How do you convert go pro camera video to work with iMovie

How do I convert go pro video to work in iMovie

Most camera videos are AVCHD videos or MTS videos. You should convert them to iMovie supported video formats with a tool like handbrake or enolsoft video converter for mac.

    Something to try -
Having installed Acrobat Standard you have the Adobe PDF virtual printer installed.
From your authoring application do a "file-print" and select the Adobe PDF printer rather than the attached local or network printer / plotter.

  • How do you new Mac Pro owners like your machine with Logic?

Don't mean to be a PITA but I need to get this right before I drop three to five grand on a new set of music tools. I'm trying to decide between Mac Pro and iMac for use with Logic. Seems there are a lot of posts regarding glitches with the new Mac Pro and Logic, whereas the posts from people with older G4s and G5s seem to indicate they are running rock solid. So you new Mac Pro folks or anyone else, please weigh in. Is the new Mac Pro "glitch heavy" or is it just a matter of tweaking the system to where it runs smooth? In general, how do you new Mac Pro folks like the way it works with Logic?

I'm mostly pleased with my MacPro 2.66. Almost no crashes with Logic, although I experience a few more bugs here and there than with my G4. Occasional CoreAudio errors, I have to restart CoreAudio if my external word clock is set to the wrong sample rate when I open a session, there seems to be a bug between high fader levels (above +4dB) and panning... little things like that.
Then again, compared to my G4, the FireWire bus is screaming fast--with most sessions, I can run a buffer of 128 samples at 96k with my MOTU 828mkII, while my G4 would sometimes glitch at 96k with 512 samples. At 96k, 256 samples, my MacPro/828mkII rig is rock-solid... I informally tested it by recording 12 test tracks simultaneously for 20 minutes, with the CPU nearly maxed out (which was difficult to do--took a bunch of Space Designers and Ultrabeats)--absolutely zero clicks or pops.
And of course, WAY more processing power than my G4.
I'm assuming that MacPro compatibility is a fairly high priority for Apple these days, so hopefully the bugs will get worked out soon. And as things are, Logic is definitely usable on a MacPro--the bugs I encounter rarely slow down my work.
So, far from perfect, but as far as new technology goes, I'd say Logic on the MacPro is above average.
    Good luck!

  • How do I know if my camera/video is working?

I can't see the person on Skype, or they, me. Downloaded newest version of Skype....still no pic.  How do I know if my camera is functioning?

PhotoBooth and Facetime should be in your Dock by default:
The icon to the left of PhotoBooth in the image is Facetime. A green light next to the camera's lens should come on when the camera is active.
If these are not in your Dock, open your hard drive icon and they will be in the "Applications" folder.

  • Blue Yeti Pro Microphone won't work with iMovie or Photobooth :(

I have my Yeti Pro connected to my macbook pro (version 10.6.8) that I use with my beats studio headphones. Whenever I record myself in garage band with the mic and the headphones, the audio sounds crystal clear. Whenever I record myself in iMovie or Photo Booth, with the headphones and the Yeti mic, the audio becomes all buzzy and poppy and the sound comes in and out. It sounds awful. In iMovie I made sure to select the Blue USB audio 2.0 option for the voiceover sound option, but the same thing happens. I don't want to have to record my video seperately from my audio and then edit them to match up later.
    Please Help!
    Thank you

    Hi Kevin,
    Two suggestions:
    Make sure that the camcorder is connected to a power outlet, not running just on battery power;
As alluded to by thesurreyfriends, try a different FireWire cable. If you have a Rocketfish cable, it has been known to cause problems. I have a Belkin 9 pin to 4 pin (FW 800/400) which works perfectly with iMovie '11, using my older Sony DCR-TRV20E.

EDIT: I don't have a Thunderbolt port on my earlier model MacBook Pro, so my situation is different to yours.

  • How do you convert to Adobe Camera Raw in batch?

I shoot photos with my Olympus e500 in raw. Then I bring them into the organizer. Then I laboriously load the pictures one by one into the ACR converter to convert my olympus raw files into compressed adobe dng files.
Is there a way of doing this in batch?
Is there any reason not to compress the dng files (it sure saves a lot of space).
    Andy

The fastest way to batch DNG is to go to the downloads section of this site and get the latest version of the ACR plug-in (for PS or PE). You'll find that includes a standalone DNG converter (you can discard the ACR plug-in part of the download if you're already up to date). Just drop a folder of RAW files on the DNG converter to batch convert them.

  • Video camera that will work with imovie

I've been asked to look into getting a video camera for work. Mostly to do interviews and product demonstration. I can see the potential for more. I did borrow a Mini DVD video camera last year. Had to jump through 2 hoops and save 2 different ways in order to just finally view the stuff on the computer. Never mind edit it. I don't seem to be alone with these problems of video camera/mac compatibility. Pain in the…
I'm looking to plug and play into my mac and hopefully use iMovie to edit.
What are some of the best choices under about a grand? Preferably $500?…
    Thanks for you expertise!

If you want high definition, pick a camcorder off this [list of supported camcorders|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1014] for iMovie 08. There is a slightly different list for iMovie 09. Pick an AVCHD model in either SDHC card or hard drive format. DVD camcorders are not recommended (by me) because people have too much trouble with them.
If standard definition is good enough, any miniDV camcorder will do.

  • How do you get 32-bit float effects to work with an alpha channel?

