How do you animate a montage ?

The montage below is created from stacked jpeg images. I would like to animate the montage starting with a blank canvas with the images come in from the side one by one to settle in their places all with a musical background. I have Photoshop and Premier Elements. Any suggestions on how this can be done?

Thanks for pointing out the method in Premier Elements. A quick run through
was quite successful so I think I can get what I want with a bit more
manipulation of the various layers.
Again many thanks
Al
Sorry that it just did not sink in, as both you and others have mentioned
that you already have PrElements 8 - Duh!
PrE 8 will do just what you want. Now, I do feel that Motion>Position
Keyframes (to animate your elements) is easier in PrPro, AND PrPro will
allow one to Import a Layered PS PSD, and retain the Layers, BUT PrE 8 can
do the work. The difference there would be that you would want to Save each
Layer as a separate PSD with Transparency. Then, Import each into PrE, and
animate them to suit.
There is a good PrE Forum:
http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements There are many threads
on Keyframing for Motion>Position and other uses of Keyframing, also.
Also, the MOD of that forum, Steve Grisetti, has done a nice series of basic
Keyframing tips at
http://muvipix.com/products.php?searchphrase=keyframing&btn.x=13&btn.y=4.
The one drawback is that those articles (and a whole lot more) are free to
subscribers to the site - only. Muvipix is a multi-tier site, with a very
active forum. That is totally free. When one signs up (also free), more is
available at not charge, including original music, motion backgrounds, etc.,
and then much of that additional content is available for a price to
download., then there is the subscription, where everything is free to
download. If one does just a few of the paid downloads, it doesn't take
long, before the price of a subscription is offset. Steve Grisetti also has
several great books on PrE (and one on the combo of PSE and PrE), and a
Tips & Tricks book (some sample articles from that are on the site, as
well).
Happy editing,

  • How do you animate writing text (Handwriting)?

i have a graphics tablet and wish you animate writing a title for a production i have completed. When I try to write the text using the brush tool the text writes but as soon as i lift my pen off the tablet the character disappears making it very difficult to see what i am doing.
Anyone know a simple technique to achieve this?
    Thanks.

The reason its disappearing is because by default the paint tool is set up with the 'write on' behaviour. You can change this in the HUD. Its not easy to write fluidly using a tablet, but its certainly possible, and as you can adjust the paths after you finish writing you can always clean up your handwriting after. I suggest doing one word at a time though!
Otherwise, another way (not as sexy, but perhaps more reliable) would be to write on paper, scan in your writing, turn into a B/W Tif file, autotrace in Illustrator, and using the script from Motionsmarts to convert Illustrator paths to Motion Shapes.

  • How do you animate zooming in on particular items in a list?

    Hello,
Does anyone know what the effect would be called (and if Keynote supports it) if you have a numbered list of small text in a slide, and as you click through the slide each line is zoomed? Kind of like the old school OS X dock effect when you hover over each icon, but in this case it would be a list of text. If I can animate some slides in Keynote this way it would be awesome.
Basically, a list in a small font like this:
    1.) Line One
    2.) Line Two
    3.) Line Three
    etc.
And as I click on the slide, each line will be zoomed so the audience can see it much better. As I click, the previous line that was zoomed will go back to the small font - so only one line zoomed at a time.
    Thanks!

There isn't a preset animation for this, but you can create the effect this way:
place each line of text with a small size in individual text boxes, and position
duplicate the text boxes, increase the size of the text, position on top of the other text, format the boxes with the background colour and add the effect;   Build In > Scale

  • How do you animate a title placed over video clip

I have been trying to animate a still title that I have placed over a video clip in expert view.  There is only one line.  I have followed the following which I think I got from the Adobe site:
Create a title with animated text
You can easily apply a preset animation to any still title. Text animation presets quickly and easily
animate the characters in your title so that they fade or pop characters into view, or fly in from the
top or bottom of the screen. For example, using the Fade In By Characters preset instantly makes
each separate character in your title fade into view until the title is complete. To preview an
animation, position the pointer on the Animation tab in the Adjust panel.
    1. Do one of the following:
In the Quick view timeline, select the superimposed clip. In the Monitor panel, click the clip,
and then double-click the title text.
In the Expert view timeline, double-click the title clip.
The Adjust panel changes to display the text options.
    2. In the Adjust panel, select an animation preset under the Animation tab.
    3. Do one of the following to apply the preset to the title:
    Click Apply.
Drag the preset to the Monitor window and drop it on top of the title text
I have had no success no matter what I've tried.  I have a mac.  I would value any suggestions.
    Thanks.

