No, use an online storage facility such as dropbox which will allow you to share content with each other.

  • How can I share home desktop with laptop while on travel?

I have a MacPro at home and take my MacbookPro on the road with me. I would like to be able to get on my home MacPro remotely to get files and use my home printer to print things for my family. Do you have suggestions on how I can best do that? If it takes new software, what software should I purchase?

    sig:
The point that I was trying to make, was that some people have found the directions as given in the referenced thread to be quite straightfoward and easy to follow and implement. Others, on the other hand, have seemed to have been overwhelmed by those very cookbook formula directions. Hence, my statement "Under the assumption that these posts work for you and you get secure file sharing and screen sharing connections set up..." I didn't interpret that as a request of the O.P. and I still don't. It is regrettable that you did, without considering the entire sentence in context, and have accused me of being a naughty poster.
Once again, for the benefit of yourself, and the Apple Forum Moderators, it was not a request of the O.P., as you have erroneously concluded. The point was that some people have found the directions to work and some were overwhelmed by them. The following point was that if they work for the O.P., and the O.P. is not overwhelmed by them, that I strongly urge that he look into hardening his ssh.
I have to request of you, that in the future, for scattered words or phrases of mine that you find offensive, that you please consider the entire statement in context before policing my posts. You were mistaken in your assumption and belief today, and I do regret that you have misinterpreted my statements.
Thank you for your consideration of these points, and you have a great day, too!

  • How do I use home sharing with the new iTunes to put a movie on my iPad

My husband and I each have separate iTunes accounts since we both have iPhones. However we share an apple TV and an iPad, both of which are usually under my account. It used to be that since we had home sharing activated that we could have movies that he purchased with his account on the iPad along with the movies that I purchased with my account. However when we updated to the new iTunes I could not put movies that he purchased with his account (he had a gift card so we used his account instead of mine) onto the iPad. So now we have a movie for our kids that they can only watch on his phone. I want to know what the trick is to "sharing" the movie between our accounts/devices mainly the iPad and Apple TV so that I don't have to wipe the iPad and change accounts on it just for my kids to watch a movie.

If you'd like to see a video on the topic, check out this from the New York Times => Yo Jude: Many iPods; One Computer.

  • How do i use home sharing with the new itunes 11?

i just updated the itunes and usaully I use homesharing between my two laptops but with this new update I only know how to sign into homesharing using it is the diffucult part.

    Morning Saintine,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Home Sharing enables you to stream or transfer music, movies, TV shows, apps, and more among up to five authorized computers in your household. To do so, you will need to Turn on Home Sharing on each computer using the same Apple ID.

  • How do I share my videos/pictures on icloud with other users?

We have taken videos of Christmas using our iPad.  We have uploaded them to iCloud.  How can we share these videos with our family in other parts of the country?

Hi... and thanx for your help...
I did not think that I would have to mess with my firewall, as long as I am talking of useres on the same computer, but I guess I was wrong.
Your advice helps very much, but only as long as I am still logged in with my user name. I does not work when only my kids are logged in. There has to be a way to use these libraries without the need to log in the user that has created those folders...
    Hmmm
    Thanx for your help

  • How do I share my playlists with other accounts/users on my Mac?

How do I share my playlists with other accounts/users on my Mac?

    Hello,
I have a similar question, which I posted 8perhaps inappropriately) in the Home Sharing discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/17405588#17405588
The problem I have is that it simply doesn't work and the question I have is how you do not move the the iTunes Library file or the iTunes Library.xml file when they are actually in the folder you are told by the article to move in the first place.

  • How can i share a video via email?

how can i share a video from iMovie 09 (8.0.6) via email?

So it was your mail server limitations.  Well, as I said, that's what these media sharing services are for.
It depends on the service, but generally up to about 1GB can be uploaded for free.  You are given a unique and private url of the upload which you give to people who you want to allow to download it.  They can then download the file you uploaded (again for free).
When you do the upload you are also given instructions on how to delete your upload if you wish.  It's usually another url.  Then you can delete it later if you wish or just leave up there as long as you want.
The only restrictions on using these services for free (other than the max file size) is that most will throttle down the download speed and limit how soon you could do two downloads back to back.  Also they ask for a capcha.  Basically they try to be as annoying as possible to make you pay them for their service.
By the way, IMO, rapidshare is one of the most annoying of them all.
I am not familiar with the one Matt Clifton is recommending.  It's probably is as good as any to choose.  As I said there are hundreds of them.  All have a similar paradigm (free vs. paid).  Google something like "sites like rapidshare" and you tons of them.