I make a few bugs and lower thirds, but I'm having a lot of trouble getting 32-bit float effects to correctly export with transparency.
When I make semitransparent animations with bright lighting effects, they look great in AE but I can't seem to find any way to bring them over to Final Cut and get them to look like they should.
I've attached this example of a bug with a screenshot from AE on the left and from FCP on the right. The colors dim and the vibrant blue gradients get flattened into a dull greenish color.
So far as I can tell, all my alpha and color management settings are correct. I've tried endless settings options and codec options to try to fix this, to no avail.
You can create an extreme case as an example by creating a semitransparent shape, cranking the color way up to a saturated superwhite color, and moving it around with motion blur. The render looks pretty much just like a 8/16 bit render, and nothing like it did in your canvas.
I have a feeling the way AE multiplies the superwhite color values with the alpha channel gets "lost in translation" when it is rendered to 4 8-bit channels. Is there any way to get it to look the way it does in the canvas?
    Thanks,
    Clint

Thanks so much for your ideas. I'd already tried experimenting with a number of color management options, including 'Preserve RGB' and turning off 'Convert to Linear Light' but they didn't fix it. I had also already tried using the "None" option from the codec menu.
I pulled it back into AE, and it looks the same as it did in FCP.
I'm starting to think the issue has something to do with AE rendering to a file differently than the way it renders to the canvas. For example, here's a fast moving 50% opaque superwhite shape in the AE canvas:
I rendered this using Animation + Alpha using Best settings and 32-bit float, and reimported it into AE:
I think the answer may lie in the fact that the first image looks solid white in some places, even though it is 50% transparent. It's almost like the excessive RGB values "bleed" over to the alpha channel. The rendered image (probably correctly) looks grey because it represents white at 50% opacity.
What I want to do though, is find a way to make my render look like my canvas. So it seems I need to do two things to the image:
    1. Find a way to increase opacity in areas of excessive white, so that they are not grey in the render.
    2. Find a way to "bake" the superwhite colors to a level below 100% white so that they show up in the render.
I tried the "Alpha from Max Color" effect and this seems to get kind of close, but unfortunately it discards other parts of the alpha channel (like drop shadows).
It might also be helpful to know that when I have AE output to an external NTSC monitor (via Intensity card) the monitor shows the exact same artifacts as the render.

    Hey MarkKi,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Desktop Manager does not recognize Bluetooth for a connection.  It only currently supports USB for transferring data within Desktop Manager.
However Bluetooth tethering for modem connectivity is support on the Mac.  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB18127
As well you can transfer media via Bluetooth, not within Desktop Manager.  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB20494
    Hopefully this information helps.

  • How do you get the two step security to work with virtual machines running under parallels?

I use Quickbooks running on a virtual PC under Parallels.  I have always have Quickbooks interface with Thunderbird on the PC side to email invoices to customers using my apple email account.
Once I switched to two-step verification security, Apple doesn't recognize the "new" computer trying to access my mail account, but it also doesn't send any kind of code to a second device to authorize the access.
For now, I've had to switch back to the traditional security and the above process immediately works again 9without asking me any security questions).
Is there a way to have Apple recognize the virtual PC (or any other non-Mac computer) with two-step verification security?

You have to go to your Apple ID and generate application specific passwords.

  • How can you get Belkin Media Card Reader to work with Fifth Gen iPod?

I got a new 80Gb iPod and then discovered my Belkin Card Reader I've used extensively with my 4th Gen iPod, no longer works with the new one. I easily transferred photo albums on my PC to the new iPod but the Belkin Reader is "not recognized" by the new one.
This is a MAJOR disappointment to me as we travel a lot and I've used my iPod all over the world for photo storage. I had about 15Gb of photos on my older 40 Gb iPod before I transferred them off and got the new one.
Is there any other portable card reader that will work with the 5th Gen iPod's?

  • Oregon Scientific ATC5K action cam - does it work with iMovie / Leopard?

I'm looking at getting an ATC5K for a skiing trip but the specs say it is only compatible with OS X 10.4 (Leopard) and below. Can anyone confirm if it works ok with 10.5.x and iMovie?
    Thanks

I've just got my ATC5K and I can confirm that you can import the AVI file format from it into iMovie without converting into a DV stream. iMovie will not pick it up automatically, you have to use the import movie option, but it works fine. As an aside, iPhoto picks it up automatically and treats it as a camera movie which at then end of the day I guess it is.
For a cheap, entry level action cam it's pretty good and I can't wait to try it out in anger on slopes!

  • Casio EX-S880 video works with iMovie '08 if audio transcoded

    Hi,
Just to let you know that Casio EX-S880 video clips work with iMovie '08 (tested 7.0.1) if you first transcode the audio to AAC. The camera creates H.264 / DVI ADPCM video clips (and they look pretty nice with 848x480 resolution!). iMovie '08 does not like that audio codec. E.g. with QuickTime Pro you can open the original MOV clip, then export it to MP4 with video "Pass Through" and audio AAC. This way you can preserve the original video image quality.
Or if you have ffmpeg, same thing can be achieved with: "ffmpeg -i original.mov -vcodec copy -acodec libfaac -ab 64k target.mp4". Btw, current MacPorts version of ffmpeg (0.4.9-pre1) does not recognize the DVI ADPCM audio, you'll need to compile a newer version from the ffmpeg source repository. Recent ffmpeg recognizes the audio as "adpcmimawav".
