How do you batch edit still photos with panning/zooming effect in FCP X?

Hi,
I was making a slideshow with a lot of photos.  I had to manually add two keyframes in each photo (one in the beginning and one at the end), and then manually adjusted the scale/position for each photo so they pan/zoom during the slideshow.
Is it possible to accomplish the samething with multiple photos in a batch?  It would sure save a lot of time.  Thanks.
Regards,
Nelson

Build the effect that you want on one photo.
Right click that photo on the Timeline and choose Copy.
Select the other photos that you want to have the same effect.
Right click one of them and choose Paste Attributes.
In the Attributes dialog, place a check mark next to those you want. In the case of the effect described in your post, that would be Motion Attributes. If you had also included Filter effects such as color correction, you would check those too.

  • How do you drop a still photo into a video?

how do you drop a still photo into a video -- while continuing the audio track unchanded?

by popular demand, Kelli Applies Lip Liner to Audrey's Lips has been completely re-mastered. (ok, it was just one person who asked, but she's a very intelligent and articulate observer of such matters.  she noted that the clip suggests "interesting possibilities", but that men probably would be unaware of that.  i explained that "men are pretty simple, so we don't see too many moves ahead."  she laughed.)
i believe that in an earlier post i indicated that in the re-mastered version i would delete the in-camera audio and dub in the audio from the Zoom H4n audio recorder.  this i did.
(syncing the video and audio continues to be a nightmare, though ).
besides signifcantly improving the sound quality, using a separately recorded audio source allowed me to drop (2) still photos into the video track, and still preserve the continuity of the recorded conversation.
dropping in the stills the correct way (unlike in the first re-mastered video) was easier than i thought it would be.  it's just a matter of dragging the Premiere Elements 7's red vertical timeline-cursor to the point on the timeline where you want the insert to begin, and then dragging and dropping the still photo alongside the red cursor.  the amount of time the still will appear can be shortened or lengthened by dragging with the mouse -- the same way any other file can be extended or contracted.
the video coming out from the still was now running behind the soundtrack.  but, the timeline shows the exact duration of the still, so the video coming out was shortened with the mouse by that same duration, and then the audio and video were back in sync.
to add the "sound effect" of the camera's shutter clicking (actually its mirror slapping) before each still appears, i found a point on the audio recording that had the click of my camera actually taking a still, and that had only a little audio from the models underneath it.  removing all the audio before and after the sound of the camera click was, again, just a matter of finding the start/stop points i wanted, moving the timeline's red cursor to those points, and using the mouse to drag the ends of the audio file alongside the cursor.
because i wanted the sound of the camera click to merge with the converation anyway, i just put the audio file of the click on its own audio track (which allowed me to separately control its volume).
however, when i tried to copy and paste the audio file of the camera click to the beginning of the second still photo, i was not able to copy and paste by the normal method of using the mouse to right-click-file/left-click-"copy"/left-click-"paste".  eventually, i tried doing so by clicking on "edit" on the menu bar at the upper left and then clicking on "copy" and "paste", and there was no problem.  (go figure.)
as with the other re-mastered video, i brightened, increased contrast, made the hue a bit warmer, and added a little sharpening.  (this has to be done individually for each separate video file that makes up the whole piece -- at least that's what i did.)
interestingly, the audio level can be tweaked directly on the timeline by using the mouse to drag up or down a horizontal yellow line running the length of the audio file.
i again rendered in Adobe Flash Video (.flv).  (annoyingly, in XP at least, there's a default download destination that has to be reset everytime you want to save in a different location).  from a drop-down menu i selected "NTSC Flash Video 700k" (just in case) and left the file name as "Untitled" (since no matter what i change it to, it saves as "untitled.flv", so i have to rename it anyway once it's saved).
i went into "Advanced..." and, to preserve the dimensions and the HD, i unchecked "Resize Video", chose "Same as source" for the frame rate, and checked 2 "Encoding Passes" (just in case).
for some reason, everytime i click the "save" button, it asks what i want to call these settings.  if i use the name i used for the same settings on the previous go-round, it says that that name is already used and (impliedly) can't be used again.  so, i add the new date, and yet another name for the same settings gets added to the drop-down menu (odd).
once the compressed .flv file was saved, it was an easy upload to youtube.
btw, it seems that the Elements 7's Audio Mix defaults to 0 dB, OR whatever the setting was in the prior saved version, unless i use the mouse to continuously "ride the slider pot".  that's ok for a 48-second video, but does anyone know of a way the dB can be set so that it just sits there, instead of moving back to where it previously was

  • Editing a photo with the zoom feature

How can you just back up photos with Time Machine. 2000 of them

I am a photographer and trying to backup my photos. I would be using Seagate Backup Plus USB 3.0 , 1TB.
I am very computer illeriate so please dumb it down so I understand.
Hook up the Seagate drive (don't use their software) to the Mac and a TimeMachine window should appear, click yes and let it work for hours until completed. Hook up occassionally and it will backup your entire boot drive.
If you need to format the drive, open Disk Utiltiy in your Applications > Utilities folder, click on your new drive on the left and Partition, 1, Option GUID and OS X Extended Journaled as the format and click apply.
You should get another external drive, this will be your storage drive for a duplicate of all your photo's.
Connect it to the Mac, format it the same way as above, then you need to drag and drop your photo's to it.
If your photo's are in iPhoto, then inside your Pictures folder is a iPhoto Library, drag and drop it onto the icon of the external storage drive every time you want to make a backup.
The first time you drag and drop, it will copy it.
The next time you do it, it will ask if you want to replace the iPhoto Library with the new one.
If your sure you want to do this, then say YES.
If you want to make multiple dated backups of the iPhoto Library, double click on the external hard drive icon and it will open into a window.
Use the Finder > New Folder and you can click on the name and change the type to date, then drag the more recent copy of iPhoto Library to that folder.
This way you can have more than one copy of the iPhoto Library on the external storage drive at the same time as they are in folders. This way you can create a archive of dated photo's.
Good Luck, and take a class or have someone teach you about basic OS X user interface.

