How do you convert songs ON the iPod to 128kbs?

There is an option to convert new songs I put on my iPod (3rd generation, 4GB) to 128kbs, but how do I convert the songs already on it? Many of them are 256kbs and I need the space, and can't tell the difference in quality. I have a large library on my computer so I manually manage my iPod library. "Updating" the songs by dragging them individually to the iPod isn't a realistic option since it would take forever, AND to add insult to injury it even removes the song from any playlist when you do this!
Ideally I would like a button in iTunes that would convert all my songs on my iPod to 128kbs, but what's the next best thing?
null

If it matters, I should add that I have both Mac and PC, so if there's any iTunes plugin or external application available to do what I want, I will be able to run it.

How can you delete songs off the ipod without deleting songs off your itunes library?  My son's ipod automatically synced all the songs in my library to his ipod which he now wants to get rid of.  Is there a way to delete them all without me having to erase my library?

Do not select the songs to sync, then sync.

How do you choose songs from your ipod instead of from the car dashboard while your ipod is plugged into your car?

It depends on your car stereo. On the JVC we have you can select either "Head Mode" or "iPod Mode" when you're plugged into the USB port. Ipod Mode lets you select the songs from the iPod although the radio still controls the volume. I believe the Alpine I have does the same thing.

How  do you put songs on your ipod with the new itunes?

Do you mean remove them from the iPod or transfer them back to your computer? You can't transfer photo's back to the computer with iTunes. To retrieve photos from an iPod try:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
To remove individual photos from an iPod you delete or remove the photo from the folder that you linked to when you set the preference "synch photos from" and update the iPod. For example, if the iPod is getting the pictures from the folder "My Pictures," delete or remove them from My Pictures.

  • ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO ERASE A SONG ON THE IPOD CLASSIC?

Does anybody know how to erase a song from an ipod classic?

You remove it from the list of items in iTunes set to sync with the iPod, or if syncing it manually, select the iPod in the iTunes source list, find that music, and press Delete.

  • How do you delete files from the iPod?

i have a 30GB iPod, but i was wondering how you delete music from the iPod? and also is it possible to play the music from the iPod?
30GB iPod.   Windows XP   30GB iPod.

There are several methods of deleting songs from the iPod and/or iTunes, and the method you choose depends on the settings you have selected for your iPod.
If you have the iPod set to automatically transfer songs, and you no longer want a copy of those songs on either the iPod or in iTunes, simply delete the songs in iTunes. Highlight the songs you no longer want then right click and select "clear", or from the edit menu select "clear". Next time you connect the iPod, the songs will be deleted from there also.
Only do this if you no longer want the songs on both the iPod and your computer.
You can also use the "only update checked songs" method in the iPod options (right click on the iPod in the source list in iTunes and select options, then select "only update checked songs"). With this preference checked, you can remove the check mark from the songs in iTunes that you no longer want on the iPod. The next time you connect the iPod, those unchecked songs will be removed from the iPod whilst still being retained in iTunes. You can check and uncheck songs as you change your mind about what songs you want to put on the iPod. Songs that have no check mark against them will be skipped over when played back in iTunes.
If you have the iPod set to manually manage your songs, and you want to delete the song from the iPod only, then select the iPod in the source list of iTunes, or click on the "music" option underneath it to show all your songs. Highlight the song(s) you no longer want on the iPod, right click and select "clear", or use the edit menu as previously mentioned.
This method only deletes the songs from the iPod, so if you no longer want the song in iTunes also, you'll need to delete it from there separately using the method above.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, all these settings can be found in the summary screen.
If you want to delete everything from the iPod and completely erase the hard drive and start from scratch, then you can restore the iPod to factory settings.
Only do this if you have the songs in your iTunes library, or a back up somewhere other than the iPod itself.
To play music from an iPod through iTunes, you need to set your iPod to manage the iPod content manually.
This will make the songs on the iPod accessible and playable.

  • How do you sync songs from an ipod from one account to another acount?

I have one iPod but two accounts. Both have music. I can no longer access the account my iPod is registered to. How do I move the songs from the iPod to the other account.

