How do you create new folders in Mail?

How are new folders created in the Mail application?

If you are on iOS 5 and it's an IMAP type account then at the top of the list of the folders that you've currently got in the account there should be an Edit button. If it's a POP account then you can't create additional folders

How do you create new maps in Mail on iPad?
In the iPad-manual they mention you can put messages in other mailboxes or maps (to free up the Inbox).
But they don't mention how to create such maps.
In the app itself I can't find a way to do it.
    thanks for all replies

Maybe you are confused by the fact I used the word 'maps' instead of 'folders' (my natural Ianguage is Dutch).
For your question about the manual: on page 59 in the 'iPad 2 user guide' under 'organizing Email' they say you can move messages to a different mailbox or folder.

How do I create new folders in mail on IPad and IPhone for saving emails?

You can't do it on the iPad you would need to do it on your computer and the folder will be seen by your account on the iPad and iPhone only if they are IMAP and Exchange accounts. POP accounts are not supported for folders.

  • How do you create sub-folders in Mail?

    Hello, thanks for reading.
I have several domains and email accounts relating to different businesses and each account needs various associated archive folders for receipts, licences, customers, sales, newsletters, and so on...
With a sub-folder for each email kept for future reference on each account, this is a total of around 100 folders over 4 email accounts. Mail folders treat emails like songs in iTunes and that just doesn't work. The ideal solution is to have sub-folders within each mailbox.
If sub-folders aren't an option, can anyone suggest a way around this?! I might be able to slim it down to 20 folders but that would make finding an old email a little harder, especially if I don't know the email account it relates to or the sender.
I did all this easily on Outlook Express, which I think is available for Mac, right?

I've got tons of sub-folders in Mail.
I think the key is to understand that a mailbox is represented by a folder icon.
If you select a folder (mailbox), when you choose Mailbox/New Mailbox, the new folder appears inside the folder you highlighted. If not, you can drag it inside another folder as mentioned previously.

  • How do I create new folders in Mail on my iPad?

It is probably obvious, but I am missing it. I want to create folders in my email accounts on my iPad to store emails I wish to keep. Unfortunately, I have not been able to discover how.
    Please advise. Thanks.

    Hello,
    On your Mac ...
If you are using Mac Mail at the bottom of the window under: Mailboxes
Click + then click: New Mailbox
Now connect your iPad to your Mac. Select iPad under Devices in the iTunes window. Under the Info tab select: Sync Mail Mail Accounts.
Deselect anything else you don't want to sync at the same time in that window.

  • How do I create new folders in my mail?

How do I create new folders to divide and save my mail into catergories?

    Hi Tina
    Two ways to do this:
1 in Mail, go the tool bar at the top of the screen, select Mailbox, then select New Mailbox in the menu.
2 in Mail, go the lefthand column, and at the bottom left you should see a plus sign and a cogwheel icon. Click on the plus sign and a new, untitled, mailbox will appear in the column above. Name this as you like.
You can "nest" mailboxes inside other mailboxes (eg inside a box I called "personal" I have individual mailboxes for each of my family and friends).
Then simply drag messages from your inbox to the appropriate mailbox in the lefthand column when you want to archive them.
    Hope this helps!

  • I want to sort all my bookmarks alphabetically but can't. You only let me drop a bookmark into an already-existing folder. And if that is the only way, how can I create new folders?

    Question
I want to sort all my bookmarks alphabetically but can't. You only let me drop a bookmark into an already-existing folder. And if that is the only way, how can I create new folders so that I can try to create meaningful folders?

With the iPod connected to the computer go to the Music pane for the iPod in iTunes and check the box that says sync only checked songs. The check the songs you want synced and click on Sync. For more info see:

  • Creating new folders in Mail

    Greetings..
How does one create new folders under the inbox for organizing purposes? I was expecting to be able to create a "new folder" within any other folder, but all I can find is smart folders, and some other strange option which results in this new folder under the heading "On My Mac"...strange...what's this "On My Mac" all about? Why can't I just create a new folder under my inbox, and organize the way I see fit? This is really odd..

You can accomplish this by creating a new mailbox ( *plus sign* in the bottom left corner of the main window). I think this should say folder, but I didn't make this choice. It acts like a folder. Just click and drag emails from your inbox to these other mailboxes you created. The "On My Mac" just refers to where the emails get stored (/Users/yourshortname/Library/Mail)
    D.
Edit: the funny thing is the icon for the new mailboxes is a folder, go figure.

