How do you connect two line segments in illustrator cs6?

I have been using adobe cs5 for a few years.  If I wanted to connect the corners of two line segments, you would select the first line segment with the select tool, then switch to the direct selection tool, and drag the anchor point to the other line segment anchor point till the cursor arrow went white (signifying the other anchor point being recognized).  Then you would choose "join" and it would give a nice right angle connecting the two line segments.
With adobe cs6, the direct selection tool doesn't change to white when you go over the other line segment anchor point.  Why is this?
(Unfortunately my screen capture doesn't show the black arrowhead that you see when you are dragging with the direct selection tool to the other line segment.)
I have also attached a youtube video link that shows what how this recognition of anchor points looks in adobe illustrator cs5, and this was exactly what I used to do when I was performing the task shown in my screen capture but with adobe illustrator cs5.  Thanks and sorry for the essay!

Anybody have any idea how to remedy the lack of anchor point recognition?

You are welcome, zinders.
Just a comment: you seem to use Butt Cap, so you can really see when line segments are not joined.

  • How do you connect two Apple ID's?

How do you connect two Apple ID's to one another?

Yes. You can sync multipl iDevices on the same computer using the same Apple ID. You can each have different configurations of apps, books, music, etc. or have identical configurations. In this way, however, your common data - contacts, mail, calendar will be the same on both iDevices.
The Apple ID doesn't distinguish one phone from another, only how the phone will sync to a computer. The Apple ID is how iTunes knows to which computer a phone syncs. And, the Apple ID determines who is the registered owner of downloaded and purchased items via iTunes.

  • How do you connect two OSPF autonomous systems?

New member. Pls advise if this post does not belong here. Cheers.
You have two entirely separate OSPF systems. You wish to share routing
information between the two systems, but you don't want to join the
systems into one big OSPF system (you still want two area 0's).
Since OSPF does not use an AS number, as does EIGRP, how do you
redistribute routes between the two systems? Is it as simple as using
an ASBR and redistribute routes as you would any other non-OSPF routing
protocol? In that case, wouldn't configuring two interfaces of an ASBR
to join two different areas, of two different OSPF systems just screw
up the protocol and confuse it?
    Thanx
    Jim

This is simple, but not so simple. :-) On one of the two routers, run two OSPF processes. Then set the processes up so one runs on all the interfaces except the connecting the two routers, and set the other one up so it runs on the interface connecting the two routers. Redistribute between the two processes.
    So, if you have this:
    10.2.0.0/16--A--10.1.1.0/24--B--10.3.0.0/16
    On A:
    router ospf 1
    network 10.2.0.0 0.0.255.255 area 0
redistribute ospf 1 (insert metric, type, etc)
    router ospf 2
    network 10.1.1.0 0.0.0.255 area 0
redistribute ospf 1 (insert metric, type, etc)
    On B:
    router ospf 1
    network 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 area 0
I would strongly suggest you use route tags or filters (tags are preferrable) to prevent routing loops between the two ospf processes/domains.

  • How do I connect two lines together.

I have two lines at an angle but where the corner of the angle is supposed to be there is a little triangle missing. I tried joining the two lines together but when I hit join one line goes past the other.
    Before Joining:
    After Joining:

There is no need to lock one of the paths, because you do not have to tediously select endpoints just to join paths. Doing so was necessary in Illustrator for most of its history, but it finally (decades behind other drawing programs) gained the ability to join paths at their nearest endpoints by just selecting the paths.
Undo (or cut) the unwanted join.
Black pointer: Select the left and right paths.
    Join.
Alternativley, when drawing line art, it is not uncommon to set your default Graphic Style to use rounded endcaps. That negates the problem of the "missing triangle" (as you call it) appearance of coincident straight end caps.

  • How Do You Connect Two Computers?

Real simple question. I'm certain it has a simple answer.
I have two Macs, both Intel Macs, both running Leopard. One is a MacBook Pro, the other is an office-based iMac. I would like to access the office machine with my book over the internet.
    How do I do that?

It is a simple solution, but you need to do a lot of homework to decide whether it is an appropriate solution.
    1) set up the target mac with a static internal IP.
    2) set up your router to forward port 5900 to your Mac's internal IP address.
    3) get a static external IP from your provider or sign up for a free DynDNS (or equivalent) account
or, if your IP address doesn't change often, just deal with the occasional 'outage' due to not knowing the current IP address.
    4) Turn on Screen Sharing on the target Mac
    5) Connect to Server... vnc://business.external.IP.address
Is someone going to hunt down your computer and try to hack into it? I don't know. But, if it is a business, I would think it is a more lucrative target, and there are also a lot more privacy concerns that you need to consider.
While you are looking into things, setting up a Virtual Private Network (VPN) may be an option.
Another consideration is the type of service you have purchased from your internet provider. Unless you are paying for the service, running any type of server over that IP address may violate the terms of service. I haven't looked into whether connecting back to your computer is a violation of the 'no server' rules. Generally, they are concerned about the bandwidth of a Web Server or an FTP server.

  • How do you create a bulleted list in Illustrator CS6?

I want the bullet to remain with the text like it would in a MS Word bulleted list.
    Thanks!

As mentioned Illustrator does not have a style of bulletted list. Thanks to some great typographical control you can create this using firs line indent (I set mine to -4.5 pt for this typeface & point size). This will give you hanging bullets, though if you change your type, that -4.5 would have to change.

How do I connect two monitors to my macbook pro?  This question applies to both DVI and VGA, as I might have to work with multiple sets of monitors.

The MacBookPro only has enough horsepower in the video card for one external monitor.
If you want two or more, you need a MacPro.
Or a MacBook Pro and a Remote Desktop controlled MacMini.

  • How do you connect distant devices with USB?