  • Help how do you save a still frame of video  as a photo?

Help how do you save a still frame of video as a photo? Thanks

A still frame from an Event:
Put cursor at the frame you want, then right click (or command click) and select "Add Still Frame to Project".
The still frame will be added at the end of the Project.
A still frame from a Project:
Put cursor at the frame you want then right-click (or control-click) and select "Add Freeze Frame". The Freeze frame will be added after the clip.
    In both cases:
Select the still frame (so the yellow band is around it).
Right-click (or control-click) and select "Reveal in Finder".
You will see a JPG file highlighted in the finder.
Drag this file and drop it on your iPhoto icon in the Dock.

How do I batch edit photos for contrast, sharpness, etc or permanently change those settings?

There a 3rd party application, iPhoto Batch Enhancer, that can batch enhance, change contrast or crop. That's all.
However, once you establish the adjustments to one photo you can copy it via the Edit menu:
and then move to the next photo with the forward arrow and paste those adjustments in the next photo.

  • How can I put a still photo in to a iMovie tralier  on the iPad 2

How can I put a still photo into a iMovie tralier on a iPad 2

    Here's one way.
You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import.

  • How do I place a still photo over a video?

How do I place a still photo over a video, where the sound keeps steady, but the still photo replaces the videos image for a duration?
I've got one placed and it's working great, but can't remember how I did it.  I've tried everything.  I'm working with iMovie 08'.
It appears like a music item in my project window, a thin blue filled line with the duration in it, just above the video and I can adjust the length of time the still is displayed.  (Just like an audio/sound clip)  The audio is uninterrupted.
Can anyone help me?  Thank you!

    I using [email protected]
I can't figure out how to change my email address in here or if it is possible...

switch-ON the Advanced Tools in iMovie's prefs.
drag your still onto the clip until the cursor gets a Green Plus Sign and choose Cutaway

  • Add still photo with original audio in place

I have an interview with my grandmother that I want to cut away from the DV footage of her talking and show a still image with ken burns effect while the audio continues to play then go back to her talking and still have the audio synced up to her.
In other words, insert an image or video over the original video without touching the audio.
How can I do this in iMovie '08?
    Thanks.

In other words, insert an image or video over the original video without touching the audio.
You can easily overlay a photo in iMovie '08 -- you just can't combine it with a Ken Burns Effect.

Only way to do this is to turn off the video clip audio and split the video clip removing a fixed number of frames. You then add a still image sequence with the same number of frames and apply your KBE as desired. Last step is to "extract" (Command-Shift-Drag) the original audio from the original Event clip and pin it to the beginning of your project video clip. As long as the split video + still sequence have the same number of frames as your extracted audio clip, all should be well.

  • How do you select a single image with the keyboard?

I can use the "/" key to deselecting the current photo but how do I select the current photo with the keyboard? Usually the space bar is used for this but that displays the image. Is the only way to select the current photo by using the mouse?

OK, now that the question has been clarified....
Pressing and holding the Shift key as you move through the grid with the arrow keys will individually multi-select them, but that breaks down if you want non-contiguous selections, i.e. lifting off the shift key to skip a photo will cause all previous selections to be lost when you use the arrow key to advance. I think the only way for non-contiguous selection is ctrl-click.

  • How can I make a still photo from imovie

How can I make a still photo from imovie?

Let's assume you have iMovie 11 (Version 9). (If you have a different version, let me know. The instructions will be different.)
First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then drag this photo into iPhoto.
I have created a short video Tutorial on how to do this. There is one error in the Tutorial, where it says that Command-click is the same as right-click. I should have said Control-click instead.

  • How do i view photos in macbook pro, and while viewing how can i delete the unwanted photos with delete button?

1 My questions are about viewing and managing photos from a folder.
    a. How do i view photos in macbook pro - i know the space bar thingy but does not help my purpose?
    b. While viewing how can i delete the unwanted photos with delete button?
    c. How can i increase the size of the photos that i am seeing in the form of icons?

double clicking in iPhoto will open the photo.
The left and right arrow key will move between photos, as well as swiping on a trackpad or Apple mouse.
See >System Preference>Trackpad or mouse  for options and tut
While selected or in the smaller icon view hitting the Delete key will delete the pic.
Command Z will undo the last action taken.
Periodically you have to empty the iPhoto trash.  iPhoto drop down menu>empty trash
Same applies for viewing pics in a Folder NOT in iphoto,  Use the up and down arrows does not work in Preview, but as you know in QuickLook (spacebar) the up and down arrows will navigate.

How do I creat a still photo from a video in the new iMovie?

I'll assume you want to create a still to use outside FCPX, not a still frame within FCPX.  It's kinda hidden in the "share."  Go File/Share/Add Destination.  You want "Save Current Frame."  After you've created that destination, it'll be there for you in the future under Share.

How do you view lyrics on itouch with the new Jan. software update??
    Thanks!!

    1) You need to have the paid upgrade installed.
    2) You need to paste the lyrics into the lyrics tab of a song/album.
    3) You need to re-sync the Touch.
    4) When playing music, you click on the album cover (in portrait mode only) and the lyrics will superimpose on the screen.
