How do you boot from a Windows CD (Ghost in this case) in Boot Camp ?
I installed Bootcamp about a year ago. I used Norton's Ghost to make a disk image of my C: drive in Bootcamp for a backup. My machine is now misbehaving and I want to reinstall my orginal image from Ghost. However, I cannot figure out how to boot from the Ghost CD to begin the process. If I tap f8 or f2 or delete key nothing happens to bring me to that BIOS screen where I can choose which device I want to boot from at start up. Any ideas? Thanks
Hello deacm,
Supposedly you can insert your CD in the drive and, upon restart, (immediately after the chime) hold down the "C" key until the screen shows "Press any key to boot from CD". For some reason, this does not work for me.
If the above step didn't work for you, you can try the following steps that works for me:
1) If you can boot into Windows, insert the CD (close any windows that pop up), go to the Control Panel>Boot Camp and select the CD as the startup drive, then restart. The screen will briefly display "Press any key to boot from CD" (for only a moment) so press any key immediately.
2) If you can't boot into Windows, in Apple's System Preference, select "Startup Disk" and then click on the Windows partition. Close System Preference, insert the CD and (after a couple of minutes when the CD is recognized) restart. Immediately after the chime, hold down the "Option/Alt" key. Select the CD and press "Return". Moments later, the screen should display "Press any key to boot from CD", then press any key.
Good luck,
Gary

How can you use symbols in Windows 7 on a IMac 27
How can you use symbols @$€%£¥ in Windows 7 on a IMac 27 mid 2011? I tried what was normally done on Windows and got nothing. Alt plus numbers and nothing happens, what am I missing?
Frosted Flake,
Are you referring to an equivalent to the Windows Character Map Application (charmap.exe) that allowed you to see the various characters available in each font, and then give you an ALT-nnn number you could key to use the character you wanted ?
If so you can use the Special Characters from the Edit menu of most applications. Once you have located the character/symbol you want double click it and it will be entered wherever you cursor is located in your application.
Further information can be found here :

Hope this helps

How can you upgrade from OS 10.4
How can you upgrade from MAC 10.4.4
Backup your computer.
Buy Snow Leopard.
Boot from Snow Leopard DVD.
Erase the hard drive.
Install Snow Leopard.
To get Snow Leopard:
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
Snow Leopard General Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
2. 1GB of memory
3. 5GB of available disk space
4. DVD drive for installation
5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
fees may apply.
6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
terms apply.
To upgrade further see:
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
Model Identifier 5,1 or later
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Lion System Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
or Xeon processor
2. 2GB of memory
3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
4. 7GB of available space
5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply. -
How to transfer pictures from computer ( Windows 7) to iPad with Retina display ?
How to transfer pictures from computer ( Windows 7) to iPad with Retina display ?
Note that, if you use iTunes to sync photos onto the iPad, you'll need to use iTunes to take them off.
if you don't have a lot and want to keep deletability, you may want to consider mailing them to yourself, or uploading them to something like dropbox, then downloading them (via the dropbox app) to your iPad.
there are also several photo syncing apps out there that may suit your needs. Afraid I don't have any to recommend. But syncing via iTunes isn't the only way to get photos onto your iPad..it's just the built in way -

How do you switch from one iTunes account to another on your apple tv?
Welcome to the Apple community.
I assume you do mean a different account and not simply a different iTunes library. Unfortunately, in order to switch accounts, you would need to log out and log in to the second account. -

First check to be sure your hardware meets the hardware requirements for Lion.
Backup your data. I suggest a bootable clone as the way to go.
Then open App Store and purchase and download the Lion installer.
Then install Lion.