    Hello,
What is the maximum length recommended for USB cables? I have read it is 5 metres which is about 15 feet. Is it common knowledge to strictly stay within this limit or is it possible to successfully use a 20 foot USB cable?
I am connecting an HP cp1160 deskjet printer to a 350 MHz G3 blue and white power mac. The printer is at the other end of my office about 10 to 20 feet away.
I have used a 10 foot USB cable in the past and it seems to work sufficiently but the cable is in an awkward position and so I would like to try a 15 foot USB cable or possibly a 20 foot USB cable if I can find this length.
When using a 15 foot USB cable to connect a printer is the signal weaker than if using a shorter cable? Will printing therefore be slower or cause print errors or lost data?
Can I segment two USB cables together with an adapter or a USB extension or is it common practice to segment lengths of USB cables with a powered USB hub? Can I segment two 15 foot USB cables with a powered USB hub in the middle to boost the signal through?
Yes, I should probably be looking at a print server via ethernet or a network printer however that is a long term solution I will set up another time. For now I will just use a long USB cable.
    A few other USB questions:
Is there such an adapter as a "Y" shaped splitter adapter for USB that will allow two computers to connect to the same printer without having to keep switching the wires? (Like a telephone jack splitter but with USB.)
Most USB cables are type-A to type-B. Is there such a cable as a type-A to type-A USB cable?
    Thank you

5 meters is the maximum length of a standard USB cable. Beyond that you may experience signal loss due to power loss in the cable. This can cause all kinds of errors, including failed print jobs if talking to a printer.
However, you can span longer distances via a number of different techniques. For example, you can put a powered USB hub in the middle - as long as you use a powered hub it re-injects the signal at full power, giving you another 5 meters.
Alternatively, you can look at something like NTI's USB Extender which uses a USB-to-Cat5 converter to span distances of up to 100 feet over Cat5 cable. It uses a similar concept - a powered device to re-inject the signal, the difference being that it uses Cat5 cable for the intermediate cable.
As for the two-computer question, yes and no. You can't have two computers connected to the same printer at the same time. There are devices such as USB switches, though, that let you connect two computers and one device (e.g. printer), and use a switch to choose which computer is attached to the printer. Most of them use a manual switch, so you'd need to push the button manually to select which computer is attached to the printer.
There are some 'auto' switches that let you use some key-combo on the computer to control the switch but you'd need to investigate Mac compatibility with them.

how can I connect two thunderbolt monitors to my macmini in windows 8 and bootcamp? Works fine in OSX

Did you try to hook up both monitors to the Belkin adaptor? Trying will determine if your monitor has a bad input port. See if the Belkin adaptor is the problem. I have never used that specific adaptor, but I have always had luck with the Dr. Bott's DVI for ADC adaptor. Best of luck.

  • How do I connect two Queries?

    Hello all,
How do I connect two Queries and add some numbers.
Here is what I am trying to do.
    Query 1: Gets G/L Credit Amounts for Jan 2007  Feb 2007 March 2007.....Dec 2007
    Query 2: Gets G/L Debit Amounts for Jan 2007 Feb 2007 march 2007.....Dec 2007
I need to put both these Queries in a worksheet one below the other and add the totals by each month.....so the final report looks something like this:
I am using two structures to hold the query values.
    G/L Credit Amount        Jan 2007    Feb 2007.............Dec 2007
                                        +100         +200                   +400
    G/L Debit Amount           -50           -100                     -200
    Total                              50             100                      200
Also, I would like to allow the users to enter Year as a variable. Any suggestions?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Venkata,
Thanks for your reply. Could you explain how I insert two query results into one worksheet? And, also how do I link the two structures ( one structure per query) so I can total the amounts by each month?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Shortest distance between two line segments

    Hi.
I am looking for the code of the "Shortest distance between two line segments". I would appreciate if anyone has and willing to share.
I can find some in the net but its in VB and i am not familiar with it.
    THanks a lot.
    regards,

There are a couple of things that are not clear:
What determines the rotation speed and lenght of each stick at any given time?
What is the program allowed to do to prevent collision (change speed/direction, change radius, stop everything)
Since you want to prevent collision, you need a predictive algorithm. Once they overlap, the collision has already happened. Too late!
What information does your algorithm get (e.g. r1, r2, theta1, theta2, delta-thetat1, delta-theta2, etc.), i.e. does the program only get static information and need  to construct the trajectory from sequential history data or does it get dynamic information about speed and direction?
The trivial answer would be to just keep r1+r2 < distance(P1,P2). This will prevent all "potential" collisions.

Yes i am hoping staff here will look into things, even if i can not get the speeds back what i previously had for near 6 months it would be nice to know why i can not and why the download has dropped by around 10Mb and why my upload is now inconsistant.
Ironically the post concerned got edited because i actually posted the full rather silly reply the Indian call centre made babbling on about down rates rather than the uprate i queried with them.
Bit of a shambles really no real way on BTs web site to contact anyone with regards to broadband issues.
The form which you kindly suggested and i appreciated your help ended up in the hands of someone who either did not bother to read the query or just had such a poor grasp of English they did not understand the query.
Pretty pathetic really when BT are the largest telco in the UK. I think ill be taking my broadband business elsewhere regardless at the end of my 18 month contract, while im sure staff here are wonderful and may even yet help me, i do not particularly want to go through the almost like pulling teeth pain of getting any future issue looked at.
They are great at quickly fixing voice line problems and have a great test on their site. Broadband side of things and support for that though seems a shambles.

How do you connect to the enternet on a home pc that is not wifi?

    - An iPod will only connect to the internet via wifi. The USB connection does not provide internet conductivity.
    - When yu say phone line what type of phone line?  A regular (usually called dial up) would be very slow.  Do you have broadband phone like DSL,Fios or something?  You cold add wifi router to those.
