How do you change an icons desktop picture?

Anybody know how to change the picture of a folder?  I dont like the standard blue folders all over my desktop

Use the Finder's "Get Info" window.
In the upper left corner there is a "preview" (or a generic icon) that you can change with a double click and some copy/paste voodoo.
Find the image you wish to use as the new icon preview and open the get info window. Single click on the icon in the upper left and "copy".
Switch to the folder you wish to change, single click the same icon and Command-v to paste the new picture.

  • How do you change the size of pictures?

    Hello,
I'm a new Mac user. How do you change the size of pictures in iPhoto? Sometimes when sending e-mails, the picture files are extremely large and take a long time to load... Is there any way you can make the picture or file smaller? Like on a PC, you can open the photo in the Paint program and just reduce the size... Is there anything like this for the Mac?
    Thanks!

Assuming that you're accessing your email package from INSIDE iPhoto, you're given a choice of picture sizes. Personally, I've found "medium" to be a good compromise but you might prefer "small" (iPhoto will tell you the file size).
If you don't know what I'm talking about, first go iPhoto Preferences > General and select your email client. Then, go to the View menu and select Show in Toolbar > Email.

  • How Do You Change the Icons / Change Multiple Icons?

I've learned that to change most icons on the Mac is Getting the icon you want to change, and the icon you are changing it with. You select "Get Info" by holding "ctrl" and clicking on each icon. Then You click on the icon on the top left of the "Get Info" window. This highlights the icon, and now you can Copy it. Now you click on the icon in the other info window, and paste the icon on top of the former.
    But
*How Do You Change Icons Such As the Garbage Icon?*
*Is There a Way to Change All Folder Icons At Once?*
i.e. To change the default blue folder icon, to another icon, and make it stick until that preference/setting is reset. And also have it set so the the new icon will appear when I "create a new folder."
    Anything is very much appreciated.

Duplicate the audio once editing is done.  In the Mixer window, apply the Fill Left effect to one audio track, and the Fill Right effect to the other.  Then adjust the mixer appropriately.

    1) download the icons you want to your desktop
    2) right click on the one you want to use and select "copy"
    3) go to the application (in your application folder, NOT the dock) and right click on the application, and select "get info"
    4) a pop up window will open with all this stuff in it. left click on the top icon in the info pop-up window
    5) go to the finder bar (the bar on the top of the desktop) and pull down Edit, then select Paste.
    6) drag the old icon off the dock into the trashcan
    7) drag the new icon from the application folder to the dock

  • How do you change the icons in the dock?

I want to change a few of the default icons (finder, address book) in the dock...how do i go about this?

    Cocktail5555,
I finally figured out how to change the Finder icon. Heres how.
1.) Get your icon that you want for Finder and put it on the desktop. Name it "FinderIcon.icns". Make sure the name is exactly as I wrote it or it won't work (including caps).
2.) Go to: Finder/system/library/coreservices. In coreservices there is a bundle called CoreTypes.bundle. Do a right click on this and open up "package contents". Go to resources.
3.) In there, there is a file called 'FinderIcon.icns' and it has the photo of the finder icon on it. Make a backup of this (just in case it doesn't work) and name it something like "backupfinder".
4.) delete "FinderIcon.icns from Core Types.
5.) Drag your icon from the desktop into the folder (you'll have to authenticate first).
    Then, download this: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/32346
    That is called 'LiteIcon'.
Once that is downloaded, open it up and in the top right-hand corner there is a button called 'relaunch finder'.
    Do so.
If all is right, then VOILA! your finder icon is changed!

  • How Do You Change the Remote Desktop Listening Port in Win 8.1 Pro

I am trying to setup two Win 8.1 Pro computers for Remote Desktop access on my local network. I can get Remote Desktop working fine on both when they are using the default RD port 3389. I am unable to change the listening port on one of the computers so
that I can access either via a public Internet connection. I change the listening port in the Registry, reboot the computer and verify that the port number has been changed BUT the computer still responds to the old port 3389 and can't connect via the new
port number. I added a Firewall rule for the new port, but that did NOT solve the problem.
I have followed the procedure below and verified in the Registry that the port is changed but the Remote Desktop remains accessible only on the default port 3389. The new port number in the Registry is 39699. I used a network scanner and it shows the computer
is still listening on port 3389 for Remote Desktop connections. Why is Win 8.1 Pro ignoring the new port number in the Registry and still responding on 3389? Is there another place in Win 8.1 Pro that the port also needs to be changed. I also added a new rule
in the Firewall to allow incoming requests on port 39699? This is a very frustrating problem, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I followed the procedure shown below.
    Hi ,
Based on my test, we can change the listening port for Remote Desktop.
To change the port that Remote Desktop listens on, follow these steps.
    1.Start Registry Editor.
2.Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber
3.On the Edit menu, click Modify, and then click Decimal.
4.Type the new port number, and then click OK.
    5.Quit Registry Editor.
    6.Restart the computer.
Meanwhile, please note, please type the new integer port number between 1025 and 65535 in the PortNumber text box.
And make sure the new port number is not in use by other application.
We may use the command below to check the result.
    netstat -a
Also, we can use Network Monitor to trace the port.
    Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4
    Regards,

    Hi,
There are two item that should be modified to change the default 3389 port:
One is: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\Wds\rdpwd\Tds\tcp]. Modify  the PortNamber to the one you want.
The other is: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContro1Set\Control\Tenninal Server\WinStations\RDP\Tcp]. Modify the PortNumber to the one you want.
In your case, you missed the first one.

  • Bob, how did you change the icon of your Windows drive?

CandyBar only shows my Macintosh HD in the volumes window.
I am afraid to drag it into CandyBar's volumes window as this might unmount it and cause all sorts of issues.
    Thanks ... Ken

Click the icon (of the Winodws drive) and click '+I', do the same with the icon you would like to replace it with. Click the little icon [that is there when you click '+I' (its really small in the top left corner) on the icon you are going to use to make it for the Windows drive] until there is a blue highlight around it. Once it is, click '+c', now go and switch to the Windows drive & make it highlighted, and then click '+v'. You should see the icon change to the one you replaced it with.
This doesn't make very much sense but I hope it helps =)

  • How do you change the start up picture on the Zen Mi

there is an option for it in the organizer/explorer but its not "clickable". What can i do?

I think it's only available on some players, and not the Micro. Honestly I wouldn't worry about it as the startup pictures get boring pretty quickly

  • How do you change the mail the icon that appears in the top right the header on sent messages or drafts?

    Hello,
When you go to the Drafts or Sent box and select a message, above where the message is displayed is the header where the reciever/sender information is. To the right is an icon(right next to the button that says "hide").  How do you change that icon?
    Much thanks,
    Noremac

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your email, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

  • TS1314 How do you change the default location address (in My Pictures) of the IPOD Photo Cache ?

How do you change the default location address (in my pictures) of the IPOD Photo Cache ?

You do no specifically. It sounds like you are syncing a folder to the iPod. In that case:
From a Folder on Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
The iPod Photo Cache will be located in the folder you selected to sync with.
Thus, you have to change the location of the folder you sync with.

How do you change the dates on your iphoto pictures?

You'd need an app that can edit EXIF data. You can't do that natively on an iPhone but there may be apps in the App Store that will let you do it. Take a look at Snapseed. I think it might.
