  • Messages not working while using Internet sharing from my iMac ... Any troubleshooting tips/approaches ?

I am connecting to the internet using the Internet Sharing from my iMac ...
The trouble is the messages in the Messages app are not sent when I am connected through my iMac ... When I key in a message and hit send a progress bar appears fills up till 90% and just gets stuck there and after a while the red exclamation mark stating the message was not sent appears ... Now if I connect through my wi-fi router or thether through my phone it works fine ... I can send / recieve messages ...
Similar points to note - Today when I tried to make an App Purchase - The security info screen ( new additon - http://isource.com/2012/04/11/iphone-app-store-security-info-alert/ ) popped up but I got a blank screen for the securtiy questions screen ... It was not loading the screen ... Some games the game center invite does not work through my Internet sharing (tried in MetalStorm) ... but works fine thorough wi-fi or thether ...
What could be the problem with my iMac s sharing? Any suggestions would be really useful ///  Thanx in advance
I am running Lion ... and I have updated to the latest Airport software ...
Only thing I tried was changing the DNS ... but that s not related right ?

Powerline adapters use your home powerlines (mains a/c) to connect your devices via ethernet to your modem, they're easy to set up and the they TOTALLY fixed my ATV problem, the problem seems to be with the wireless. I've been trawling through apple discussions, and did found a workaround to my problem https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4222883?start=0&tstart=0
but its just a workaround :/

  • How do you access files on iPad

The hp print control app saved a scan on my iPad. It didn't show up in photos. Wondering how to access this and place it in my photos. Is there an app to access your files on iPad?

If it's not in Photos app, have you looked in the hp print control app?  If not, google the hp app for a user manual or help on how it works.
Apps generally cannot access "files" on an iPad - unlike a computer, each data file is associated with an app and only that app can access it (and then "send" it to another app, if that capability is part of the original app).  There isn't a "file manager" than can look around an iPad to view all files.  iOS is a closed system that takes security more seriously than computer operating systems.

  • How do I use internet sharing from my MacBook Pro (static IP, only one DNS server) to my iPod Touch?

    Hey,
I'm connecting to the net using an Ethernet cable to my MacBook with the following network settings.
    IP Address: 192.168.y.{0-250}
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.y.x (where 'y' is the same number as in the IP address)
    DNS Server: 192.168.99.3
Apologies if I'm being unclear; not sure how much information it's OK to share publicly.
I then turn on Airport and Internet Sharing, and look for my wireless network with my 4th generation iPod Touch. However, the network appears erratically. I sometimes have to wait for a minute or two and keep refreshing before it appears on my iTouch. When I try to connect it just says 'Failed to connect to the network'.
I've followed all the steps in this article with several variations to no avail.

Can anyone suggest a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been banging my head against this for days.

On the advice of a friend I installed and ran a program on my MacBook called 'IPSecuritas'. This has stopped my wireless network from appearing and disappearing, but I still can't connect. Would really appreciate some help with this.

  • How do you properly set up a home network with multiple devices?  I have a macbook pro, an iMac, and several other phones, tablets, roku devices, etc.  Everything works properly except for when I try to access the other computer through the network.

I have an iMac and a macbook pro that I used to be able to share files between but ever since I moved 3 months ago I can't get it to work.  Also, now my phone and my wife's phone are inseparably connected.  She seems to be getting all of my text messages but I don't get hers.  We also bought new computers right before we moved so that might have something to do with it.  Both computers are on my account and have my name.  Thanks in advance, it would be nice to get this working again - tired of walking ten feet with a flash drive to share files  : )

  • How do you access a machine connected to network via internet sharing?

I have a G5 which shares its airport connection via its ethernet connection with an iMac. Now I'd like to access the iMac from a MacBook Pro which has a wireless connection. Is this at all possible? Right now the G5 and iMac know about each other as do the MacBook and iMac. But the iMac and MacBook don't seem to have a connection. Do I have to do something on the G5 so the iMac and MacBook are known to each other?

Well it seems I missed the response when it occurred. Need to check my notification settings. Any way, to answer and summarize:
    1. Yes the G5 had a wireless connection to an Airport.
    2. The G5 was connected via an ethernet cable to the iMac
    3. I worded the connections wrong. I meant to say the g5 and macbook know about each other as do the g5 and iMac. But not the macbook and iMac. Know about each other in the sense that they could be references like g5.local or imac.local.
    4. I couldn't get the macbook to find a route to the imac through the g5.
In the end I decided what I was doing was stupid, and just put the iMac back on the wireless network so it was universally visible.

  • Internet sharing from Ethernet to Airport Wi-Fi (how to turn off broadcast)

I'm using "Internet Sharing" from Preferences / Sharing / Internet Sharing, to share my connection from Ethernet to "computers using" Airport. I'm wondering if there's a way to turn off broadcasting of the wireless name.

Just found this old thread asking the same question, though the question itself was never answered within it.

You would need to have home sharing enabled on Apple TV and iTunes.

They would be accessed by going to the Computers icon on Apple TV. . Your computer would need to be on and running iTunes.

Format the external drive as FAT32 or ExFAT. Both computers will then be able to read and write to it.
