How do you apply the same password policy to every PDF document you create with inDesign?

Adobe peeps!,
I don't know if this is really supported with inDesign 5.5, but here is my my use case:
I constantly create more than 10 PDFs a day using inDesign
On  all PDF's I create, i want to apply password security to protect them
But in order to do so, within inDesign, I am   always forced to go to the "security dialogue" pane to set up the same permission  and passwords over and over again
This gets tiring :/
So what I am hoping to do is  the following:
Like acrobat, I want to create a password policy within inDesign
I want all PDFs created to have such a password policy  be automatically applied
I know acrobat supports something like this (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7d68.w.h tml), but, unless I may have missed something, the Acrobat feature is limited. That is, the help link  does not tell me how to automatically do this with Acrobat either (the link does not explain to me how to "automatically apply the same password security policy to every PDF document I save within the application). I think the only way to do so is via "Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management ES", but for non server users, I am hoping there is another way.
So my questions are:
Is it possible to create password security policies in inDesign?
Is it possible to apply the same password security policy to every PDF i create in inDesign?
If not, can I change default settings within Acrobat ProX to automatically apply a password security policy everytime I save a PDF?
If all fails, do you guys know of any extensions that can support this?
Any help would be great. Thanks!

Bummer. I kinda had a hunch at this inDesign limitation.
I have been aware of the method for setting up of a security policy within Acrobat. While this feature does cut down some of the work involved in creating and applying password policies to pdfs, what I am looking for with Acrobat is to apply the same password policy to every document I save from the app. Automatically. Without having to manualy select a policy.
I think my solution will have to lie in me creating some sort of script to help support this need. I don't think Acrobat Pro X has the capabilities to allow me to tinker with, say, creating a save PDF preset that will allow me to automatically apply a password policy.
PS. I am using acrobat pro x.

    I scanned a 50-page document with an HP 5610xi All-In-One using the software that comes with it: HP Scan Pro. Though the physical document has standard 8.5" x 11" pages, the PDF resulting from scanning has page size set to 35.42 × 48.67 inches (according to Preview's "Tools > Inspector". I want to resize the pages to 8.5" x 11". Shouldn't Preview be able to do that with "Tools > Adjust Size..."? When I try, the menu option is grey so I can't select it.
    I'm using Preview Version 4.2.

    Thanks for the insight; that explains why it's the wrong size. I selected 300dpi scanning (which is the default, actually), but HP Scan Pro evidently created a PDF with 72dpi indicated. I want it fixed because I want to distribute the file to other people and have them able to print or display it without problems.
    I still don't know why Preview won't let me change it, but your question about whether I wanted to print it did lead me to find a workaround: "File > Print" and "Save as PDF..." saved it with the correct page size.

    It is easy to apply the same Adjust settings to multiple photos by using the Copy and Paste in the Adjust pane. Or by using iPhoto Batch Enhancer.
    But can you apply the same crop to multiple photos? I don't see any way to copy a crop. iPhoto Batch Enhancer can do something like it but, being an external editor, it does so on a copy of the photo. I want it on the original photo. (Well, it's not really the original since that one is saved separately in the Library but on the current version).

    Here's how:
    1 - bring up the first photo in the edit window and click on the Crop button or *use the "C" key on the keyboard*.
    2 - set the crop size/ratio in the menu and position the crop window over the photo as needed.
    3 - click the Apply button or *use the Enter key*.
    4 - click on the right arrow in iPhoto or *use the right arrow key on the keyboard* to bring up the next photo.
    5 - click the "C" key to bring up the crop function.
    6 - repeat steps 2 thru 5 for each photo.

    If you`re doing it with Actionscript you can pack your
    commands into a
    function.
    Flash itsef does not deliver any macro functionality afaik,
    but you could try some third-party-software like "Auto It"
    (freeware).

    What are you trying to do?. If you simply want to recreate
    the same
    navigational structure across the site then the answer is
    yes. You can
    create a nav structure and place it in each page on your
    site. On each
    page, though, make sure the paths assigned for each link are
    correct.
    If you are looking for a solution in which you create the
    menu one time and
    have all the pages on your site point to that one nav
    structure then you
    should look into server side includes. You can read up on it
    here:
    http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/howto/ssi.html.
    With SSI, you create the
    menu one time and point each page in your site to that one
    particular file.
    Any changes you need to make are only made once and are then
    reflected
    through the entire site.
    You should also consider looking into a menu system that
    automates much of
    the work for you. Project VII has some excellent tools for
    this:

    I am looking at transitioning from Outlook to Thunderbird -- mostly for the Google calendar integration.
    The one thing I am having problems with is the filters. I have multiple email addresses and I would like to be able to apply one filter to all of the email addresses. Ie: I get an email from Bob sent to me on my email address 1 and the email goes to bob's folder. Then I get an email from Bob on my email address 2.
    I would like to have the same rule to be effective for both of my email addresses so if bob uses either email address, the mail goes to bob's folder.
    Right now it appears that I have to create a unique filter if I get email from 'bob' on email address 1 vs email address 2. Am I missing something?

