I use the address bar to search, instead of the actual search bar field. Why? It's easier. Or, it used to be. It used to use Google. Now it's using Yahoo!. This is unacceptable. Haha. How do I change which search engine is used in the ADDRESS bar?

had this problem after accidentally downloaded the yahoo toolbar along with an adobe product. Firstly, tried to remove it control panel in add/remove programmes but it refused to uninstal. Since then was told by technicians of my ip to use Revo uninstaller the free ed. Next step was go to tools then options. On the general tab, at the bottom you will find manage-add-ons. under search provider do not want. f yahoo is still there disable it.
Also go to internet options in control panel and set up there too. Be sure to find and tick the option that other search engines cannot change yours. Be sure to set the appropriate home page.

I've seen reference to the "My iPhone" local storage put no mention on how you create this folder or access this folder within the Notes app. I realize storing information in a local storage like this provides no syncing between other iDevices but that is exactly what I'm looking for. If you go to Settings > Notes > Default Account you will see "On My iPhone" as the default account and the only choice if you have not enabled syncing Notes in Settings >iCloud or Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. If you have enabled syncing you can still select "On My iPhone" as the default account. When you are in the Notes app you won't see any accounts listed if you have not enabled syncing because they are all in the On My iPhone account and that is the only place possible. It is not a folder that you create.

Note- I am trying to figure out how to create and format tables in the latest version of the Pages app on an iPad air (iOS 8.1.1.1) . Creating tables, adding or removing borders for individual/all cells in a table seems straight forward. However the default border style seems to be a heavy black line. How do I change this?
I found the option add or remove borders for all/ individual cells in a table, however I can't find any option within style/format dialogue screens for changing colour or line thickness for table cells. Likewise I can't find any clear instructions on how to do this in apple help pages or support website
Btw- I'm assuming it is possible to customize/adjust the colour & thickness of selected lines in a table created in this app (it's fairly easy to do this word processing apps like MS Word) please let me know if this is not actually possible in Pages

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

When Firefox 8.0 installed it has automatically changed my address bar default search engine to Yahoo7 which is crap. I can not change this back. So when I start FF it opens to my google home page, when I type a subject and search the results are displayed in a Yahoo 7 results page, not google. I am not talking about my default home page or the search bar to the top right. This is still google.
The settings in about:config do nothing.
This was fine until FF 8.0.

Pernich and I want to know; If you type search criteria directly into the address bar and hit enter, how to change that search engine from Yahoo to Google.
Otherwise I too will go back to using Google Chrome, even though I really like FF8.0

The search engine used to open selections in a new tab. Doesn't do that anymore. How do I get it back?

I prefer Yahoo search. In previous versions of Firefox, the search engine would pull up the list of possible websites. Clicking on the link would open that website in a new page. It doesn't do that anymore. It simply opens the link forcing me to continually go back and forth instead of just being able to close the new tab if it's not what I'm looking for. I am asking this question again, because upon checking the forum for a solution I was shocked and appalled by the severe lack of grammar, punctuation and spelling I encountered while reading answers to this question. Obviously several people where to busy to actually read the question being asked and simply answered with instructions on how to change the default search engine for the search bar. SO, here I am asking the same question, why? because it still has not been answered and I myself still CANNOT find this setting anywhere. I use multiple browsers for different tasks, Chrome is KICKING the .... out of you guys Mozilla, why did you ever let your self get taken in by Micro-crack (Microsoft), if I recall correctly the inception of this program was partly motivated by the need for an alternative to the idiosyncrasies and vulnerability of Microsoft Internet Explore. Hello the search engine drop down arrow has no search engines attached to it so i can't pick a default engine from there and when i go to "Manage Search Engines" the restore default button if shaded and inaccessible. Google also isn't an option when you click "Get more search engines" either, But i can manage to add some websites like You Tube to the search engine list. I also cant search anything on the Firefox homepage bar because there is no search engine connected to it. I can switch the homepage by going to options and typing in Google, but then the Firefox logo goes away and its still no in sync to the search engine bar. I have no recollection of how it disappeared, but Ive been using Firefox for a few years now on various computers and never had an issue I could fix. I'm hoping i don't have to uninstall Firefox and reinstall it because ill have to open internet explore which still gives me Toshiba adds and surveys from my previous computer and has a "22find search engine"... what ever that is?... and I slow internet (130Kbs PEAK!) at the moment so its just all going to be a hassle.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