  • Best way to share a video with someone in another city...

What is the best way to share a video with someone in another city?
I know that FCPX contains all sorts of share options which create different resolutions and file sizes appropriate for different sites like YouTube, Facebook, and others.  But how to create the videos really isn't the problem.
I want to know how to share them.  I'm creating videos that are ultimately to be viewed on the internet.  When I have a completed video, I want to show it to the person who it is for before I finalize it.  I know that if it very small, I could email it.  And if it's larger, I could use something like Dropbox.  But I don't necessarily want them to have a copy of it (though I could do that and put a watermark on it).
I'd like to upload it to a site like YouTube or Vimeo, but those sites seem to be about sharing videos with a wide audience.  I know you can make a video private on YouTube, but, from what I've read, they permanently have the right to use the content, which I definitely don't want.
So what's the best way to do this?  I'm going to have to do it regularly, so I'm willing to pay for a service if it assures privacy and does not try to assert some right to my content.
I know there is an issue to be considered with people screen capturing content, but I'll use a watermark to lessen the chances of that.

    Hi Russ--
I'll have to read through Vimeo's terms of service, but I have to think they're asserting some right to the content like YouTube does.
Plus, these are commercial videos, and I don't think they allow that.  Of course, if they're private, I'm obviously not trying to sell anything.  But I have to think that it somehow is against their TOS since me posting a bunch of private videos that nobody can see really doesn't do them any good at all.

  • How do I get home video clips from iMovie Mac to iMovie iPad?  Surely there is some degree of cross-compatibility?  I have a load of clips in iMovie on my MBP that I wanna download to my iPad2 so that I can edit movies on the move.  Any ideas?

How do I get home video clips from iMovie Mac to iMovie iPad?  Surely there is some degree of cross-compatibility?  I have a load of clips in iMovie on my MBP that I wanna download to my iPad2 so that I can edit movies on the move.  Any ideas?  (The clips are in a .mov format, they have been imported / converted into this format in iMovie, original files were from a JVC camcorder in some other strange format.)

I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places.  I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file.  There must be something else that's missing.  My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive.  If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess.  I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={  Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period.  I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive.  Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me).  As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!"

  • How do I share multiple contacts with another iPhone?

How do I share multiple contacts with another iPhone? Thanks in advance.

    What do you mean share?
It is not possible to send contacts from one iPhone to another without installing an app that would support this.  Bump is one such app.
There is no functionality in iOS to do this.  iCloud can share contacts across multiple iDevices, but it would be ALL contacts, just just a few.

  • How can I create a video with effects using my ipad?

How can I create a video with effects (sepia, B&W, Negative, oval or any other shape borders) using my ipad?  I would Like to keep a higher res and also be able to shrink it down to email or send in a MMS. Or should I just upload it to my PC and mess with it there? Some of the apps I have are very easy to use compared to the learning curve needed for video editing software.
    Thanks

Thats the Problem . . . how many apps do I have to try until I find the one I want? I noticed a few will render the video thus losing its original size. When I went to edit it more in iMovie the video was smaller--not good. And what software do you suggest, Templeton, for the PC? I love the apps because they are easy. I dont have hours to mess around on a software to figure out if its something I want. Im looking for simplicity. Maybe Ill get more into it later. I just want to record simple video of my playing the guitar for self analysis and create a short video for family and friends.
    Apps:
    iMovie
    CinemaFXV
    VideoFix
    Cartoonatic
    Video illusion
    VidEditor
    Software:
Windows Movie maker (wont accept .mov files)
After Effects (Too little time, so much to learn)
Wondershare (Very easy but little choices)
    VideoPad (Again. Few choices)

  • How do I share pictures, videos, and songs between 2 iPhones on 1 iMac?

How do I share pictures, videos, and songs between 2 iPhones on 1 iMac? My wife and I shoot pictures and video at the same event and want to share them in 1 iPhoto event. We have music that we want to share and load onto our respective iPhones. And we DON'T want to muddle our contacts, apps, or other goodies.
I tried to set up a shared folder for the pictures, and set us a login for each of us. I must have missed a step or two because it didn't work.
Please spell it out. Please provide the steps and check marks, or a link to an Apple Support doc that makes it easy.
    Thanks,
