How do you copy paste a thumbnail from one file to another in Mavericks

I used to be able to do a copy/paste and duplicate in the thumbnails...how do I do now in Maverick?

In the Pages and Numbers applications, the thumbnail view of my document no longer allows me to re-arrange, duplicate or otherwise edit the thumbnails. The fact that I can't right click on the thumbnails to manage the pages are one thing, but the fact that I can't even drag and drop the order of pages is unbelievable. Suggestions?

How do I copy an art object from one document to another using illustrator API(C )

Hi, I'm trying to copy text and graphic elements from one document into another, does anybody has an idea how to do it using Illustrator SDK(C++)?

If you call AIArtSuite::ReorderArt() giving the layer group handle from the target document and using art from the source document, it will move art between documents. That said, there are all sorts of caveats that come along with that -- some things move over automatically (graphic styles, symbols) while others cause problems. E.g. copying art that contains a swatch can cause a crash when you shut down the source document because it may keep the style reference to the swatch in the source document -- which goes away when the document is closed. Gradients in particular are a problem I believe. Straight up colours are (I think) fine. I've had to write a lot of workarounds for various headaches caused by moving art between documents.
Bottom line: its very doable, but there are a lot of edge cases. This was clearly not an intended use of the SDK, though it is possible.

Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

I'm wanting to copy an iPhoto book from one MBP (OS 10.7.3) to another (10.8.3). Is there an easy way to do it?

You will have to copy the entire iPhoto Library to the other Mac as the library is a virtual entity in the library recorece in the database files.
Once it's been copied launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and select the libary in the window that appears. I
NOTE: if the new Mac has newer iPhoto version than the old Mac check to make sure it has the same theme that you used in the book. There were some changes in themes from iPhoto 8 (09) to iPhoto 9 (11). If your new iPhoto doesn't have the same theme you may want to complete the book on the old Mac.

Has anyone tried copying settings of Modern apps from one computer to another?
Example: let's say that I wanted to copy the settings from the Photos app on one computer to a thousand other computers. Would this work? Are settings for Modern apps in a format that can be easily copied?

I rented a movie from iTunes and downloaded it to my Macbook Air.
I now want to watch it on my iMac, but it tells me its authorized to play on another computer.
FAQ says I need to move it from one computer to another.
How do I do this?

You may be able to move it by syncing it to an iPod or iOS device capable of playing it and then using the Transfer Purchases function; it won't play on the destination computer if moved in the normal way.
If it can't be moved that way, no.
If the MacBook Air isn't usable, ask the iTunes Store staff for assistance.

Copying IPTC caption information from one file to another

I need some help with jpeg files to run a script or Automator workflow to copy from one picture to another IPTC information (that's the text that makes up the caption, source, date location etc information in jpegs).
I have more than 300 high res pics that need to receive the IPTC (caption) info already typed into medium res versions of the same pics. The pics are all logically named and numbered (picSB_yyyy-mm-dd_med001 and picSB_yyyy-mm-dd_big001, 002 etc).
I already use Automator to bulk change some IPTC fields (location, copyright, credits etc) and have typed up details of who's in the pics etc in the caption field itself). But I can't see the work flow elements I'd need in the palettes on the left side of the Automator screen to copy the IPTC fields to other files.
I think there are two ways I could do this.
1) Set up an if/then script based on the file names and trailing numbers -
If file in folder named Medium ends in 001, copy IPTC info to file in folder named Big that ends in 001,
Repeat adding one to the value of the trailing number.
2) Move the files to new folders and have the IPTC info copied from one folder to another -
Move top file from folder Medium into a folder named Medium To Do,
Move the top file from folder Big to Big To Do,
Copy IPTC from file in Medium To Do to file in Big to Do,
Move file from Medium to Do to Medium Done,
Move file from Big To Do to Big done,
Repeat.
Can anyone advise me if I've missed the required elements in the Automator palette, or if such scripts might be available elsewhere?

How can I copy/paste a page from one pages document into another pages document?

I have read the directions in the manual, but when I go to the document where I want to put the page the paste function is greyed out. I assume this has something to do with styles, but can't find what to do.

You got it.
Paste is greyed when we try to paste a page from a WP document into the thumbnails area of a Layout one.
It's active if we try to paste in the pages area.
In the document's tool bar, there is an icon with a + symbol at top left.
In WP documents it's named Sections, In Layout ones its named Pages.

Can you copy a build action from one image to another?

Hello - is it possible to set up a build action for a shape/image and then copy these attributes to another shape/image? I tried to use copy/paste styles however this did not work.
I need to replicate the same path/build sequence many times over many different objects and I do not want to have to recreate many times.

There is no way I know of to replace an object with another object. If you have images, you could create a single object, copy it, and use the "Image Fill" of the object to place the images "inside" it -- if the object is not stroked, it will look like the image, and not the original object, and if it has transparency, like a PDF, those transparent areas will remain transparent. (Note that you can also create PDF images of Keynote objects themselves using the Preview Passthru technique.)

How do I copy an iMovie project from one computer to another (without using aliased files)?

I followed the instructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14745 to copy an event to one library to another. The added library was accessed through a network share. A new folder was created in the iMovie Library package, but the media files were all aliases to the media on the original computer. Is there any way to actually copy the files and not have iMovie just create aliases?

How do you copy a Flash Workspace from on Mac to another?

Hi There,
Most of the other Adobe apps have a "Workspaces" directory located in the user preferences directory but I can't find any info on where Flash stores it's workspaces files.
I need to copy and install the same workspace across multiple computers - does anyone know how to do this for Flash?
Any help would be much appreciated.

How do I copy & transfer iPhoto library from one mac to another?

I have a Power mac G5 and want to transfer a complete copy of my iPhoto 6 library (with all the specific albums) from my Power mac G5 to a new mac mini. I have an external drive. Is there a way to do this operation direct, between computers, or do I go through the external drive? Which do you recommend and how do I do this?
After the copy transfer is completed, in the future, when I add new photos to my iPhoto library on my G5 and I want to transfer a copy of the new photos to the mac mini, do I follow the same process you outline above? Will the future copy transfer require I delete the library on the mac mini, and make a new complete copy transfer, or will a future transfer only pick-up the new photos?

1 - connect the two machines together (a network or firewire target mode) quit iPhoto and drag the iuPhoto library from the old to th enew machine
2 - alternatively you can connect the EHD to the old machine, drag the iPhoto library to it, move it to the new machine and drag the iPhoto library to the picturews folde on it
3 - there is no way to sync the libraries - if the two are on a network you could use iPhoto library manager (only if both use the same version of iPhoto ) or use image capture to move the photo to the desktop from the camera and tehn impor tthem into both - but you can not automatically sync them you have to load the photos twice or use IPLM to do it

Hi Vipin,
Check tcode SE03 for transport related issues.
as suggested by all the TR needs to be released from the current system to make it ready to be transported to next system.
Once you release the request ask your basis administrator to transport the request to D30.