Thanks. But let me clarifiy what I suspect Barb's issue is
    a. not selecting the Text in the Text section of the Titler before applying the animation in Animation section of the Titler.
    or
    b. what I did not yet write, not using Default text since Text Animation does not work with Default crawl or roll
    or
    c. trying to use more than one line of text without the use of special procedures.
(I sort of put this thought aside when I replied since Barb wrote
I have been trying to animate a still title that I have placed over a video clip in expert view.  There is only one line.
I interpreted that as only one line of text was typed in the Titler, not that there were two lines of text types.
But, the answer should be one of the 3. More details from Barb should help us to pin point the problem.
I think it was JohnnyO who first pointed out (your forum at few years back) that you can indeed apply Text Animations to more than one line of text in Premiere Elements Titler, but with the use of special maneuvers. I wrote about this and did a detailed step by step and overview on the matter.

  • How do you animate line drawings?  On the fly.

I know there are many tutorials on paths and animating on paths. However my application is a bit different.
I have a embedded hardware device that we created that, when feed certain input it will output Cartesian coordinates. Since these coords are computed while the device is receiving input there is not way I can "pre compute" a path to animate on.
What I am trying to do is have each line "grow" or "animate" to its new endpoint vs just a jerky instantly drawn line to its new endpoint. Perhaps a better word for this is a gradual "transition". I have the "velocity" of the line being drawn too btw.
You can see a video here of the "jerky" verison:

  • How do you animate a rectangle upon hovering over a PNG using mouseover(file dl)?

I have two sets of PNG images, one is text and the other is the text mask. I have a rectangle on top of the text and under the text mask. I want the rectangle to  glide over the text upon hovering over the text PNG and stop. I have accomplished moving the rectangle, but for some reason when I try to implement mouse-over, the rectangle just plays upon loading, and doesn't react when I move my mouse over it.
I've tried almost all approaches I know, but none have worked.
    Thank you for your help.

You are using netbeans to build your jar. Go to your project properties (right click on the project name and choose properties). Then select "Run" from the tree. You will find a text box "Main Class" there, put the name of the class in there that has your main() method, including full package if you have one. That is WITHOUT the .class extension.
Build your jar, it will be placed in the dist directory of your netbeans project. You can now run it from netbeans itself if you want. If ever you want to run the jar from the command line on your home machine, just navigate to the directory with the jar file and execute this:
java -jar yourjar.jarand you're off. If your runtime environment is propertly setup you can even execute the jar by simply double clicking on it from the windows explorer. No need to change the CLASSPATH variable at all, in fact it is ignored when executing a jarred application.
Also a note: you do not need to reboot your machine when you change an environment property. Simply change them using my computer -> properties -> advanced tab -> environmental variables. If you have any command prompts open, close and reopen them so the properties are updated properly.

  • How do you upload Edge Animate on Adobe CDN?

How do you upload Edge Animate on Adobe CDN?

    Hi Darrell,
I'm using an exciting new software package called www.webflow.com and I asked the following question in a forum:
    Hi,
How would you add this Edge Animate to Webflow? Is it possible?http://html.adobe.com/edge/animate/showcase/interactive-marquee/11
The files are available here: http://html.adobe.com/edge/animate/showcase.html6
Edge Animate gives you a few different option for publishing:
The drop down that you see in the image next to "Chrome Frame Installer" has three options:
    Now Prompt
    iFrame Prompt
    Overlay Prompt
These are the files saved when only "Publish content as static HTML" is checked. See "Publish Settings" image:
Is it possible to add this animation to a Webflow site?
If yes, any suggestions on how would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Todd
    Here's Sergie's reply:
Hi @TStanwood, it's possible, but the only way to do it is if you host your files on Adobe CDN or if you host it on your own server and then display an iframe with the index file in Webflow.
That's the way to do it before we allow for hosting of non-image files on Webflow.
After you have them hosted on your own server you can follow these instructions found on the Adobe forums:http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1166851
You'll have to add this to your head code:
    <!--Adobe Edge Runtime-->
        <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/chrome-frame/1/CFInstall.min.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="Bannerad_edgePreload.js"></script>
        <style>
            .edgeLoad-EDGE-160548878 { visibility:hidden; }
        </style>
    <!--Adobe Edge Runtime End-->
Replace Bannerad_edgePreload.js with the link to your server and the edge js file.
And in the Webflow add a div block with the class EDGE-160548878 and id stage and the .js file should inject your html animation file into this div block.
    <div id="Stage" class="EDGE-160548878">
    </div>
I don't have a server to upload the files to. I really don't even know what any of this means.
I'm wondering how and where I can upload the Edge Animate files to and then link to it by following the instructions above.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Todd

  • How advanced can you animate a character in Flash?

Hello, I learned the bone tool a while back, and i was just wondering can you animate a charachter using advanced AS3? to move hands and facial muscles or even clothing to fall around a charachter as they move? or is there a way to do this using Flash and AS3? because i am interested in doing an advanced flash animation. thanks.

whether it looks choppy or not depends on your frame rate (flash can help) and the amont of change from one frame to the next (not something flash can help you with).
if you have changes like, shape, position, color, rotation, skew etc, flash can animate those without the need for frame-by-frame animation.

