How do you create a disk image of windows so u can increase partition size?

Ok, I have installed windows on my mac using bootcamp so i can play pc games and such. I mainly use the mac side of the computer but I have 30 GB devoted to windows. I ran out of space though and now want to uninstall windows so i can make the windows partition bigger. The problem is that I don't want to have to install ALL of my programs over again once i reinstall windows so I want to take a disk image of windows which i can revert to once it is reinstalled. I tried using the disk utility to do it but it keeps giving me error messages. Does anyone know how do create a disk image using windows??? or maybe I'm doing something wrong with the disk utility??? HELP!

The easiest way I have found to do this is to backup the windows partition with a program such as WinClone

Then use the bootcamp assistant to erase and recreate the partition, finally restoring the backup to the new partition. I have done this several times with my mac and it works great.

Is there any way you can create a disk image using Disc Copy? Is there a better way to create a Disk Image?
I would like to burn two copies of a 4.2 gig folder on my mac. I usually insert a blank DVD-R and then the mac asks if I would like to prepare it at which point I click "yes". An icon of a DVD disk appears on the desktop and then I drag my files onto this icon. It takes a few moments to create the disc image and then I click "burn". However, after the disc is burned the disc image disappears and I have to start all over again if I want to make another copy.
How can I save this disc image? If I could save the disc image, it would enable me to burn a second DVD right after the first without having to create the disk image all over again. This would save a lot if time.
I am using OS 10.1.5

That worked however when I insert a blank DVD-R, the disk image still has to be copied to the DVD-R buffer and then it can be burned. And so this doesn't really save any steps - the "copying into the buffer" step still has to occur whether or not you have created a disk image of your files. So creating a disk image doesn't really shorten the process of burning multiple copies of a DVD.
I will try to describe the steps more clearly:
Two of the three steps for creating a DVD (steps 2 and 3) are very time-consuming:
1. put blank DVD into the drive (a DVD disk icon quickly appears)
2. drag files onto this icon (this step takes a long time as the files are copied into the buffer)
3. choose "burn" (the actual burning also takes a long time)
I was hoping that when I create two or more DVDs of the same files, I could first create a Disk image so that when I create the second DVD, step 2 could be skipped. That does not seem to be the case - the disk image still has to be re-loaded. And so I think I will not bother with the Disk image idea - it doesn't seem to be necessary or helpful when burning DVDs to backup data.

Yes, that's correct, at least not directly. You can create a blank disk image, copy the file to the mounted disk image, then burn the image to a CD/DVD.
Open Disk Utility and select Blank Disk Image from the New menu. Provide a name, Save location, and select the image size from the drop down menu. Leave Encryptions at None and Format as read/write. Click on the Create button.
After the image file appears the "removable" disk should be automatically mounted. If not double-click on it to mount it. A "removable" disk icon will appear. Drag the file you want to place on the disk image to the "removable" disk icon. The eject the "removable" disk icon. Now select the disk image file in the DU left side list and click on the Burn icon in the DU toolbar. Be sure to have a blank disc ready.
The above is actually the "long" way to do this. A much easier way is to simply insert a blank CD or DVD into the optical drive. The Finder will pop up a dialog asking what to do. Select the option to mount on the Desktop. You will now see a disc icon on the Desktop. Drag the file you want to burn to the CD/DVD, right-click or CTRL-click on the disc icon and select Burn from the contextual menu.

Adding an application to startup. I'm not quite sure what you mean by mounting a disk image but you could pop your dmg in there and see what happens at login.

How do you create a bootable image accessable via OPTION at boot time...

Hello. Is there a way to create a 'bootable image' of a hard drive and save on my raid and access it via the OPTION menu (hold option key at boot)? I would like to create a OSX bootable drive and then save the whole thing in a file. That way I can set up different configs and just boot into whichever I wish to use. Say, one to rescue a crashed hard drive, etc.

