How do you build SWF play controls?

Hi sorry for the post I know this is probably a well covered topic, but I've been googling all day and everything I find is linked to using buttons with an imported flv; which is not what I want.
I actually am working on 2 different senerios. the first I have a new video that is all keyframe and AS based but I need a way to control it. I've placed a graphic on the timeline then built an invisible button over it the graphic is just a basic play button with a gradient. can some one help me with the code to get the invisible button to play/pause the video from the 2nd key frame? Also I'll need to add a stop button.

on earlier videos I've made but I can't figure out/remember how I got it to work, I'm just getting statement must appear within on handlers errors with this new video.
The second issue I'm having is different. I have a SWF that is already built and I need to control it, so I'm importing the video to the stage with AS code
stage.loadMovie("medialocation/movie.swf");
which is working fine, now I need to create buttons to control it. Shouldn't the code be the same for both files? They are similar, where everything is being controlled after you export the swf's
I have no flv's, avi's or mov's involved just 100% flash

The error message you're getting is indicating (to me) that you are trying to place that code on the button. The code you show for the button goes in the timeline, not on the button. As for the other bit, yes, as long as your swf file is a timeline based animation, then similar code as what you use for the video should be appropriate.

This can be using Msum function in answers. Use the following formula, here dollars is my metric. Change the formula based on your metric.

how are you supposed to play a photo cd on a macbook pro? when i put it in my drive, it says something like disk type not supported when i open up the dvd player. please tell me if theres some kind of software i have to download..please and thank you

when you insert the disk it should be in the side bar of finder. double clickt he disk and you should have some sort of file in it. I'm not sure what softwware was used to create the slideshow but if it's a movie you'll have to figure out what type of media it is. I think VLC media player will be your best bet to play this CD/dvd though.

Thank you, I already have click boxes and buttons on every slide - the slider at the bottom still automatically moves, it doesn't go to next slide until button or box is clicked. I want to stop it moving if possible?
Update: looks like it does the same on the old versions - I'm assuming its the time set to play each slide. I will just even these up so the don't look so inconsistent.

There are only two ways to process form data -
1. Use mailto:[email protected] as the action of the form
2. Use a server-side scripting method to a) harvest the
form's data, b)
process it in some manner, e.g., enter it into a database, c)
formulate and
send an email to one or more email recipients, and d)
redirect the visitor
to some ending page
Method 1 is quite simple, and is also the least reliable. It
depends both
on your visitor having an email client already installed on
their computer -
this eliminates public computers, or home users without email
clients
installed (more and more it seems) - and on the installed
email client
responding to
the mailto call. It is not possible to use this method *and*
send the
visitor to a
thank you page as well.
Method 2 is the preferred method, since it eliminates the
problems of method
1, but it means that you have to grapple with
server-scripting somehow (ASP,
CF, PHP, perl, etc.).
You would have to decide which of these methods is best for
your needs,
but if it's Method 2, then start by asking your host what
they provide for
form
processing.

IPod Playlist on the iPad - How do you make it play?

Is it just me or is the iPod interface on the iPad weird? About all I have been able to do is play albums and songs. How do you play a play list? When I select a play list I can see the songs there, but when I hit the play button it starts playing whatever song I was listing to before I selected the play list. When I try to select one of the songs in the play list (like I would on the iPhone), it wants to drill down to the album and play only those songs. Someone please enlighten me on what I am doing wrong with the play lists. I don’t see anything in the users guide on this.

Well, it is a bit weird, but in order to play a song in a playlist or to just start playing the play list, you need to actually tap on one of the songs in the list, not the play button. The playlist will then start playing at that song. To shuffle the list, with a song playing, tap the album cover image (if it has one, or just the screen if it doesn't) and the controls will appear. The shuffle control is that squiggly arrow thing to the right of the time indicator bar. When it turns blue, shuffle is on. Tap it again to turn shuffle off.

I have the same question as VideoImage. I would like the controls to appear in some of my videos so that the reader can speed them up or slow them down. This would save me having to run them through iMovie at 4X say and saving them that way. How do you create a custom control which has several buttons?

Can you do this in LabView?
I want to make it so that one button will disable or switch the value/state of another. (Think minesweeper). I can create the logic in a subVI, but only if I have access to the property nodes of each of the buttons.
I want the front panel of the main VI to have the buttons on it, and I don't want the buttons to appear in a separate window.
If I place all of the buttons individually on the front panel of the main VI and pass their references to the subVI, I end up with tons and tons of variables in the main VI block diagram. It works but is very very messy.
I tried to create a custom control with a cluster of buttons in it, but I can't seem to get at the individual property nodes. Is it possible?

Hi Jen
Yes it is possible to get the individual property nodes of controls that are in a cluster.
You have a property Controls[] in the property node of the cluster, so you get an array of control references. You just have to extract the single references to access the controls.
I attached a screen-shot, which shows this possibility.

How do you build for 2.x/3.x?

Hi, I got my ad hoc distribution working recently and it made me more aware of the .app file I will give Apple. Can you make one set of binaries that works on iphone os 2.x and 3.x? Is the way you do that to specify iphone Device 3.0 as the target and then don't have anything in your code that won't run on 2.x? Or are most people delivering 2 apps, one that will run on 2.x and one that will run on 3.x? K T mentioned that he had one product that ran on both 2.x and 3.x.

Two targets.... x.x OS versus x.x device.
You build with one (3.x) as the 'Base SDK' (in the Build/Architectures..device) section and another as the 'iPhone Deployment Target (2.2.1), selected in the Build/Deployment (iPhone OS Deployment Target)) section of Xcode 3.2, as an example.
To target the most users, target the newest device.

Help!! How do you build the SWF files?

Hi, I since I am new to Flex & Flex Builder2, I have
tried to recreate an empty swf file, similar to the sample file
"EmptySwf.swf"
However, when I replace the default EmptySwf.swf with mine, I
keep getting: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot
convert flash.display::Sprite@fda2a81 to mx.core.IUIComponent.
Steps to reproduce:
i) I am using Flex Builder 2.0.143459
ii) in the mxml file created when choosing 'Flex Project', I
add the FAbridge information as instructed
<fab:FABridge xmlns:fab="bridge.*" />
(I have also tried using <bridge:FABridge
xmlns:bridge="bridge.*" id="bridgeInst" /> )
iii) Select BuildAll and then copy to the samples folder
(overwriting the original).
iv) The error occurs in the browser.
What gives?
The FA Bridge is supposed to be an easy 'learning curve' to
get into Flex.
This is quickly pushing me away!!!!!

For those others that are new to Flex, I found that creating
an
ActionScript Project in Flex builder to be the way to create
a 'blank' swf file that works.
Note:
- you'll also need to add a library reference:
${FRAMEWORKS}\libs\framework.swc
- you'll still need to add the FABridge reference:
x:\somepath\\FABridge\src
Then, make your main actionscript file look like EmptySwf.as
as shipped with the samples.

How do you fix the ActiveX controls?

When trying to play games in IWin the message comes up and says and beeps that the ActiveX controls isn't working on some level. Do I need to worry about this message? If I do, how do I go about fixing this problem. Do I need to upgrade this control?

How do you disable Shuffle Play

When I select an album to play, the songs are never played in album order (track 1-10 for example), it always plays in random order. How can I disable random to allow playback in track order?

When playing tap center of screen to bring up additional controls (repeat, progress, shuffle, genius) options.
