That is correct.
Copy everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old computer, to the new one, then sync.

How do you backup your ipod to a new computer?
I just got a new computer and hooked my Ipod up to it thinking I could readily back it up to my computer. I keep getting a message that it's already linked to another computer - that would be the dead computer.
Is there any way to easily make this transfer. Almost 100% of my music is from my CD collection and I really do not want to have to load them again.

How do you search your iPod in the new iTunes?
how do you search your iPod in the new iTunes?
When you plug in your iPod, this button pops up next to the "iTunes Store" button. But you click on word iPod & not that arrow next to it cause that will eject the iPod from iTunes.

How do you get your acct in a new computer if you already reached the 5 computer limit. I don't have 5 computers?
Carmen,
If possible, deauthorize any computers you still have physical access to that you know you had previously authorized to play your iTunes purchases. Otherwise, you can always use the Deauthorize All option described in this article.

How do you add your ipod & itunes to a 2nd computer?
I've downloaded the itunes software, but when I hook my ipod to the computer, I get a message saying my ipod is already synched to another library and my library won't show up on my new computer. Any thoughts on this? Much obliged!
You should be able to get the purchases off your iPhone - just authorize the new mac first

No direct email that I know of, lots of pages with "contact us" links, though.
Or this main page

Your new MacBook is hardware, though, and you should be able to use some support calls for that. Just google "Apple phone number" -
How do you transfer your stuff to a new computer?
so i want to sync my tv shows and stuff to my new laptop. i tried "transfer purchases", but it just doesn't do anything. my friend told me to click on manage manually or something so i did but i still don't get it. help?
Are you trying to transfer from an iPod? Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation, also it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
iGadget Windows Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
TuneJack Windows Only
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. -
How do you put your songs onto a new computer?
My brother and I just got new laptops, and we want to take our library from our home computer onto our own computers. The thing is, I'm not sure if I plug my iPod into my laptop, the songs might erase and just dissapear. How do I take our library from our home computer and put them onto 2 authorized laptops without erasing them from our iPods or the home comp?
Copy the songs onto an external hard drive or a USB flash drive. From their copy them to each new computer. Once they are there, add them to the library on each new computer. If the music contains any "protected" files from the iTunes Store, authorize each laptop to the account(s) from which the songs were originally purchased.

How can you get your iPod touch open when you forgot the password and its disabled and not connected to the Internet Connection and you don't want to reset it.
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -
How do you get your iPod to sync again?
My 4th gen ipod was syncing just fine a few days ago, but today when I went to sync it, it would search for tracks to sync and find no songs needed even though my itunes library has 298 songs and my ipod has on 210. Please someone help me, I'd apreciate it!