CCC is used to make a bootable clone. It will also make an image file that can be installed using ASR or that can be used with NetBoot. It does not make a bootable image because you cannot boot from a disk image file. The image file can also be burned onto a CD or DVD, but you will not be able to boot from it because a CD/DVD is not a writeable device, and OS X must be able to write to a startup device.
Another utility, BootCD (not yet usable with Tiger), worked around the problem by rewriting some of the startup code in OS X to force the making of a RAM disk, then moving some of the startup files to the RAM disk and designating the RAM disk as the startup device. Although BootCD will make a bootable and customizable CD using Panther, it does not work with Tiger.

How do you create a mirror image of a photo?

Am I just completely missing something or can this not be done unless you make a card or something?? I can see how to rotate and adjust how the picture looks but can't suss out how to simply create a flipped or mirror image of a photo...

This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

How does one create multiple devices for the many ipod/ipad products in one household. Each serial number should have it's own device name!

Using the minor device number is what I would do if I was writing an ethernet driver for example. But all I want to do is if the user accesses device x it then calls routines via the xinfo streamtab - if device y is accessed then calls use the yinfo streamtab. It is usually a matter of registering the info structures with the system and then associating them with a device. Unfortunately Solaris seems to have :-
modlinkage -> modldrv -> x_ops -> cb_x_ops -> xinfo
which is all very well for device x
but how do you fit/ dev/y
into the picture.

How to install my company's image of Windows 7 onto a Bootcamp partition?

My company uses a reimaging DVD to install Windows 7, MS Office, and all other propietary company software and settings. On a PC, you boot to the disk, it asks is you want to erase the entire and reimage the entire disk. It does not recongize partitions to allow you to choose which disk is erased and reimaged. I assume it would reformat the entire HD, removing partitions, and reimage the whole thing with WIndows 7 erasing the Mac OS.
The disk is made up of a boot folder with a etfsboot.com file. I'm assuming that this is where the process starts. It looks like they may have used imagex to create the image. There is a WIM file along with 4 SWM files which I'm assuming contain the image rebuild. There are several other support files but none of significant size.
I've read a ton of different blogs and forems, but I can't find anything that addresses my situation. Bootcamp doesn't recongnize the disk or the boot file as a Windows 7 install disk (I didn't think it would, but it was worth a shot).

You need a full retail version of Windows in order to install Windows on a Boot Camp partition. Ask your IT Admin or whoever created the image why it does not install on an Apple computer. We have no idea what they put on the disk with respect to software, security, etc.

Best way to create a background image for all resolutions without drastically increasing file size.

I see a lot of great background images with complex designs that resize with different screen resolutions. I can create the designs, but I don't know how to create a complex image for large screen resolutions without making it a large file, or it loosing quality with it stretches to the larger size. Is there a code that resizes images when stretched, or do I just have to live with a slower load speed with complex background images?

Basically make a 1920x1080 or higher resolution file and use that script. There will always be a maximum but based on your response that is not your monitor. Photoshop and other tools do a pretty good job compressing jpeg files and most internet connections are fast enough to make it seamless.

How to Continue Creating Recovery Disks after Updating Window 8.0 to 8.1

I might mess up the HP Recover Manager as follow:
I was attempting to create the recovery disks for the HP Window 8.0 laptop. HP Recovery Manager needed 5 disks. After 2 disks made done, I left my laptop for two hours. Then I returned to my laptop and saw Window to ask me to update Window 8.1. And I updated it to Window 8.1.
After Window 8.1 update done, the system had been restarted. When returning to HP Recovery manager, it asked me to continue the third recovery disks. I selected "Continue". However, Disk 3 verified failed at 15%, the pop up window asked me to use another disk and try again. I attempted second times by restart my laptop. again, Disk 3 verified failed at 2%,
How do I clean this mess and make a 2nd set of recovery disks?

I called the above phone number. Tech Support told me to charge $40.00 for recovery disks. I complained this and they transfered me to 877-917-4380 to talk with Case Manager. He agreed sending the recovery disks with no charge

You need to have the disc in order to create disk image of snow leopard installer disc. What did your machine ship with? If something later than SL, then why? If earlier, then you can buy the SL installer disc and make the disk image.
