How do you add a video clip to a slide show using elements 12?

You can import some very short video clips into Photoshop and make gifs. I can import short (10 second or so) .mvi video clips I've taken with my point and shoot camera.
Use File ->Import->Video Frames to Layers
CS3 doesn't recognize .mvi files until you enter *.* in the box, hit load, then find the file you want.
After the file has been loaded, go to Windows, and check Animation.
After the Animation bar loads, go to the right side arrow, check Make Frames from Layers.
Then Save for Web and Devices, and you've got your gif.
I find it much easier to use the separate software.

Thanks Mark - That worked. By the way, in case there are any other rookies out there trying to create a multicam sequence like this, make sure that you 1) create the MultiCam Source Sequence and then 2) right click on the Multicam sequence icon in the project window and then 3) choose open in timeline.
Once the project is open, verify that the camera views are sync'd and then drag the follow on video clips to the end of the appropriate video track. Once that is done, right click on the Multicam icon again and choose New Sequence from clip and your complete project will be ready to edit.

after choosing the manually manage your songs you will not be able to add videos by clicking "update". all you going to do.. after converting videos compatible to ipod video, click your ipod on the left portion of the i tunes it will immediately show your songs from your ipod then drag the selected video from its folder to your i tunes just like adding songs to your ipod

Do you mean get 55 minutes of real time footage to show in only 55 seconds?
One way that might work but it will take a fair bit of work in multiple repeated steps.
Select all the footage on the timeline and then use the Turtle/Rabbit slider to speed it all up to the maximum speed allowed. This of course won't be any where close to 55 seconds.
BUT... export your movie back out to video tape or to a full quality DV format quicktime file. This speeded up version becomes "normal" time. Now reimport to iMovies. Since this is now normal speed as far as iMovie is concerned, you can again use the slider to speed the whole thing up to the max.
Now just repeat as often as needed to get it as fast as you want. Export back out, reimport, adjust speed, export, import, adjust, etc.

I have a banner for a web page that measures 800 x 200 pixels. I would like to create a slide show in the whole volume but I have been unable to discover where to change the standard size of the slide show window to 800x200 in Elements 8. Can anyone help?

you described and then attempted to create a slideshow in Slideshow editor.
I get a good horizontal fit in the slide frame but there are black bars top
and bottom since the frame is more than 200 pix high. My question really is

In the slideshow editor interface click once on your image in the main
window - you will see a bounding box appear together with editing options.
Click on the More Editing button and when your image opens in full edit
select the crop tool.
Set width to 800 px and height to 200 px and resolution to 72
Drag out your crop rectangle and move your image to the position you want -
this avoids image distortion but you will sacrifice parts of the original to
create a banner.
Press Ctrl=S to save and check version set to save an edit without affecting
the original.
Press Ctrl+W to close and your cropped image should automatically pop up in
the slideshow editor.

This would save me having to run them through iMovie at 4X say and saving them that way. As far as I can see, the video fast forward, fast reverse, go to end, go to beginning controls only appear in the Widget inspector. What is their purpose then?

First just drag the clip and drop it onto the slideshow title in the left hand pane. The you can postiion it where you want in the slideshow itself.

I recently got a MAC BOOK PRO! The newest version and I make beauty videos, so I need to edit my videos, how do you do voice overs on Imovie? It doesnt give me an option to do a voice over. And how do you have a video going and then in the corner have another one going? I Have the IMOVIE app on my phone and I know how to do all of that but it doesnt let me do it on my laptop. Its sort of a wierd question but basically to me imovie09 is a bust since i cant really see a real timeline to edit my project. But what im trying to do is after i edited my video and the song i have ends i want to add another clip after the song but without the song playing. Everytime i add a clip it either goes to the top of my project or just adds it to the song. basically what im tryign to ask is, how do i add a clip after a song?

if you ADD audio/music/voice over to a project, there are TWO options.
#1:
you drag it into the (grey) background of your Project - and it becomes a background track with its own 'behaviour': it will try to background the WHOLE Project as much as possible. as long there's audio left, any added video/still will lengthen the audio.
#2:
drag audio ONTO a clip .... it gets connected PLUS it offers the usual options any clip offers; copy/pasting, cutting, fading, effects. here, I added a fade and the last video-clip is audio-less.

or... you can command click to select all the clips you want to apply the effect to, then double click the effect in the Effects browser. (PS - you can't simply drag and drop an effect on multiple clip selections, the effect will only be applied to the clip you drop it on -- but double clicking the effect will apply it to all selected clips at once.)

How do you make one video clip constantly switch colors?

I am trying to make it that one video clip switches from one color then to another color then to another? I also don't want to break up the clip into multiple clips then just change the color on each sub clip because when I tried that, it wouldn't load well in playback because there were so many effects in a couple of seconds. When you say 'switch from one color then to another color' do you mean you want the clip to show in shades of a single colour ranging from black to your colour and for that colour to change, or that you want the colours of the image to cycle so that red becomes blue, yellow becomes green and blue becomes red?
If it is the 'shades of a single colour' you want, apply the 'Cast' effect from the 'Looks' section of the effects palette and use keyframes to animate the Midtones parameter.
If you want to colour cycle, apply my free 'Gradient Colorize a4d' effect, edit the colours in the gradient and keyframe the 'Offset' parameter which cycles the gradient colours through the image. If you're interested I could create a free effect that could cycle through the colours in a gradient automatically.