Was the music purchased from the iTunes store and if so, does the music include DRM protection - not iTunes Plus songs?
If so, you can't transfer iTunes content purchased with one account to another account. DRM protected content is associated with the account the content was downloaded with and cannot be transferred to another account.

  • How do you transfer songs from an iPod Nano to library

How do I transfer songs from an iPod Nano to the iTunes Library or iMatch so I can access them on my iPad?

iTunes Match requires a connection to the Internet; an iPod nano has no networking capability.  Everything for the nano goes through your computer.
If you want the songs on the nano on your iPad, they need to be transferred to your computer and then added to your iTunes library.  You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilties that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are in your iTunes library, the will be added to your iTunes Match library in iCloud.  You can then add the songs to your iPad from your computer or from iCloud.
NOTE:  Songs previously purchased from the iTunes Store can also be re-downloaded at no cost, from the iTunes Store Purchased screen.

  • How do you get songs on an Ipod touch from your previous one?

My Ipod touch recently had a glitch that completely messed it up. As a result, I went to get another one. Typically, when we sync our ipods to the computer, everything that you've changed on the ipod is saved onto the computer as well. However, I had purchased about 15-20 songs on my Ipod touch and added about 6 or 7 new apps before it started to mess up on me, but I never had the chance to sync it in to the computer. So I'm wondering if there is a way for me to reclaim the songs that I've purchased because--well, because I've purchased them and I really do not want to pay for them again. If anyone has a legit answer, I'd really appreciate it if you posted a response!
    Thank you! =]

Here's a short and simple on the legit way since I actually had this happen to me as well.
Open iTunes, and go to the store. At the top right corner should be your iTunes login name (or "Log In"). Either way, click it and it will ask you to log in.
Once you log in (or re login), you should be brought to your account. Somewhere in the middle is an option to view purchase history. Click that.
Once it's open, it should pull up all your purchases (grouped somehow...I think by day?). Find the purchases you're looking for. And click the arrow to pull up the order (for multiple orders, you're going to do this a couple times).
The order should pull up with ALL purchases associated with that order. At the bottom is a button to report a problem.
When you click it, all items should now show a link that says "Report a Problem". For each item, click the link.
A new page will display with a drop down menu and a comments box. Pick the option "I didn't Receive this Song" and note that it was purchased with an iPod Touch that was unable to transfer to back to iTunes. Submit, and repeat for all SONGS.
For all your apps, find the apps you need to download, and iTunes will automatically allow free redownloads, which means you DON'T need to report a problem. When you finished reporting the problem, check your email box because you'll be spammed by the Apple Auto-Responses that an Apple Associate will take care of the problem. In several hours (or overnight), you'll receive a response from said Apple Associate (it will say the same thing all the time, practically automated) apologizing for you not receiving the songs. They will credit your account and you can "repurchase" that song (since you will technically receive a "gift card" on your account of 1.29 per song). That should solve your problem.

If you remove songs form the iPad that does not affect anything in iTunes on your computer.
Tap the Songs tab in the Music App. You can swipe across a song on the songs list and a red delete button will pop up.
Tap the album tab in the Music App. Hold down on an album icon. The X to delete will pop up.
If the music as synced from iTunes - You can also connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes, select the iPad under the devices heading, click on the Music Tab and uncheck all of the songs or albums that you want to remove from the iPad and then click on Apply in the lower right corner.

  • How do you move songs from the 'iTunes library to 'Jenni's iPod Selection'?

I have 2 folders with songs in them: iTunes Library and Jenni's iPod Selection. Whenever I download music, they are automatically saved in the 'iTunes Library' folder. But when I hook up my iPod to download them into the iPod, the songs are downloaded from the 'Jenni's iPod Selection' folder. Most of the songs are in the iTunes Library folder... Can someone help me?

Song that are imported from CD or downloaded into iTunes are always going to be in iTunes music folder. Can't change this.
Any reason you don't want this and you have music stored in "Jenni's iPod Selection"?
Why not add it all to the iTunes music folder and create a playlist called "Jenni's iPod Selection".
