How do use home sharing to import items from other iTunes library?
Okay - the help section in iTunes is not helpful. I am trying to import items from my girlfriend's library and vice versa. We have home sharing turned on. I can see her library and she can see mine. According to the HELP section, I should be able to choose a cateogry i.e. MUSIC. Then there is supposed to be a "Show" menu at the bottom of the iTunes window and I should choose "items not in my library" then select the items I want to import and click import.
PROBLEM: I can choose a category but there is no SHOW Menu at the bottom of the iTunes window which allows me to select items and import them into my library.
Suggestions???
Well I guess I am not sure now that you asked.
In ITunes - under "Preferences" I have Sharing turned on so it says sharing my library on local network.
AND
In ITunes - under "File" I have Home Sharing turned on.

How to import items from another iTunes library?
I have have home movies in my iTunes on my iMac which my wife wants to import into iTunes on her Macbook. Both macs have Home Sharing turned on. She has my library showing under Shared in her iTunes and she can see my entire library. She selects the item she wants to import but there is no way to import it. It cannot be dragged and there is no Show menu at the bottom of the iTunes window as iTunes Help says there should be.
She is using OSX 10.6.8 and I'm using 10.7.2. We both are using iTunes 10.5.
Please explain how to do this import.Here is a screen shot of what you should be seeing once Home Sharing is turned on and the remote shared library is select.
On the left-hand sidebar you should be seeing the remote iTunes Library with the house icon under the Shred category. When you select it, all the media from the remote shared library should be listed in the main iTunes windows. Along the bottom you should see the 'Show:' pull-down menu on the left side and the 'Settings…' and 'Import' buttons on the right side. -
Can't figure out how to use home sharing
Since the latest couple iTunes updates, my family and I can not figure out how to use home sharing. Everyone in our household has their own iTunes, and for a long time we would just share our music through home sharing. But with the updates, so much has changed that we can no longer figure out how to use it.
I have a lot of purchased albums on another laptop in the house, that im trying to move it all over to my own iTunes, and I have spent a long time searching the internet, and everything. And I just can't figure out how to do it. So.... how does it work now? I would really like to get these albums from my moms iTunes, onto mine. I would hate to have to buy them all over again.
If anyone is able to help me out here, that would be great! Thanks!The problem im having is that after I am in another library through home sharing, I can't figure out how to select an album and import it to my library. They used to have it set up so that you just highlight all of the songs you want, and then all you had to do was click import. Now I don't even see an import button, or anything else like it. So im lost... I don't know if it's something im doing wrong, or if our home sharing system just isn't working properly.

When I click on the Music tab on my Apple TV 2, a message tells me I have to set up iTunes Match to stream music from my iTunes library on my iMac. I don't want to set up and pay for iTunes Match. How can I get back to the pre-Match system which let me just use home sharing to stream music from computer to Aple TV
Ditto.
You need to look for your itunes library under Computers and select it, then music.
Music column is for web based content not local content, just to confuse everyone.

Since a recent Itunes upgrade I've lost the settings facility in home sharing to import tracks not in my library. When I check for updates I'm running the latest version. Any ideas how to resolve this?
Sadly, the iPhone 3G can not be upgraded beyond iOS 4.2.1.

Why do you want or need to use home sharing?
Simply copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the existing computer to the new computer and launch iTunes. Everything will be exactly as it was on the old computer. -

Apparently so (as long as each user operates out of a different Mac User account).
After setting up home sharing in the various different user accounts on the Mac, you need to have iTunes open in the account that you want to Home Share from.
Now use fast User Switching to get into the account that you want to Home Share to. Launch iTunes in there. The library in the other account should appear as shared for you. -

On my home computer, when I transfer from my iTunes library to the iTunes store I'm presented with a blank window. The tool bar is present and functional but regardless of what I do, the page remains blank. Any ideas?