    Nope. Thunderbird's filters are specific to accounts.
    You could set them up in one account, then copy that account's ''msgFilterRules.dat'' file to your other accounts.

    The problem is that I'm doing a wedding slideshow, and 5 seconds is too long for the pictures. To match pictures with the beats, I want to put different lengths on different sections of photos.
    I've selected all of the pictures I want to change, and set the picture duration at 4 seconds. Now however, there is a one second gap inbetween each of the pictures that is now empty. Is there a tool that can now shove everything together?
    (Also, somewhat off topic, but not worth making a new thread on- Is there a video transition effect that is random? I'd like to be able to set the default transition on random so they aren't all the same)
    Sorry I'm kinda clueless about Premiere. I've just recently started using it and it's a little.... Hard to learn on my own. Thanks for everything though!

    I don't believe that there is any network address binding.  The UDP Open VI determines which network card you are using and the UDP read function determines which IP address you pull the data from.  Since you are specifying all of the parameters, it should not carry over after you close a session.  There may be a wait required for the connections to reset.  Are you doing this programmatically, or are you stopping and restarting your VI?  Can you send a screen shot of both of your UDP connections on your block diagram?

    thanks. I'll give some of that a try. I'm assuming I can apply a stroke to all the layers just by selecting them all and then doing Edit > Stroke (I think that's where strok lives, I'm not in front of Photoshop at the moment.) I don't understand "reapply those layers as frames", but I'll see if I can figure it out. Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it.

    I need to add lens flare to all frames at once - but it needs to be applied to the flattened image.  I don't want to have to flatten, click lens flare for each of the 70 frames seperately.

  • How to get exactly the same number of samples every trial

    Hi,
    Here is what I want to do.I would like to show using an numeric indicator the expired time increase from 0 to 2 seconds. At the end of this two second period, I want a second numeric indicator to start incrementing from 0 to 3 seconds. I am using a USB 9237 DAQ. Sampling frequency of 2k Hz, and samples read of 500. So far, here is what I have put together.
    The first problem I have is that the first indicator does not start at 0, it starts at .25. The only data I care about is the data during the 3 seconds of "Full force". For this reason, I multiply my signal by 0 except for during the "Full force" period. The problem I am having is that I am not consistently getting 6000 samples. Sometimes I get 5500. If however, there isn't exactly 4000 frames before the "full force" data, then my average will be off. I only start to write to .tdms when the "Start Trial" button is pressed
    Is there a better way for me to get this 2 seconds then 3 seconds time setup?
    Any help will greatly be appreciated.

    That increments you are seeing are due to DAQ code for sure. If ou are sampling at 2khz and want 500 samples, then it'll take .25 seconds to retrieve those samples. While that retreive is happening, your other code may not execute (depending on data flow) becaue it's waiting for the DAQ samples to be returned. By your description, I would guess that the Elapsed time VI is being read after you get your samples, which would be why you don't start at 0 seconds. Try fixing your data flow so that the elapsed time is read first.

    The only safe way of doing it is by using the Redaction tool. You can do it manually, or you can use the Search and Remove Text function.
    Of course, for the latter you'll have to first run Recognize Text on the file to convert the scanned text into "real" text.
    You can find the Redaction tools under Tools - Protection.

    To combine more than 12 files into a single PDF file:
    1. Combine file 1 to file 12 then name it (combined 1 for example)
    2. Combine file 13 to file 24 then name it (combined 2 for example)

    How can I automate the justification of paragraphs in a pdf document?
    For example: I have a pdf document as output from a reporting application, containing many left-justified paragraphs.
    I would like all of these paragraphs to be fully justified.
    I can perform the task manually using the new Content Editing tools in Adobe Acrobat XI, but I need to automate the task.

    Sorry, no. 'Actions' in Acrobat are collections of tool presets (things chosen from a menu or set on a dialog box) - they cannot record mouse or keystrokes and cannot select page content.
    Acrobat's ETI tool is intended for minor corrections; PDFs are simply not structured to allow large-scale reformatting. If the original application can't deliver, you may find it simpler to export the PDF into an editable format (Word DOCX, etc) and make the changes there.