  • HT201320 How do I make new folders in mail?

How do I make new folders in mail?

If you are in desperation for folders you could set up an imap account such as Gmail or Hotmail, create whatever folders you want, add the account to your iPad, send the emails you want to categorise to your new email address and manage them from within. You could also consider gradually making the new email address your future one thus eliminating the need to be always forwarding and thus creating duplicates in a sense. Might be a bit clumsy but it is a work around!

  • How do we create new folders?

    Hi folks,
Just got a new Playbook and, contradicting all the bad press about it, it is actually very good. The question I have is: how do we create new folders? The only I can see are the "All", "Favorites", "Media" and "Games. Also, how do we sort by name the icons on the desktop? Thanks J. Rola

Hi download Air browser from the App World. IT let's you make new folders, save documents and organize things efficiently. I just came across it last week by accident. Good luck.

Right-click on any IMAGE anywhere, then follow the Get Info instructions.
You can also do it on the Faces screen. At the bottom of that screen you should see a Suggested Faces bar. Double-click on one of the unnamed faces and add the person's name. If it's a new face, it will be added to face circles collection.

  • Creating new folders in Mail on iPhone?

How can I create new mail folders on the Mail app on the iPhone?

Mailboxes stored locally on your hard drive are not included with the iTunes sync process. No mailboxes and messages are included with the iTunes sync process. The email accounts option under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences is for transferring email account settings from your computer to your iPhone only so you don't have to manually create the account with the iPhone's mail client.
With a POP account, the only mailboxes available will be the account's Inbox, Drafts, Sent, and Trash mailboxes. The account's Sent mailbox will not be created until you send a message with the account, and the account's Drafts mailbox will not be created until you save a message as a draft.
Accessing a POP account with the iPhone's mail client is no different from accessing the account with a different email client on your computer, or with an email client on another computer. All mailboxes stored locally on your computer's hard drive with the existing email client being used to access the account will not be available after creating the account with another email client on your computer, or with an email client on another computer. The same applies to the iPhone's mail client. There are no phones in the smart phone category that provide for accessing mailboxes stored locally on your computer's hard drive with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account, and I'm not aware of any phones in the smart phone category that provide for syncing locally stored mailboxes on your computer.
Although a POP account can be accessed with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. You can't store sent messages on the server with a POP account, so messages sent with one email client used to access the account will not be available with another email client used to access the account and vice-versa.
An IMAP account is designed to be accessed with more than one email client with all server stored mailboxes for the account available with each email client used to access the account along with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server. Send a message with the iPhone's mail client with an IMAP account and the sent message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account and vice-versa.
You can also create additional server stored mailboxes with the email client used on your computer for accessing an IMAP account to store received and sent messages by category, and the additional server stored mailboxes created with the email client used on your computer for accessing an IMAP account will be available automatically when accessing the account with the iPhone's mail client, or with another email client used on a different computer for accessing the account, along with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.
This is not possible with a POP account.
I access an IMAP account with the email client on my Mac, with the iPhone's mail client, and with Windows Mail on a PC running Vista that I use at work for estimating software that doesn't have a Mac version. All server stored mailboxes with the account are available with each email client that I use to access the account, along with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server automatically.
Have you ever used a Windows Mobile device to access your POP account? If so, were all mailboxes stored locally on your computer's hard drive with the email client used on your computer available with the Windows Mobile device? Sure you could probably create locally stored mailboxes or folders on a Windows Mobile device to store received and sent messages by category, but all your existing locally stored mailboxes or folders with the email client used on your computer would not be available with the Windows Mobile device with no way to transfer the mailboxes or folders from your computer to the device. Would you also want to throw a brick through Microsoft's corporate office windows because you aren't able to transfer and access all locally stored mailboxes or folders on your computer with your Windows Mobile Device? Probably not, but if the account can be accessed as an IMAP account, you would have access to all mailboxes and folders with the email client on the Windows Mobile device if all mailboxes and folders are stored on the server.

  • How do you create new groups within Contacts on the iPad?

Can you create new groups within Contacts directly from the iPad, iPhone,or do you have to do it on the computer first?

The easiest way is to get the app called group e mail.  There are a couple of others as well.  There is a way to do it on your computer, and sync it, but I find that personally frustrating.  :).  Save yourself the aggrevation, and get the app, that works pretty well.
