after days, burning my eyes, all information is confusing.
This is challanging project and I am entering newly in the market. So this is my death or life. Please help.

Hi Pierrot10,
Insert your backup disc (or plug your external hd), then open Mail.
In the File menu, click *Import Mailboxes* and follow the steps for a *Mail for Mac OS X* transfer.
Navigate to your CD/DVD's or external HD's backup and hit "OK".
This should create a new "Imported" folder in Mail with all your old messages in it, that you can then rearrange as you wish, creating new mailboxes etc.

Go into Settings App and turn OFF Find My iPhone. It will ask for your old password, but in the future you can use your new Apple ID account.
