How do you contact apple support online just going round in circles, need advice on resetting ipod touch password which is locked. we have followed online instructions about 10 times and it doesn't work please help

What exactly happens and when does it happen when your try:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen                         
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