  • How do you make an animated gif activate when a corresponding button is selected?

I am working on a DVD menu using Photoshop and Encore. I currently have a map as a background and a gif animation of a radar ping. The radar ping has transparent parts so that it shows up in front of the map it will be placed on. I want the radar ping gif to animate when it is selected, but I cannot make it animate. When I tried to place the animated gif into the DVD, it became a static image with 50 layers, instead of an animation with 50 frames. When I replaced the gif with a static image, it still caused problems because when I made it into one of the button's highlights, the button overlapped the other buttons, causing those to highlight as well.
Summary: Ideally, I want to add various gifs that will activate when the corresponding menu/chapter buttons are selected.
Failing that, I would be happy just to know how to add an animated gif to my DVD menu background.

You have two problems. The first is that an animated gif has no special status in DVD authoring. It is an anmiation. How do you get animations into a DVD project? You import them as movies - either as assets that get puit on timelines, or assets that become part of a motion background.
Yes, Encore has a special feature of making animated thumbnails, but this is  just a fancy way of putting thumbnail-sized bits of video into a video background of a menu.
I think you resolve the animated gif issue if you convert it to a video format Encore understands.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/using/importing-assets.html#supported_file_formats_for_impor t
The second issue is that you want a button highlight to be an animation. Also not part of the DVD spec or what Encore will do. You can fake this, by having a button autoactivate and to go to a different menu that has the animation for that button as part of the background.  You create as many menus as you have buttons with that characteristic.
Note that a mouseover won't autoactivate, so this doesn't work on a  computer the way solme users would like.
Scripting is a way some authoring applications can handle such things, but Encore does not provide scripting.

  • How to create a video montage?

I'm looking for an effects generator (I think) that will facilitate showing multiple videos on the screen at the same time.  I'm trying to show four different causes of an event on screen - I have four videos (for example, fire, water, eart & sky videos).  Nice also if I had colored boxes to make the montage look more artistic.  Thanks if you know!
    Gina

There should have been a second plugin with that divider set called "The Quad X 2"... That version of the dividers contains drop zones which can Auto-align in their individual spaces. That is, when you animate the divider lines, the drop zones will also animate to remain centered. There are other controls to animate the drop zones as well.
Here's the demo video for both:

  • 1- How do I animate a layer? and how do I add the clips that I've edited into the whole video?

I'm super new to this. All I need are some simple instructions to these questions: 1- How do I animate a layer? and how do I add the clips that I've edited into the whole video? I know there's probably something on Adobe's website telling me these things, but I prefer this kind of thing.

Rick has pointed you to a good set of resources. (I may be biased, since I created those resources.)

    1. Load the mousewheel min script via CDN (jquery-mousewheel - cdnjs.com - the missing cdn for javascript and css)  into the Scripts Panel;
    2. Add the provided snippet into your Stage > compositionReady event handler.

  • How do you change the timeline duration in Photoshop CC?

There seems to be 5 second limit on the duration of the timeline in Photoshop version 2014.
How can you extend the duration of the animation? There's a timeline window, but no "animation" window as mentioned in many of the help files.
How do you change the duration in Photoshop  2014?
I'm using Windows 8.1 as my OS.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, but my point was not about the lack of creating animations.
It seems that in Photoshop CC, you cannot change the duration of the timeline unless you click on the end of a clip and drag it out which will then give you more time.  As the original post mentioned, you automatically get a 5 second duration unless you have a video clip that is of longer time.  This all makes sense for videos, I understand that nobody (usually) wants to stretch video.  Video by nature will extend the timeline based on how much footage is present.
Now take an animation scenario where you want to create something from scratch that spans longer than the default 5 seconds.  There is no option!!! No document settings, nothing that will allow you to extend the timeline.  I now have to click and drag each layer clip on the timeline to give it more time for the animation, one by one might I add (you can't even highlight multiple clips and extend them all at once, which is crazy).
So what does this mean?  Well if you create a mockup of something with all of these intricate layers including backgrounds, copy etc. and you only intended to animate a certain piece for say 8 seconds, you'll have to extend each and every single layer clip in the timeline otherwise they will magically disappear and the only thing displaying is that which you have extended manually.
The reason why you need a document settings in the timeline is to prevent content from disappearing if something extends for a certain amount of time.
Frame by frame animations only allow for so much functionality, try to animate multiple objects at once with frames and go back and make a change to one part...
CS5 would simply show everything regardless if they did nothing on the timeline, it allowed you to see all of your elements present.
Again, I stand by my statement saying that the new timeline is flawed.
